cpap

Avatar m tn I had a sleep study in March 2018. 4.7 AHI and 18 RDI. Sleep doc said I didn't have sleep apnea, but noted my heavily scalloped tongue as a classic sign of sleep apnea. Large amount of RERAs as noted from the sleep chart: https://ibb.co/BnY3JcG I apparently have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome given the RERAs. My sleep is not refreshing. I got a stomach bug February 1 and my stomach and GI tract have been all messed up since.
Avatar f tn I am 64 years old, female and have COPD and Sleep Apnea. I am currently on a Cpap machine. My question is, can the Cpap be make my COPD worse? In the time that I am on the machine I feel like my lungs are getting filled with more air. During the day my COPD seems worse. Since I have a problem getting the air out of my lungs anyway, can the machine be making my COPD worse? Thanks for any help you can give me. I am to the point that I don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn I have a CPAP machine , but I can't use it the air rushes in so fast I choke, I just went for a BIPAP sleep study, it was awesome. I slept like a baby. the difference is the Bipap adjusts to your breathing and it didn't choke me. so now I'm waiting for the machine. the sleep apnea isn't too bad, but my narcolepsy is so difficult to manage. I haven't been outside after 6:00pm in about two years, my medication runs out around 4:00pm so I can't drive.
Avatar n tn I have the EXACT same problem as kcr01. In fact, it's so similar that I need not give you details of my sleep disorder. as it would be redundant. My sleep doctor refuses to recognize the possibility that I have UARS and is saying I have narcolepsy and/or epilepsy and won't do a second study on me using a CPAP. Out of desperation, I'm almost to the point of just buying a CPAP machine on craigslist. But, your reply concerns me a little.
Avatar f tn With proper support and follow-up, most people are able to benefit from CPAP. Worst case scenario, if your nose is stuffy, have that taken care of, and it can help with CPAP.
Avatar m tn coughing, sinus drainage), and you are using a CPAP/BiPAP machine then yes, it can be related if your not keeping your equipment clean. it can also cause headaches/migraines.
771990 tn?1341779376 Or perhaps you are coming down with a bit of a cold but are at the beginning phase of it. I found BiPap to be easier on me than CPap because of the two pressures, it made it easier to breathe out than to try and do that against the constant pressure of Cpap.
222135 tn?1236488221 Any one use a CPAP or BiPAP? Can you tell me how long it took you to get used to sleeping with it? Do you really feel better? Waiting to get mine and not too thrilled about it. I hated it when I had to do the titration stay for CPAP. Really did not like the way it felt. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi you can try a snoring mouth guard as an alternative to CPAP. This is what my husband and I are both using for our sleep apnea (throat airway obstruction) http://slumberguard.com.
1580703 tn?1651904887 t feel I am sleeping deeply on Bipap and need to use a 45 minute ramp and wake up several times in the middle of the night. I had some hypertension, ds- so I am going to have to use Bipap for life? I read that central apneas are caused by brain lesions so maybe there is no way to cure that?
505751 tn?1225032462 I just found out that I have severe complex sleep apnea with central sleep apnea being the main problem. I go back tonight for another study and to get the CPAP. I am also in the middle a lot of test because my new neurologist is 99% sure I have MS. My question is for those of you already DX with MS - is this sort of sleep apnea common? If so did a CPAP help?
3227046 tn?1458313476 Dr says bipap use during sleep study is way to go after cpap was not. I couldn't fall asleep using cpap. Normally i fall asleep so fast i dont remember falling asleep. Twice while eating, with partially chewed food on my mouth ,many times in my driveway after a short drive, during movies always..it's unreal.i have no life and beginning heart failure. I'm changed to healthy eating, alkaline, leafy green, organic etc.does anyone think this bioap is going to really help me.
Avatar n tn no CPAP is great, I have BIPAP and I get headaches without it- you should really work hard and try to adjust to CPAP If you get oxygen that can help also I have asthma too but I would be much worse without cpap
Avatar n tn My son of age 46 was diagnosed with sleep apnea several years ago but could not get use to sleeping with the cpap and mask. Now he has a very bad heart condition due to all those years of sleep apnea. Lack of oxygen to the heart. It is very important that people take apnea serious.
Avatar n tn I have copd and sleep apnea. I use a cpap machine and am becoming convinced that it is the machine that keeps setting off lung infections in me. Every morning or whenever I wake up with mask on, I am choking and it hurts to take a breath. My mouth is completey dried out and I cough for a half hour before I can begin to inhale without coughing. Is there a solution for this...I can't use a nasal mask because I have deviated septum and automatically open my mouth when I sleep.
Avatar n tn Hello, Poodlelover. I'm sorry to read that the CPAP treatment is not helping you. There are a couple of possilbilities. First, your mask may be leaking during the night and you're not getting the required oxygen. Second, you may not be getting the good deep sleep because of the noise of the machine and you're also getting adjusted to the CPAP. Lastly, and this happened to me, your pressure may be incorrect.
Avatar m tn I have sleep Apena and its not as major as one might think. It can usually be controlled with a CPAP or BiPAP machine.
Avatar m tn I've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I also have major sinus problems. I've tried the bipap and cpap machines with many different mask and can't find anything I can tolerate. The mask is one thing, but the air being forced causes my sinus problems to increase by stopping up my nose which makes me breathe through my mouth which as everyone knows won't work. Does anyone have issues close to what I have or any other suggestions.
1580703 tn?1651904887 my life is being ruined by sleep apnea, by central and obstructive SA I need to sleep with oxygen and a bipap machine every night or sometimes I get headaches and feel terrible with no energy and bad fog for 2 days. could it be solved by removing my tonsils which are red or removing this brain cyst in my clivus?
Avatar m tn t the problem with CPAP. The problem was all the air it forced into my stomach and intestines. I guess those valves are loose when I'm asleep (no, I don't have GERD.) The technician said I might be able to avoid inflation by sleeping propped up in a near sitting position. Instead I chose to return the CPAP and resume sleeping on my side, in which position the sleep testing showed no apnea episodes. I can believe BiPAP is more comfortable.
702513 tn?1228512697 Your home care provider should give you a smart card and after a couple of weeks you can give them the card and they will download the data to see if the treatment is effective. I went ahead and bought the software and a smart card reader from an online CPAP supply store and I look at the data weekly. If the machine has the slot, and you decide to buy the software and reader, the smart card will only work on ONE reader. You can't buy it at Circuit City or Best Buy.
Avatar f tn i thought there may of been other alternatives but she basically needs the CPAP.. and i know its not oxygen..its pressure of air flow..obviously related to her rare muscle disease...but..we have to go and stay over in hospital to try to ensure maria gets used to using the CPAP... as right now there is no alternative... im not posting to ask a question..im just updating like i said i would...But..
Avatar m tn Alternatively, you could try BiPAP, which is a bi level pressure device, which regulates according to inspiration and expiration, and hence is more comfortable. Recent studies indicate that many of the metabolic and psychological abnormalities associated with GH deficiency can be reversed with GH replacement, even at low doses which are not associated with side effects. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
222135 tn?1236488221 The BiPAP allows for different pressure when you inhale and exhale. At my titration stay, I just couldn't handle the continuous pressure. Felt like I was drowning, even though it was air. Mine also has water to be like a little personal humidifier. Great for the sinuses! Not too attractive, but it really has already started to help.
