Typically your labor starts before your water breaks.. Less then 10% of women's water breaks on it's own before labor. I'm on child number 3 and never has my water broke b4 labor began.

My water broke without contractions. I was advisedto head in when I called the Dr. We took our time and husband took a shower. I got there about 2 hrs later and contractions were finally just starting. They did give me pitocin right away also to get it moving since I was barely dialated.

I wouldn't wait more than a few hours if your water breaks... With my 1st son my water broke before feeling any contractions. I didn't go to the hospital until 3 hours later. With my 2nd the contractions started at 2am, went to the hospital around 6am. I was only dilated to 3 or 4 so they didn't admit me. I went back like 6 hours later when the pain was too much, was dilated to 7 so I was admitted. My water broke a couple hours later.

Yes you can take a shower idk if I would be taking soap and washing my vag I don't want soap getting up there. But I plan to shower and wash the rest of me and warm water wash my stuff. Then do my hair and make up. I have babies bag packed I just need a few things for mine that will be last minute. As long as when your water breaks you contractions aren't right on top of each other you have time. Oh and I'll eat too.

When your water breaks call your Dr and they will go over everything with you, if you aren't having contractions yet they will probably say to stay home for a little however if you are or if anything is off about your water (if its not clear or has an odor) they will probably tell you to come down right away

I've never heard of people doing that exactly for the reason as Joanna is saying! Your makeup will be down your face by the end and your hair I'm sure will be I'm a ponytail or a bun.

I'm 36 weeks but I was wondering if my water breaks do I still have time to take a shower get dressed and go to the hospital or should I call an ambulance and go right away, I've heard with contractions I have time to get ready then go depending how strong they are but what about my water breaking?

s actually really rare that your water will break first before contractions. Mine broke at 38 weeks with my first. I had back labor all day before it broke otherwise I had no idea I was in labor. I just thought my back hurt really bad! Hahaha!

They keep you..because once your water breaks baby must be delivered within so many hours because of risk of infection.

Hello ladys im 39 weeks today i was wondering is it possible to start getting contractions before water breaks..? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question first timer here. Ive startes for an hour now cramps on and my stomach feels tight then normal hope that makes sence am i experiencing bad braxton hicks? Could it be the start of labor? Help!!

My water broke maybe half an hour before my contractions started, I headed to the birthing center about 12 hours later when contractions were less than 5 minutes apart, my son arrived almost exactly 21 hours after SROM.

Every person is different. I know some women there water breaks and they have baby shortly after, and I no more women whose water broke and they didn't have there baby till 6-12 hours later.

Some women's contractions start right away, some not for hours and some women's water doesnt even break until near the end of labor. For me, my water breaking is what started my labor, I wasn't having contractions before my water broke with my second son. I work um at 830 in the morning, felt a big pop and my water broke in a gush. My contractions started a few minutes later and were 3-4 minutes apart. My labor from start to finish was 7hrs.

So when your water breaks is it like a whole lot at one time? Or does it slowly like "leak" in a way?

If your water fully breaks the best way to explain it is that it feels like a water balloon breaking in your vag. I was always told 24 hours for risk of infection.
