Avatar f tn Typically your labor starts before your water breaks.. Less then 10% of women's water breaks on it's own before labor. I'm on child number 3 and never has my water broke b4 labor began.
Avatar f tn They keep you..because once your water breaks baby must be delivered within so many hours because of risk of infection.

Avatar f tn if your water breaks gosh. You can't control it you would definitely know if your water broke. I'm sure you're just frequently urinating. I've never heard of the one being able to stop her water. But I'm also not very familiar in that area so I could be completely wrong.

Avatar n tn I wouldn't wait more than a few hours if your water breaks... With my 1st son my water broke before feeling any contractions. I didn't go to the hospital until 3 hours later. With my 2nd the contractions started at 2am, went to the hospital around 6am. I was only dilated to 3 or 4 so they didn't admit me. I went back like 6 hours later when the pain was too much, was dilated to 7 so I was admitted. My water broke a couple hours later.
Avatar f tn What does it feel like when your water breaks?! Like how can i tell if im using the bathroom, or taking a shower/bath?!
Avatar n tn I had contractions before my water broke, then when my water broke it was a pop, and a constant flow of water, A LOT of fluid. Then it felt like a whole bunch of pressure went away, contractions stopped and a few hours later returned.

Avatar f tn You don't have to go in straight away. But they do want you to give birth within 24 hours of your water breaking so you don't get an infection. If your water breaks there's no reason you can't wait a couple hours to get everything ready and leave. And when you're there tell them you first want to see if you progress yourself before they try starting pitocin if you don't speak up is when they just do stuff. But you can refuse any medical treatment you want.
Avatar f tn My doctor thinks I'm gonna go into labor on my own this week.
Avatar n tn I am now pregnant with my 3rd and was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar situation, but was able to get contractions started on your own. Or how long did you wait before seeking medical intervention?
Avatar f tn Once your water breaks it is always imperative to go to the hospital because there is less fluid protecting the baby, a risk of infection and a need to deliver within 24 to 48hours. If your water breaks before you have contractions, your doctor will most oikely induce unless you can speed labor on your own through walking and other natural techniques..they also try to do less examinations to avoid infections. I hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Yes you can take a shower idk if I would be taking soap and washing my vag I don't want soap getting up there. But I plan to shower and wash the rest of me and warm water wash my stuff. Then do my hair and make up. I have babies bag packed I just need a few things for mine that will be last minute. As long as when your water breaks you contractions aren't right on top of each other you have time. Oh and I'll eat too.
Avatar f tn When your water breaks call your Dr and they will go over everything with you, if you aren't having contractions yet they will probably say to stay home for a little however if you are or if anything is off about your water (if its not clear or has an odor) they will probably tell you to come down right away
Avatar n tn I've never heard of people doing that exactly for the reason as Joanna is saying! Your makeup will be down your face by the end and your hair I'm sure will be I'm a ponytail or a bun.
Avatar f tn I'm 36 weeks but I was wondering if my water breaks do I still have time to take a shower get dressed and go to the hospital or should I call an ambulance and go right away, I've heard with contractions I have time to get ready then go depending how strong they are but what about my water breaking?
Avatar f tn s actually really rare that your water will break first before contractions. Mine broke at 38 weeks with my first. I had back labor all day before it broke otherwise I had no idea I was in labor. I just thought my back hurt really bad! Hahaha!
