Avatar f tn There is currently a serious issue with respect to football players and concussions in the NFL and their symptoms closely mirror what you indicate. Head bounces from a soccer ball can cause skull bone issues especially for younger individuals. For all of you parents reading this post, make sure your children avoid similar manuvers with a soccer ball. The weight of the ball multiplied by the speed of the hit on the head can cause serious injuries for children.

Avatar f tn My friend recently got kicked in the head at a soccer game now whenever she moves her head the inside of her head hurts where she got kicked. Is this just a concussion or worse? She doesn't want to go to a doctor until after the season is over.
868804 tn?1239583770 About three years ago I had a concussion in a soccer game. I was knocked unconscious, but got up and managed to play the second half of the game. (big mistake) After the game I felt very sick and when my mom came to pick me up she took me to the hospital right away. The doctors said i had a concussion and gave my mom **** for letting me play the second half. I had a couple more concussions and ended up taking a full year off of all physical activity, as directed by a neurologist.
Avatar f tn This article you can copy and paste has a lot of info related to concussions. We looked for the signs after my son took a big head splitter in a soccer game and was put under concussion watch. https://my.clevelandclinic.
Avatar n tn I was in a MVA Sept 2007. I have a grade 3 concussion. I have now had PCS for 6 months. Dr's say i'm looking at 1 year before i recover. Avatar n tn the problem is that i dont remember ever hitting my head serious enough other than heading soccer ball when playing soccer. and the distinquishing thing about my case is that my scalp only hurts when the hair is left to grow. when my head is shaved, the pain goes away within few hours of the hair cut. could you please help explain the cause of this pain?.
Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.
Avatar f tn i was at the wrong place, wrong time and 10 guys used my head as a soccer ball, i suffered a major concussion about 8 months ago, it took me about 3 to 4 weeks to recover. i had major dizzy spells and light headedness, to vomiting and trauma. after my recover everything went back to normal and i thank the man upstairs for fully recover.
Avatar f tn I am curious to learn more about post concussion syndrome. In the past 4-5 years I have had 4 or 5 "mild" concussions and am starting to get worried. I received all of these from sports and have since pulled myself from such dangerous situations but I fear I am still dealing with the after effects of my reckless youth. After my last concussion I had extremely bad vertigo, memory loss, and headaches.
Avatar f tn In october 2011 my son was injured in a football game and suffered a subderal hematoma which he was taken to cardial glennon to be treated however surgury was not required the bleeding stopped and absorbed quickly the doctors attributed this to youth and God. He was not allowed to play the rest of the year, but was cleared to wrestle when the season started, his cat scans all came back good and he recovered really well.
Avatar m tn Hello all, this post is in regards to my son, not me. He is 19 and has down syndrome. 12 days ago, he was doing some sprint events, got dizzy and vomited. He gets regular exercise with soccer and basketball so we didn't think much beyond it. We thought he may just be sick but since then, he's had a headache, dizziness, and fatigue for 12 days. A visit to his GP 5 days ago indicated he may have a slight ear infection so he was prescribed a z-pack, but his symptoms have gotten worse.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 15 and is a goalie in soccer. She was kick twice in the top back of each side of her head. She suffer a concussion that she had symptoms for about 3-4 weeks. When the other symptoms subsided she was left with ISH headaches. She tried steroids, pain killer and Benadryl for 6 days and it improved the headaches and now 2 week later she is trying that one more time and has added Melatonin at night to.
Avatar m tn I agree with AnnieBrooke - get a medical check up. To me, you actually sound depressed, which can sap your energy. But I think your concerns are well-founded. If he's not doing anything boys like to do - sports, biking, hiking, etc., it's really time to change that. His childhood is slipping away.
Avatar n tn After my daughter's 2nd concussion in 7weeks from soccer, she is experiencing weakness and numbness in her right side. 4 days after the accident, she is unable to walk without a limp, claiming she feels pins and needles from her butt cheek to her ankle. Her lower arm and hand seem to go numb on and off ... she describes it as hitting her funny bone. Her foot seems to be fine.
Avatar n tn I played football and got sat on the head and the trainer said that I do not have a concussion. The next day I had a headache but medicine made it go away. I was fine for the next three days but after a soccer game I couldn't sleep was hot/cold (changed throughout the night) sweating and woke up with a huge headache in the middle of the night. For the past two days since that night I get odd headaches and get chills.
Avatar m tn If you have pain persisting in temple area and get pain on opening your mouth wide, you are probably suffering from TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder due to the injury. In this your jaw joint is inflamed and causes pain in temple area with dizziness. To get some relief you can try massaging the sore muscles. You have to press on muscles of your face to look for sore points. Then massage these points with short strokes.
Avatar f tn Exercise is fine as long as you listen to your body and know when it's time to stop. The only concern I would have with soccer is getting hit in the stomach.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I'm really upset and sad at the moment... Writing this in hope of getting support. I am 22 years old, never had children. I'm very athletic and have always been working out. These last couple of weeks I've notices that my vagina is not as it normally use to be. I feel pressure, have a hard time going to the bathroom, when i feel with my fingers everything feels heavier and more "down".
Avatar n tn one week after concussion my 14 week malteese turns in circles all day what can this be.
Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar f tn I would have never thought that angle -- she had a concussion from soccer (going up tp head a ball but went head to head with another player) -- this was a while back tho, 2 years, so more than a year before the illness started. So your injury caused your throwing up and sleep issues? I don't know if these would be related but we are losing our minds trying to figure something out. All dr's will say is since the tests are all negative that leaves her with IBS and stress. Sigh.
Avatar m tn My concussion occurred 37 days ago when I slipped and fell backwards hitting the back of my head on a turf surface. In terms of the concussion recovery, I've been working with a concussion therapist to employ the practices of slowly getting back into activities without provoking symptoms. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much progress and may even have my symptoms come on earlier. I believe that this is related to sleep and neck issues that began about 18-20 days into the recovery.
