My midwife told me it was normal and my tummy has been getting tight throughout the day today but still no pain at all.. I'm just nervous because what if its serious. I am experiencing back pain and cramping but only when laying on my left side. I just don't know what to think. I'm trying to relax for now.

Since you're 4 cm dilated, you're having contractions. Some women have higher pain tolerances and view the contractions as cramps and don't notice them all that much. My guess is you'll have a fairly easy labor, if you haven't already had the baby. Happy pushing!

and at morning i was experiencing lilbit of such contractions but at night all contractions just gone..the thing was it should increase but it gradually decressed...why so...

So heres the deal girls.... I'm 37 weeks bout to be 38 tomorrow ... on July first i went to the hospital due to cramping and they told me i had urine infection and that's what caused my cramping but i was dialed to 3 cm, but my cervix was thick. So I'm on antibiotics and i had a follow up with my ob and he said my cervix still thick and I'm dilated almost 4 but i have no contractions...

im 34 wks preg and today all day ive just felt off and light cramping in the last 2hrs ive felt diarhea cramps but no diarhea and just feel light cramps and very tired and umcomfortable.Idk what this means but im starting to panic.

I've had 2 births with no pain meds. I will not have pain meds with this one either. However I don't bash moms who decide to go for the pain meds as we all tolerate pain differently. I would ask your OB what ur options are, research the medicines and the effects on babies, and make your decision thusly.

My hands and feet swoll over night and I can barely walk. I have no idea what the heck is going on with my body. No contractions or Braxton hicks. All I have is sharp pain in my thighs when the baby moves. Any advice to help this kid along? I'm so tired and just want him in my arms!

So I went for my 39 week check up and I am 4 cm dilated but cervix still a bit thick. My doctor said she wants it paper thin. I've did some walking but NOTHING. I'm getting irritated cause im having contractions (but not close) back pain and lots of pressure. I'm finna walk up and down the stairs and maybe try some squats. I had it happen to me in the middle of the night n I go to the bathroom n nothing comes out but pee. But I still have really bad stomach pain n what I do is lay back down n try to rest n most of the time it goes away.

I'm in pain every four minutes I have contractions. I was monitored for two hours and the contractions never got closer but the pain did. It hurts soooo much. I was released because I'm only 1cm dialated and the Dr said its still too early but I'm in solo much pain with every contraction!!!

I didnt think they were contractions at first but when I was having a non stress test friday the monitor showed when I had that pain it was a contraction.. its just weird because it hurts a lot more when I have to pee.. I thought contractions felt like period cramps? Im kind of confused but so ready to meet my babygirl.

Cause i had some whitish discharge 2 days ago and my back was aching but no pain or contractions in tummy , so i was wondering if it was mucus plug or what?

No idea if spina bifida will cause more back pain during labour or not, but I agree with a poster above, the contractions do get painful but its a gradual increase so you get used to it, and plus you get breaks in between contractions to recover (I'd take labour over period pain anyday). Highly recommend waterbirth as that took my pain from unbearable to about a 5 or 6.

Is that just the uncomfortable of the pregnancy or could these be contractions? I have had contractions and braxton hicks but they all feel so different.

mikkijb i would stay as close to the hospital as well did they tell you how often you were havimg the contractions. I was not feeling contractions or pain at all but they still kept me.

So I talked to my doctor and he says that they are real contractions but not labor contractions?? Is this possible? (I guess I assume it is because my doctor said so, but it seems so unreal!) Has anyone else had this? If so, how long did you have to deal with these really painful contractions that last quite a long while but then disappear back into BH contractions?
