Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and pain relief

concussion

Avatar n tn Look up a dentist with Trudenta therapy. Often the type of headaches you describe are a combination of muscle pain and span created by poor alignment of the teeth and jaws. It's amazing the relief that people have gotten who suffered for years. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Today, I was volunteering for something and I had to stand up for hours with only a few breaks, and I got a small pain in my head/eyes and I slept for a few hours afterwards. Do I have a slight concussion? Should I go to the doctor?
Avatar n tn But, I never had the bottom of my feet stop hurting, burning feeling Now 32yrs later, I was mugged, beaten and have suffered a serious concussion, my feet are hurting me more and the burning pain has gotten worst i read now that those that get GB have blood transfer, etc...........

I went to my Dr. 4 days later due to the pressure and pain in my head shea dignosed I have Post Concussion Syndrome. I had a ct scan and it came back clear. I now have continious pressure in my eyes and in my nasal area. My Dr. did nto prescribe or recommend anything. I had taken an over the counter medication and it eased the pressure its back with a vengence..
Avatar f tn Hi, Your friend’s headache may be a symptom of Post concussion syndrome. Please ask your friend to take OTC pain killers for symptomatic relief. Symptoms of PCS usually subside on their own and may not require any treatment. A neurologist must be consulted if the symptoms persist. An MRI must be done to find out if there is any serious injury to the brain. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn Migraines usually present with one-sided throbbing headaches associated with nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light and sound. Rest, avoidance of triggers and pain medications prescribed by your doctor may help provide relief. A headache journal will help identify the triggers that you could avoid. You would benefit from a complete neurological examination by your doctor and imaging studies of your brain to rule out organic causes.
Avatar m tn I think I aggravated my neck several times since the initial injury and developed some significant pain/stiffness in my upper back and neck. This stiffness/pain caused my head to hurt wherever it made contact with the pillow. I've seen two athletic therapist, two RMTs, a physiotherapist and a chiropractor. I've had some relief with these therapies but the issue has remained.
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar f tn i looked up the symptoms for trigeminal neuralgia and the pain i have is not excruciating and last a lot longer than a minute
Avatar m tn I was off work for the next week with tiredness, heavy head and focussing problems - I improved a lot, and seemed to be fine by the next weekend - although my head was still very tender and I had pain in the temple if I opened my mouth wide to yawn or chew. I returned to work a week and a half after the injury, and was fine. I went back to the gym at the weekend and felt good.
Avatar f tn There are so many therapies/meds etc., you can try to get relief and I am still trying and is a long story.......Most recover quickly (in 6 months) and only some unlucky ones suffer a long time. After 1 year seems like you cannot set a time line. I doubt MRI will show anything at all related concussion at this stage if CT scans are negative. But if your doctor wants to rule any other condition then go ahead and do it.
Avatar n tn I wake up with occipital headaches/migraines just about avery day between 3-5 am. Somedays it's pain in my left ear and side of face, then other days the base of my head and back of head hurt so bad i can barely stand it. This used to be in cycles that would last a few days, with several weeks of relief in between. Now i can't have more than 1-2 days without some pain. I may go part of the day without the pain, then in the evenings now it hurts in my ears and neck.
Avatar f tn My most recent concussion was October 4th 2016. I have had a migraine for over a month that I cannot get rid of and severe pain in the right side of my head when I inhale. I am scheduled to see a neurologist but it's a month away and I desperately need relief!! strangely enough, I find myself forgetting things I have done on a daily basis.. like the 3 digit passcode to my work door that I've used for 8 years my mind completely draws a blank!!
Avatar f tn 09 am do i have a concussion?
Avatar n tn Hello Dale, I am so very sorry to hear that you have had so many head traumas and are in pain. We can relate to chronic pain. It is disruptive to our lives and brings us many challenges. You are always Welcome in the Pain Mangement Community but I encourage you to also post in our Migraines and Headache Forum. There members may have better information for you based on their personal experiences. Below is the link: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Worrying/Anxiety creates stress and plays tricks on the blood vessels, nerves in the brain, alone this can create and magnify your headache. I would take some headache relief medication and if it doesn't subside, go and see a doctor and be specific as to the time of the accident and your condition. Take caution and take care.
Avatar f tn Yes I seen a neurologist they say its vascular headaches before that they told me it was a post concussion and before that its was a whiplash but mri is good and so was my ct scan but I not improving..I done acupuncture for 2 months and nothing is helping..they want to give me betta blockers but I don't want to take anymore meds..
Avatar f tn Emotional distress can cause some of the symptoms you describe. For instance, does the pain go away if you lie down and relax? These symptoms can also be from long-standing degenerative problems that had nothing to do with your concussion. You would be wise to follow up with your personal doctor who can order an Xray to see what's going on in there.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
868804 tn?1239583770 About three years ago I had a concussion in a soccer game. I was knocked unconscious, but got up and managed to play the second half of the game. (big mistake) After the game I felt very sick and when my mom came to pick me up she took me to the hospital right away. The doctors said i had a concussion and gave my mom **** for letting me play the second half. I had a couple more concussions and ended up taking a full year off of all physical activity, as directed by a neurologist.
Avatar f tn The pain is intermittent but when it comes it stays for days and is a bothering dull pain. If I press on the spot the pain doesn`t change but I do have a spot that is more sensitive when pressed (like a bruise would feel). I don`t have any fever, I do have sinus congestion (but there is a cold going around and i suffer from chronic sinusitis). My concussions were on top of my head and on the left side. I have trouble concentrating but that most likely is a post concussion effet.
Avatar f tn If I try to do anything extremely strenuous or stressful it seems to be much much worse. I have been taking aspirin and using ice packs for very limited relief. My doctor can not see me for 6 weeks. Any advice as to What to try that might would ease the pain?
Avatar f tn Now I have lost the ability to grasp with my hands and have very sharp pain in my right hand and fingers and have been tested for carpal tunnel and pinched nerve, which I do not have. Xrays and Tests also proved negative for depression, lupus, MS, arthritis, and other neuro or rheumatoid diseases.
Avatar f tn He has gone for steroid injections and physical therapy with short term relief. He is working with a pain management doctor and his primary physician. He has had an MRI of the neck. His family doctor has prescribed muscle relaxers and is treating this as tension headaches. I believe he should have a neurological work up to rule out nerv damage. 2 years ago, he had a car accident and had a concussion. What are possible causes of this or possible diagnoses to have his doctor test for?
Avatar f tn Though Asperger’s by it self will not prolong concussion, the diagnosis of concussion in Asperger’s is often overlooked and some other cause or the disease itself attributed to as a cause of symptoms post injury. Hence it is important to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor 4 days later after symptoms were still present and they said I had a concussion. They performed a CT scan and said everything was FINE! I was relieved to hear this. Every so often, I "tweak" the concussion in various ways, but haven't had too many symptoms other than headaches and neck/back aches.
Avatar m tn I hope you are beginning to feel better. Are you seeing a Neurologist now or what type of MD is following you for your concussion (closed head injury)? Normally, they do not recommend that you exercise after such an injury, but rather rest, so I would suggest that you lay off the gym for a while or check with your MD to see if it's OK but also let him/her know that you are still having these headaches and feeling sluggish.
