Avatar f tn I was told by a health care professional that I should use a cheaper alternative (~6 cents a day) that was recently recommended by Consumer Reports and is available at CostCo and Sams Club. Are all omega supplement truly alike? The reason I chose OmegaBrite is that it is a pharmaceutical grade, kosher, fish derived from the Antarctic, and product was developed/recommended by a Harvard researcher (Stoll). Am I being foolish by my decision, or should I go with the cheaper alternative?
Avatar n tn Because lack of potassium in the diet is rare, there is no recommended daily allowance (RDA) for potassium, although adults should get a minimum of 1,600 mg to 2,000 mg of potassium a day and children should get at least 1,000 mg per day.
Avatar m tn Determine what your needs are and look at vitamins and supplements for your needs. So if you need immune boosting supplements start there, or if you are interested in improving your memory, or just over all health. You can also get a lot of what you need from foods. If you have access to a good store that sells these products get to know the owner or an employee who is knowledgeable. Explain your needs.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Yeah indeed food is always better and way more bioavailable as I encourage here. Isolated vitamins are good too but they are meant for a different usage eg as a tool, when not having the time to eat well, recovery. As for vitamin D3, you won't enough of it from any non-supplemented kind of food. The only way to get efficient D3 (which is not a vitamin but a steroid hormone miscalled a vitamin) is from UVB. Supplementation with enough D3 could compensate a lack of sun exposure.
Avatar f tn We dropped by Babies R Us and talked to the gal at the registry counter. She gave us a layette list, and we bought a book from Consumer Reports about baby things, and the Girlfriend's Guide book about baby things. We then looked over the list from Babies R Us and check marked some things and crossed out others, and then went back to the store and developed our registry.
Avatar m tn If anyone is interested there is a multi level program that sells isotonic vitamins and their reservatol is their star product. I used to use and sell the products, and I'm thinking about getting back into it so that I could purchase them at wholesale. Would anyone be interested in this as you have to sell a certain amount. Its really not a difficult program.. and I am not currently doing it, but if anyone is interested in it let me know and I'll look into it.
Avatar n tn The company that sells this product should be able to tell you what the active ingredients are and what amount of vitamins and minerals are contained in each supplement. The definition of "supplement" is to be combined with another source. You need to make sure the product has the min required recommendations for folic acid etc. I am always concerned when one product can be used for all age groups and conditions.
Avatar f tn Passing a consumer labs test is a useful thing, no question, but just because the label is correct on the one batch checked by consumer labs doesn't mean the next batch will match or the previous batch matched. But a certain degree of variation is okay, and consumer labs doesn't usually tell you that -- pharmaceutical products are allowed a certain percentage of variation without falling into violation.
Avatar n tn read the label for active ingredience and any side affects, run it by your MD if you have one, if you don't research the product on the internet as much as you can on sites like 'consumer reports' and google the product name and add 'in the news' at the end.
Avatar f tn s interesting that you question the accuracy of your glucose meter for I was reading the September 2008 issues of Consumer Reports that rated both blood-pressure monitors and blood-glucose meters. Only one blood-glucose meter scored excellent overall and also scored the highest for consistency- the Johnson & Johnson Lifescan OneTouch Ultra Mini. The Ultra Mini was followed by Ascensia Contour, ReliOn Ultima (WalMart), and Accu-check Compact Plus.
Avatar f tn For me, I have found Standard Processing Lab vitamins and supplements to be the best. I can not take any other brand as they are synthetic and these are food grade. Even with these, I have to be careful or they will give me a tummy ache, but, then, so do all supplements, I don't care what kind I take, I get horrific tummy aches from them, this one, at least, is the best for me.
Avatar f tn I recommend subscribing to consumer lab the following is the web address. http://www.consumerlab.
Avatar m tn There does seem to be an increasing interest in vitamins & supplements. I'm not a physician ot a nutritionist, and I would recommend you talk with your doctor about your question. There are plenty of supplements lining supermarket shelves and it sure is difficult to figure out which ones can be a real benefit (to the consumer) and which ones simply add profits to the sellers' bottom line.
1348302 tn?1286575703 Consumer Lab tests various herbs, vitamins and supplements. Some contain high levels of lead or not the stated amount. the plant that it's made from some manufacturers use the worst part of the plant instead of the best part .As for capsules the ingredients of some don't dissolve at the proper time and the composition of some caps I wouldn't touch. I will try and do a search on caps and post that.
Avatar n tn Is there a way to track my vitamin supplements so that they show up on the nutrition charts?
8012558 tn?1399308657 I was so excited how easy is to take them, but I just read some not so good reviews about gummy vitamins. Now I feel bad because I think they are not going to do a good job. I have vitamin D deficiency (was told it's inherited) and it is important for me to take them on daily bases. I also take multivitamin, vitamin C, and Fish-Oil (all gummies). Does anyone have experience with taking gummies and did they worked for you? I am also worried about sugar intake now.
961574 tn?1520648103 Both of these prenatal vitamins contain a mix of ingredients that not only help with your babies development but also helps the mother with the necessary nutrients and minerals needed to keep her healthy. These prenatal vitamins also have some of the best reviews I have found from consumers and professionals. Trimedisyn is a product that is at the top of my list for prenatal vitamins and is the prenatal vitamin I had my wife use during her pregnancy.
Avatar f tn But your test might be just as accurate -- have you looked up consumer reports on the lab you used? If you are satisfied with their reputation, I am not sure why you would think the test is wrong besides just nerves.

Avatar f tn Thanks for your reply. I was planning on adding 3 multivitamins because not all of them contain the same ones. Also I was under the impression that the RDA% is for those without autoimmune problems so I might have gotten this wrong. I don't know if the iron is a non-constipating type or not. It's had good reviews and the reviews don't seem to mention constipation so maybe it's okay. Multivitamin (effervescent tablet) - RDAs are: Vitamin C - 1250% Vitamin A - 87.
Avatar m tn I am looking for a quality supplier for herbs, vitamins, and other natural products. I've heard there are differences in quality. I figure if I am going to spend my money, I want it to be on something worthwhile. So what does everyone else do? Do you have a favorite supplier? If so, why? I cannot really find any third party reviews on these type of products.
Avatar f tn how did it work for you? Please.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to take levoxyl and iron supplements both together on an empty stomach???
Avatar n tn We heard about this product on internet, we saw some positive reviews from their users as well. So, we order this product with lot of expectation, not a good time to judge this product as she just started, but of course she looks more relax and calm than before, now we are hoping for some best treatment from Menersa.
