concussion

Avatar n tn my boyfriend suffered multiple concussions and post concussion before he suffered a couple within the last month. my main concern is his extreme borderline personality symptoms thathe now has. he is still healing from the injuries so understandably his symptoms are more serious but my main concern is if it may not subside overtime but if it will, how long will it take cause it is alot for me to handle. are there any treatments for him to take.
Avatar f tn He was intoxicated when he suffered the concussion and was admitted to hospital. While at the hospital he was put on an IV and he did not know where he was. He thought he was in Spain despite being in Nottingham. The doctor wanted to keep him in overnight but the idiot best man did he best to get my husband released after a few hours. I was not there so I do not know what the doctor recommended for after care and as the best man was intoxicated as well only god know what was advised.
Avatar m tn Others include changes in the ability to think, sleep changes, personality changes, becoming anxious or angry for no reason, changes in sex drive, dizziness, light headedness or unsteadiness. Consult your neurologist, who will check your strength, balance, coordination, reflexes, and sensation. CT scan, MRI to check any damage to brain. You would be prescribed acetaminophen, ibuprofen, rest, preventing secondary brain injury, avoiding driving etc. Hope this helps. Take care.

Avatar f tn Mine did get better, it is all a matter of u as an individual...and how u handle the surgery and pain....how u heal etc....we r all diff so how u r post op will also be diff from ne one else... Choose ur destiny....decide how u want to be and head for that....it is like when sliding on ice, we r told not to look at the ditch or that is where we will end up....look away toward where u want to go, or be.....
Avatar f tn i (traumatic brain injury) in 2005, i too have had personality changes but thay dont affect my marriage even after twenty years.but i think that what your mother needs to do is try to get some restpite care, or at least some time for just herself, that is if you think that that would help her, your mother that is.
127596 tn?1210922622 Again, whatever you choose to do sexually is only of interest to you and your girlfriend and how much you actually want to keep your girlfriend. Sudden changes in personality after hitting your head are the only thing that is of concern here and that needs to be pursued. Peace.
Avatar n tn I was happy and busy and such but I kept to myself for a while during the change and getting used to the meds. It passed in a few weeks. If you could explain why you think he does not appear to be happy mabey I could give some more insight. I will try to track down some of the articles for you.
Avatar n tn The first fall he had peeing on himself, personality change and headaches, loss of balance. The secound hit was about a month later. With this fall he hit his head and blacked out After the last fall he now is having seizure like shaking and fainting spells. Sometimes the fainting is with out the seizure like shaking. He has had an MRI and EEG both have come back normal. They have said that he has PCS(post soncussion symdrome). But, none of these systoms match that dignose.
Avatar f tn There is an entity of post concussive syndrome where there is inability to think and headaches, changes in sleep patterns and personality etc. This needs to be evaluated clinically, CT/MRI scan brain needs to be done to rule out. Take care.

She started on a medication and things were more or less stable till 5 years ago when her own mother died.
Avatar n tn How are you feeling now? Have you seen a doctor about this? It almost sounds like you may have gotten a concussion besides injuring your shoulder. Because of the headaches, difficultly with memory, trouble concentrating, nausea, feeling "fuzzy," sleep changes, visual changes, I suggest you get checked out by a doctor, preferably a neurologist if you can...otherwise your PCP.
Avatar f tn I suffered concussion over 6 years ago. I still struggle with memory issues, weakness in my arms and leg's ,cognitive issues ,other physical and personality changes. I have been diagnosed with a MTBI ,Ataxia and PCS. I was assigned a 41% total body disability, but have remained working with permanent work restrictions. I will continue to work as long as physically and mentally possible. I do not want to retire on disability. I also have problems with fatigue and driving.
Avatar m tn s been a year since his last concussion and he is making slow progress, but progress. Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home. Mood swings returned significantly and his choices and behaviors reflect significant impairment of executive function ability.

1511671 tn?1316564203 Hello Bubo, I am not sure you have a question or if you are just venting....which we all need to do now and again. Chronic pain can bring on personality changes on it's own...then add the opiates and it's not uncommon to see some changes. I cannot quite tell if you are unhappy with your current situation and wish you were more outgoing and had more energy and stamina.... or if you are excepting and content. I've learned that contentment is the name of the game.
460066 tn?1206449887 MS is not good, in general for our mental health, and yes, we can have definite personality changes, in addition to depression. I encourage you to take every step to try to reverse the mood and also the persistent thinking about the betrayal - hard to do, but the characteristic of survivors is learning the ability to move beyond our hurts and our losses. Again, welcome, this is a good place.
Avatar n tn I am her only living relative. I am concerned that the changes in her personality have been rapid and severe. What actions should I consider and how do you suggest that Imake these changes without building additional resentment? Can I call her physician and talk to her without my mother being told of this conversation? Please send me in the right direction.
538633 tn?1292536361 Hi there. Anything is possible. I believe changes in our personality attributable to a methadone prescription are subtle and ambiguous initially, then build up over time to deafening crecendo that we can no longer deny. I am suprised that so early on, you have noticed such a profound change. Pain itself can also affect us profoundly.
Avatar n tn When she was nine another child accidentiaily bumped her in the head, she passed out, we took her to the ER, she was diagnosed with a concussion. Could this have created an issue and what can we do to help resolve it?
