Avatar f tn She said it is normal because the baby is getting larger and pushing on different organs. She said it will stop around 20wks and then start again around 32 and stop right when you are ready to go into labor.

Avatar f tn So I had them regular for 2 days then yesterday started losing my plug. Went to the hospital just to get checked and my contractions were like every 3 minutes. They kept me. J had to get an iv and 3 shots to help stop the contractions!!! Thank god they slowed down and I was able to come home! Still uncomfortable but hoping she will stay in for a couple weeks more!!
Avatar f tn But here if you are having contractions they can give you magnesium drip through IV and medicine to stop contractions. Then they put you on bedrest until 36 weeks usually. If you are dilated too far though they can't stop it so they tend to send you to a specialty childrens hospital that has a good newborn intensive care unit.

Avatar f tn Just keeping walking, if you have stairs walk up and down them and if you feel contractions dnt stop walking. Thats how i got myself to dialate was walking through the contractions, kind of took the pain off my mind as well.
5603486 tn?1372218164 they should continue until you go into labor. they call them practice contractions, but they are more just like preparation contractions. your body prepares for what's to come. So they should continue to remind you what to look for, and until the worsen, become more regular, are stronger and longer lasting and painful, then those are more the real deal. The bh won't go away though .
7174950 tn?1406661109 Contractions feel different for every person.. just time them if they are consistant and 5 minutes apart its the real deal .
Avatar f tn I went to the labor and delivery last night, my contractions were 5 minutes apart when I went in. I'm 36 weeks and they gave me a shot to stop contractions. Ugh! I told them just to let me have her. I'm soooooo done being pregnant.
Avatar n tn It is possible, but they will continue to stop contractions till you are closer to 37 weeks. This is my 4th baby and I have gone ito premature labor twice already. Once at 32 weeks and again at 34 weeks, doctors stopped it both times. Now that I am 36 weeks they have decided to not stop it again should it happen cause of being so close to 37 weeks. My 3rd child I went through the same thing.
4387114 tn?1355864612 yes I would call the hospital as if they are contractions which I think they are if you wat a couple of hours you will probab ly have started dialting and they wont be able to stop it, its much better if they can stop the contractions, just make sure your well hydrated as being dehydrated can cause contractions but how you have described them, they sound like the real deal, explain how they are to the nurse, exactly how you have here, make sure you say that movement or a warm bath doesnt stop th
Avatar f tn Lol a week before I was due I woke up to really bad stomach pain -which eventually later on in real labor I found out they were contractions- I was so sleepy that after about 5 contractions every maybe 4 mins getting less painful as they went on I fell asleep and they stopped !
Avatar f tn just stopping." Good job Sini!! You're right, it's a daily struggle. I started getting ready to stop smoking about 5yrs ago. I decided not to smoke in my car anymore. I suffer from anxiety, so I'm never away from the house for more than 2hrs max and I figured I could at LEAST go without a cigarette that long.
Avatar f tn My midwife told me that if you drink 32oz of water, and lay on your side and rest braxton hicks will stop. If its real contractions, they will stop, but then come back shortly only way more intense and then you know if your really in labor.
5492154 tn?1374801006 37 weeks been having contractions consistently for a week 3cm dilated and 50% effaced dr just keeps sending me home saying I'm too early I'm too early, not giving anything to help with the pain from the contractions or anything and I'm at my wits end! This is my third son I get he could use the time but the stress this is putting on my body has my blood pressure high and his heart rate higher than normal!
Avatar f tn She gave me a shot to stop the contractions, literally made them worse I hated it. So she gave me another and I threw up, was in a hot sweat, and felt completely horrible! Soooo she decided to give me a shot in my butt to help the baby's lung develop, she said nothing was wrong but just incase he decided to come early ? Then decided to give me ANOTHER shot for my contractions, by this time I was over it I just wanted to go home I felt so horrible I threw up two more times...
Avatar f tn Woke up at 730am getting contractions they were 10 mins apart but then started getting closer together about 4-6 mins and strong lasting up to a min. But now for the past 14mins I haven't felt anything! I'm so ready for my son I want these contractions! Side note: woke up craving a tuna melt.. made myself a tune melt waiting for these pains to start again. Should I call doc?
689265 tn?1251130087 The girl I nannied for she had contractions like that. they were full blown contractions and then just stopped and then a day later they started again and she ended up having her baby.
Avatar f tn No real contractions are just that...they are real and progress into labour... and because the contractions do stop that means they are BH... to rule out true labour contractions your are supposed to do the opposite of what you were doing when they started... if your resting and you feel them then get up and move around and they should subside... if you are walking or are being active when you rest they should subside...
5431850 tn?1381682097 Last night I went to the hospital for lower back pain and come to find out I was indeed contracting. They gave me two shots of brethine/terbutaline to stop them. Now I'm home on bed rest for today. If this happens again then I will be on bed rest for rest of my pregnancy, which I can not afford. I'm the only income for my house =( have any of you received the shot to stop contractions? Did yours end up coming back? I'm only 26+1 weeks and I'm scared.
Avatar f tn 4-6 or more regular contractions in an hour are probably more than by contractions. If you've had regular contractions for 5 hours you may want to go get checked out tonight and not wait.
Avatar f tn 30...is it normal for them to just stop? Will they be off and on...possibly not even happening for a whole day until the are the real deal? Thanks!
Avatar f tn is there a way to stop contractions or no ?
Avatar f tn Naah, I wouldn't worry. If you'd landed face down or hit your belly that's one thing but your tailbone is really meant to absorb that kind of impact. Take some Tylenol if you're sore, a little heat might help too, but no need to rush in for just a fall. Obviously if anything changes - if you have several contractions or see any bleeding or stop feeling normal movement - that's a different story. But for now as long as everything else is normal I wouldn't worry at all.
