Avatar f tn m really foggy about most of the details of the later half of my night. My friend told me I hit the back of my head really hard on a concrete wall (more than once). I vaguely think I might remember the first hit, but I have no recollection of the next couple hours, apparently I literally could not walk on my own and I vomited about 20 times. I start to remember when I got home (somewhat) because I remember vomiting another five times.
779793 tn?1235856226 My GF's toy Yorkie was spooked and fell off my dining room table this morning where he landed on flat his right side. She brought him to me as he was unresponsive, not breathing and had a very slow/or no heart rate. I was able to revive him and we rushed him to the vet where he started to gain some coherence, but still lacked coordination and was unable to sit or stand. The DVM gave him a subQ anti-inflammatory and 1/2 of a Valium for his muscle rigidity.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
Avatar n tn Look, none of us can diagnose you from the internet, but a doctor can't diagnose a concussion without testing symptoms in some way. A concussion is a clearly defined something, not just a term thrown around. I would probably go back to your doctor and clarify what's going on, and ask to see a neurologist. The problem is, your symptoms are right in line with post concussion syndrome, but anxiety symptoms include almost anything.
Avatar m tn It impacts the liver, kidneys, every body part .... and yes, the brain of course. Concussion is when some action causes the brain itself to move and impact the inside of the skull. It can be a passive injury that causes no more than a headache ... or it can be very much worse by affecting motor skills and pupil dialation, even speech patterns. Concussion may appear like intoxication but any good doctor would be able to know the difference by just doing a blood test!
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
868804 tn?1239583770 About three years ago I had a concussion in a soccer game. I was knocked unconscious, but got up and managed to play the second half of the game. (big mistake) After the game I felt very sick and when my mom came to pick me up she took me to the hospital right away. The doctors said i had a concussion and gave my mom **** for letting me play the second half. I had a couple more concussions and ended up taking a full year off of all physical activity, as directed by a neurologist.
Avatar f tn In the ER they did a CT Scan of my head which has radiation in it. I also had to have an xray of my elbow because they thought it was broken. Each time they triple covered my belly with the lead shields and baby girl is doing just fine.
Avatar f tn The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head. It hurts on the right side of my neck too and around my ear area, but this is on the right side not the left where i got hit. I've been trying to figure out what might be wrong or if it's just an allergy headache that i get everyday. I havent been to the doc yet, not sure if its serious enough..
Avatar f tn Light sensitivity, trouble focusing at near, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision are part of the post concussion syndrome. Not every person has every symptom and not every clears at the same rate. If you need glasses for distance generally you are myopic or nearsighted. That is not due to concussion. You should be seen by an Eye MD ophthalmologist for a medical eye exam.
Avatar n tn oooh ok...I heard of Geisinger......I am on the east side of PA...1.5 hrs outside Philly. I think it is awful that we have to "shop" for our drs.....we can't trust that because they r drs that they will offer the best treatment options. Please let me know where u decide to go and how it all turns out!!
Avatar f tn I had a very bad fall 2 weeks ago, hitting my head very, very hard on window sill. I had a CT & the diagnosis was a concussion but for the past 4 days I have the feeling I cannot get enough air & like I want to yawn but can't. Has anyone had this problem? It's only been since the concussion. No chest pain.
Avatar m tn Unresolved within a limited window, such swelling can lead to the death of brain cells and parts of the brain such as the pituitary and hypothalamus. The time to death of the cells is referred to as the warm ischemic time. There is no evidence whatsoever that a concussion will make anyone smarter. There may or may not be a degradtion in your cognition, memory and reasoning. The human brain is very resilient.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if there is another condition that had similar symptoms to post concussion syndrome. I have all of the most commonCommon coldsymptoms such as fatigue, nausea, migrains, mood swings, difficulty concentrating and remembering, but I also loss blocks of time, I pass out, and often experience some numbnessNumbness and tinglingon one side of my body. Could I have something other than Post Concussion Syndrome, and if so what?
Avatar m tn Ya, its a concussion and they take time to recover from. Unfortunately, this is an ADHD forum and we really don't deal with that as its out of our area of expertise. But how long ago did this happen?
Avatar m tn m wondering if my condition is reversable. If the atlas is what was knocked out of place during my concussion, is there a way to make it permanently stay in place? My meds cause me to be tired and distant from freinds and wondering if I'm going to be stuck with this the rest of my life is really starting to wear on me. If the atlas is not the soloution is there any way to reverse a concussion at all?
Avatar n tn I had a slight concussion, and whip lash. Ever since then I have had severe headaches on the left side of my head and frequent dizziness. The headaches start on the left side of my neck and travel into my head. I wake up in severe pain everyday, and if I move my neck the wrong way or sleep the wrong way, I am severly dizzy all day. This has been very dibilatating during the past two years. I spent months in physical therapy and there was no real relief.
Avatar m tn A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere. In absence of these symptoms and based on the history a diagnosis of concussion is given. If concussion is severe, and there is underlying brain injury, then yes, even death can occur. Hope this helps! Take care!
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn my father was in a motorcycle accident and hit the right front side of his head and can now not taste or smell anything he can tell hot cold but not salt or sugar when will this come back?
Avatar m tn My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases. As for epilepsy, I have it.
Avatar m tn After a concussion, the levels of brain chemicals are altered. It usually takes about a week for these levels to stabilize again. However, the time it takes to recover from a concussion is variable, so avoid all strenuous activity till complete recovery. Also, avoid alcohol but you could take coffee. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I can tell you from personal experience that a concussion can leave you with a variety of neurological issues for over a year. I had a severe concussion appr. 5 years ago. I hit the base of my skull against a metal storage rack. I did not fall unconscious but had to immediately rest as I was feeling off. I actually tried to not fall asleep as I was worried about internal bleeding.
Avatar f tn Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.
Avatar n tn Until the effects from the concussion are better you should not be doing any kind of exercise. I would follow up with your Dr on your concussion sinc eit has been a month.
