My tiny four pound Maltese/Poodle cross has been coughing and I was wondering if someone has any ideas. He is about 8 1/2 and has had issues with his behavoir. He won't let us have him groomed without him trying to bite us or get his nails trimmed, so every four months or so we have to have him knocked out to have this done. I wasn't sure if this was some of his problem from the stuff they give him or what, but he does it alot especially at night.
Actually we are currently out of town however I did contact our Vet and she also said it could be kennel cough, which is odd since our dog is an indoor dog and is never around other dogs. She also said it could be a nasty cold... since we cannot make it in right now she recommended I get some Benadryl and give her 1/2 teaspoon 3 times a day. Ever since we begun to give her the medicine she seems to have gotten much better.
does anybody know if you can have covonia cough medicine during pregnancy? I've not stopped coughing my guts up for a week now, I've tried everything else and nothing's worked. I've drank hot drinks, had soup, paracetamol, plenty of water and rest, lemon and honey. Nothing's worked and I'm constantly coughing.

Jersey starting having diarrhea real bad then he started coughing so hard he was dry heaving and nothing was coming out. So we went to the vet. He said he wasn't sure what was wrong n put him on some antibiotics n something for his stomach. That night the coughing got worse and kept us up all night. Took him back the next day n the vet said he had tracheitis and it wasn't an infection it was mechanical? Gave him a shot and another medicine.

My dog has not had any observed seizures before taking this medicine. My dog began this medicine and within 6 days we noticed him foaming at the mouth. The next day he was foaming at the mouth, coughing, and lost bowel control. The next evening he had two seizures so we took him to the vet. They thought from symptoms we described it was acid reflux. Next night he had two more severe seizures and we videotaped it. They confirmed they were seizures then. We discontinued this med.

My 5 year old miniature schnauzer is 5 years old. She has started coughing and is becoming more frequent. It is almost a panting cough? She also has a bad odor. Which has been going on for a month or two.(odor). I have listened to her chest with a stethescope and she is breathing fast and it sounds thick and dry. I thoguht it was maybe just a case of dust because we mulched leaves (oak and pecan) and we didn't have a bag on the mower and it got pretty dusty.

But they should definitely look closely at her trachea. She is likely exhausted from the wheezing and coughing which would affect her appetite. Our dog used to gag a bit at first when she was eating but we started her treatment very quickly so she got better very quickly. I hope you find out soon what it is so your girl can be properly treated and comfortable again. Please post updates to let us know how she is doing.

My dog just passed away today with an enlarged heart/ heart attack. He was on Temeril P for his whole life (9 years) . Today Is when I found out he had an enlarged heart (this was never caught before) ..I was wondering could the Temeril P have caused him to get an enlarged heart? His heart was so big that it was pushing up on his trachea which was causing him to breath heavy. Over a good period could this medication/ steriod have gotten him sick where he died?
My 12 yr. old pug has been coughing for 3 months. I have been to two different vets and together they have ruled out collapsed trachea, kennel cough, pneumonia and heart disease. He has been on several different antibiotics and steriods. He is still eating as usual and the coughing seems to be worse at night. They are not productive coughs just dry hacking coughs. My dog is constantly licking his paws and body. Every time he does this he hacks and coughs like he has a hairball in his throat. He has recurring skin problems that present as scabby, slightly smelly places on his back, left side, stomach and chest. I have combed/brushed these areas and hair always comes out with the scab. I give him Brewers Yeast w/garlic every day in his food. He gets glucosamine (sp) twice a day.
