concussion

Avatar n tn I just had one more. A couple a days ago I noticed that he now has two knots on his spine at the top of his neck in between his shoulder blades that sticks out really far when he puts his head down to his chest. could that be from him falling backwards before and is just now showing up. Again thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn The Neurologist said that the dizziness (rocking) was from the ongoing post concussion symptoms---even after I explained that all of the other symptoms subsided except the rocking. The rocking got worse in Feb when the neck pain got worse. I have a cardiology appt to make sure my hearts ok with a holter monitor. I'm starting to think that this may be an ongoing nerve disorder... Any input from anyone?? thanks!
251315 tn?1198196557 The only way to confirm this is get a MRI of the cervical spine and consult a neurologist. Sometimes the problem is simple and can be corrected by braces, traction and physiotherapy. Surgery is recommended if medical treatment and physiotherapy option fails. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn It has him extremely concerned, and there is nothing in anything we have read that relates this to a symptom of the concussion. Is this normal??? Should we be concerned?? What type of medical help (if any) should we seek? Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!!!
Avatar m tn Sorry, but by now you realize it was not a good idea to put those puppies on the bed. The pup can have a serious injury to it's head, neck or spine. I suggest you get it to the Vet fir an exam. There is no way to reassure you.
Avatar f tn A Syrinx typically will form where the iinjury occurred....such as whip lash in the cervical spine...since it is in your thoracic spine I wonder what other injuries you had. A syrinx is not something they can do much for unless it is of a certain size as shunts and stents can be larger then the syrinx itself. Here is a link to an article about syrinx's and shunts.....http://www.medhelp.
Avatar n tn A skull radiograph may be readily done and a cranial CT scan with a scan of the cervical spine may be requested to rule out any skull fracture and involvement of the spine. Do not sleep until a physician has done a complete physical examination and observed you.Ask someone to accompany you during your consultation and keep your test results for future reference. In the presence of a headache, nausea, vomiting and weakness involving the extremities, immediate intervention may be necessary.
Avatar m tn That sounds like me! I didn't have a concussion, but I had a real problem with short term memory for six months. I don't remember some of that time. I would walk towards a door and bump into the frame because I wasn't steering right. The results of your MRI are similar to my initial ones. Check my profile for a more complete writeup (in my photos.) I can tell you're also having the word substitution problem (or maybe your spell checker is on.
1929236 tn?1323120528 See, some of your list of problems has to do with where the nerves go from the spine, which the ones affecting your hands and fingers and thumb come out of the cervical spine, and then the ones affecting your blood pressure and breathing and the pain between your shoulder blades come out of the thoracic spine, normally T-5 and above, which T-4 is about where the actual nerve injury is since it's always felt one vertebra down at T-5.
1072295 tn?1255449536 Headache and dizziness that came after a few days of the impact on head should be investigated by a MRI of the brain and cervical spine. Such an impact on top of the head can cause cervical spine injuries or nerve compressions and can also cause a slow developing sub dural hematoma. Other possibilities are minor leaks due to burst blood vessel or a mild traumatic brain injury. It can also cause TMJ problems. Ear drums also get burst or ear damage also occur post impact on head.
Avatar f tn I have keretoconus but my eye doctor is one of the best on Sputhern Cal and we have been in top of this for 20 years. ..could my neck be causing all of this. I am seeing a PT AND phd Chiro as well for 2 months now.
Avatar f tn I am a concussion survivor. Could you get a concussion if your head stops suddenly from a fast movement? Yesterday I was in a hurry and running and pushed the door in front of me. It stopped abruptly which caused my body to stop too. Could this cause a concussion? I'm scared because I am recovering from a concussion already. Does it make me more prone to brain injury? Please, help me!
779793 tn?1235856226 My GF's toy Yorkie was spooked and fell off my dining room table this morning where he landed on flat his right side. She brought him to me as he was unresponsive, not breathing and had a very slow/or no heart rate. I was able to revive him and we rushed him to the vet where he started to gain some coherence, but still lacked coordination and was unable to sit or stand. The DVM gave him a subQ anti-inflammatory and 1/2 of a Valium for his muscle rigidity.
Avatar n tn The symptoms seem to be those of an injury to the neck and hence spinal nerves. Please go for an MRI spine with and without contrast and wait for the Neurologist appointment. It is too difficult to give a probable diagnosis without examination and investigations. Treatment has to be commenced thereafter. Please ask your physician for symptomatic treatment. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
471949 tn?1236904026 I was in a car accident about a month ago and had a mild concussion along with injury to my C2-C5. I've had horrible headaches every since the accident. Just yesterday it was so bad that I actually blacked out (hit the floor). I'm dizzy quite often, have ringing in my ears also. I'm being treated by a chiropractor for my neck injury. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn It impacts the liver, kidneys, every body part .... and yes, the brain of course. Concussion is when some action causes the brain itself to move and impact the inside of the skull. It can be a passive injury that causes no more than a headache ... or it can be very much worse by affecting motor skills and pupil dialation, even speech patterns. Concussion may appear like intoxication but any good doctor would be able to know the difference by just doing a blood test!
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn I am a mid 20s female and I had freak fall at work that injured my right shoulder 4 years ago. After over a year I went to several chiropractors due to continued pain and reduced function in my right arm. After taking X-rays one of the chiropractors decided to try mechanical cervical traction to see if that would help. I felt some neck discomfort but no pain during traction.
Avatar n tn I hit my head really hard (fell backwards), had a concussion, and have compression fractures on my spine. I am being treated by doctors, but I have really bad flashing light in my eyes. I was told that I needed to rest and this would subside, but it only seems to be getting worse. Do I need to call the doctor again or will this stop?
Avatar f tn I also had a nerve test in my left arm and it was fine too. It has recently spread down and then up along the left side of my spine. Where its numb along the spine, it always cracks and feels like its burning. I was recently at the movies and sat up and has this terrible pain in my back where its numb. It still hurts and that was a month ago. I also have a pain going down my left arm like its wrapping around and leads to my left pinky - which is almost always numb when I touch it.
Avatar f tn A small CSF leak would cause pain in your neck and back, but it could also be someone knocked your spine out of line. I find a chiropractor helps with spine health. There are natural supplements one can take to help the brain recover. The most important on is fish oil. If you surf 'natural supplements after concussion', lots of suggestions. Good luck and hang in there, it's your brain recovering, not your personality! http://www.adhd.com.au/Post_concussion_Syndrome.
Avatar f tn The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head. It hurts on the right side of my neck too and around my ear area, but this is on the right side not the left where i got hit. I've been trying to figure out what might be wrong or if it's just an allergy headache that i get everyday. I havent been to the doc yet, not sure if its serious enough..
Avatar m tn The last two months i experience a lot of twitching in random parts of my right side of my body(especially when i go to bed and when i wake up and i am still in bed). I can still do all the moves that my left side of my body does, but i do them 10-20% slower on my right side. Untill now i went to a neurologist, and he had some tests done to me(you know balance and close eyes and touch your nose things and everything came out clear.
