Common Questions and Answers about Cpap nasal spray

cpap

Avatar m tn NO! I would talk with your MD about his issue, also get some nasal spray to help with the irritation. You can also get KY jelly(water based) product to help moisten your nasal passages.
Avatar f tn The tech only brought the nose mask and a nasal pad setup with no humidifier. I tried the nasal pad and it feels like a knife going in my nose.I tried nose gel and spray. Wow, I am not a baby but this hurt. I am calling tomorrow (Monday) to let them know that, first off, I too am a mouth breather, and also need a humidifier. Thank God this first machine and mask is a test of sorts for month. They were worried about this equipment costing so much without a prescription plan.
1237284 tn?1267997794 This is my 3rd attemp to get use to the cpap. I do very well with the machine itself, but then in 3 days- I have been getting a sinus & or upper resperitory infection. Im sure this is caused my bacteria. Is there a better way to clean this thing after each use ? Is there some sort of solution or spray I can use that is better than vinegar & warm water ? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I am looking for just the right one.Herbal products if found seem to be my choice if found.I have also used nasal spray added to the water. Let us find an affordable water additive and cleaner which can help all of us.Suggestions please.
Avatar m tn Allergy treatment with nasal steroids /antihistamines and moisturizing nasal spray for 4 months did not resolve the issue. Thanks for the help.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I use 17 cmH2O pressure and a full face & chin strap under the jaw around the head. My epiglottis blows open so this pushes my tongue to the roof of my mouth and stops it from continually puffing, swallowing air etc. I spray my nose with a prescription nose spray before cpap use. It's more humid here so I stopped using heated humidity and my boggy sinuses stopped staying infected. I have OSA, inheirited insomnia, Rls & Plms, I am an RpSGT also.
Avatar n tn One good option is to use nasal saline irrigation regularly, especially before you use your CPAP machine. Pick one that is vigorous or forceful, and not the gentle mist kind. Saline acts a a decongestant, and should help to open up your nose and sinus passageways. I would also find better ways of dealing with your stress. One simple options is to learn deep-breathing exercises. You can get DVDs or videos, or even take yoga or tai chi classes. Regular exercise is also very important.
Avatar m tn Difficult to get supplemental oxygen to lungs with nasal cannula when blockage occured. Cpap set at level 9 unable to force air through the barrier. Pulse nasal/sinus irrigation only effective means of removing some of the blockage.
Avatar m tn I wanted to make CPAP work better, tried prescription nasal spray, still only one nostril open. Went on an elimination diet searching for food allergies/sensitivities. Bingo. Eliminated two very common foods, and both my nostrils are now wide open with no blockage. I kept getting periodic sinus infections from the CPAP. So I have found, if I sleep on my side, and eliminate the two foods which bother me, I sleep very well without CPAP.
Avatar f tn Make sure that your mask fits properly and a CPAP machine that uses a heated humidifier can help relieve these side effects. A saline nasal spray at bedtime may also help. If it persists, talk to your sleep specialist for further evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn re in a dust-laden environment, then naturally, the hairs in your nostrils will trap the dust. But if you have allergies or any other nasal condition that causes mucous production, then this needs to be addressed. If you have trouble breathing, see you doctor or an ENT physician, who should be able to help you. Being able to breathe well through your nose is important if you want CPAP to work well.
Avatar f tn Yes it it safe I had a cold and the doctors still recommend nasal spray for me!
Avatar f tn The only thing that allows me to breathe is a nasal spray equivalent to afrin. I used to be addicted yrs ago but now I only use it in dire emergency....like before eating or bed because I can't sleep if I can't breathe through my nose. In the past 3 days I've only used it at night and a couple other times during the day when it was really bad! I try to hold off as long as possible without using it. And I only use 1 or 2 sprays and usually only in 1 nostril.
Avatar f tn If it's,allergies you could take benadryl. That helps me when im sick and stuffy.
Avatar n tn I just read a terrifying article about pregnant women using nasal spray in their first 3 months of pregnancy. It said it cause heart and stomach defects. I used it off and on almost my entire first 6 weeks before I found out I was pregnant. Anybody else out there know anything?
1173253 tn?1263496613 I am not sleeping as I keep taking off the CPAP to blow my nose or to cough. Could I be allergic to the CPAP, or the dirt or germs in the tubing, or to the air that is sucked in thru the CPAP? No matter how good I feel in the day.....I get worse at night? Help Please.
974371 tn?1424653129 I use all the Biotene products that help for about 2 mins. Yes, use nasal saline spray and nasal gel. This mucus issue started a few months ago. One Doc says it is from my nose. One Doc says it is from my bronchi. One Doc has no idea. I love the doctors here. Have used a humidifier. Been tested fir Sjorgens with blood work and two biopsies, negative. Given an inhaler and nasal sprays but can't use them as they make the dry throat worse!
Avatar f tn In addition, the allergic symptoms are often treated with a drying nasal spray (like Atrovent) and antihistamines like chlopheneramine and lovatidine are effective. Discuss these options with your doctor when you happen to meet him next time. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
967168 tn?1477584489 Thanks Lisa, I took a look. I didn't read the complete thread but what I have read has "opened" my eyes that I may need to do something to open my nasal passages and closing my mouth. I may try the breath right strips or nose cones, as well as some of the other practices... maybe even go see an nose and throat specialist.
Avatar f tn Before my surgery I had a blocked sinus cavity that I was unaware of but my ns saw it on one of my mri's. The entire prescribed fluticasone nasal spray. As soon as I started it, my snoring stopped which was a pleasant side affect, especially for my dh! Even tho the sinus is long since cleared, dh reminds me every day to use the spray lol. I don't have sleep apnea so I don't know if this would help, but I thought it was interesting. .
Avatar m tn I have seen a doc on 19 Mar and she diagnosed me with nasal congestion being the root cause of my headache. She prescribed me Nasal Spray (Nasonex), Flu Medication (Fenfedrin) and asked me to continue Panadol Actifast. Panadol Actifast has worked for me from 15 Mar until 20 Mar but since 21 Mar, Panadol Actifast doesn't work for me anymore. I'm really at wits end because the bear can be really unbearable at times. Does anyone have such experience or know what's going on with me?
Avatar m tn He now uses Midrin and Indomethicin for migraine abatement which is sometimes helpful and at times has to use Stadol nasal spray. He takes an aspirin a day as he was having recurrent TIAs and the risk on Coumadin was too great. He tried Plavix(was allergic) and Aggrenox which increased the headache frequency. We are just at a loss with his current neurologist and feel he is at a loss of what to do.
