Avatar f tn Do you think he had a concussion/minor traumatic brain damage? Can this kind of impact be enough to cause concussion? Thanks for reading!
Avatar m tn Is the diagnosis similar between a concussion and intoxication? If so, in what ways? i.e., with the pupils, when doctor shines light in eyes, motor skills, etc. In what ways are they different? What if you have/are both at the same time? Can they be possibly confused or synonymous?
Avatar f tn Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state. I went to a concussion specialist who performed an impact test on me and diagnosed me with a concussion. A couple weeks later I got cleared but soon after I started experiencing severe sensitivity to light and my vision seemed to worsen. I had been given glasses to use while driving for distance and now I have to wear them all the time or I can’t see.
Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar f tn The impact of the ball caused the concussion, and the shape of his pupil is now oval. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist who did a thorough exam. He said there is no lasting damage other than the shape of the pupil, but he needed glasses. When he "recovered" from the concussion three weeks later, he tried to go back to baseball but could no longer judge the speed and distance of the ball. He had to quit. He has been moody and pesting ever since the concussion.
Avatar f tn re supposed to take it easy after a concussion and orgasm raises your BP and all. Most of my symptoms of the concussion have gone away, aside from double vision. Thoughts?
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After head injury or impact such kind of symptoms like loss of smell or taste and other symptoms may be common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.
Avatar f tn I personally feel my mental capacity and working memory in terms of active problem solving and such degrade to a point of needing to change and drop out of classes I could once handle. All of those symptoms have carried on with what seemed to be normal and clean MRI and Cat scan imaging. The only problems diagnosed from those scans where said to be prenatal.
Avatar f tn There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion". There are gradations of concussion, and after the fact there is no way to compare and contrast the etiology. Just because a person has a "concussion" it does not mean they will develop seizures.
Avatar f tn CTE can be caused by concussions and subconcussive impacts to the brain. What exactly is a subconcussive impact? After getting an elbow to the jaw by my nephew (while 20weks pregnant) I became very anxious about concussions. Either because of hormones or a concussion... my anxiety went into overdrive. To help convince myself it wasn't a big deal, I kept hitting my jaw (like 5 knocks) in that same place with my knuckles throughout the day. Ridiculous I know.
1914334 tn?1322285939 Well I was in a accident about a month ago where I flipped my truck going quite fast and I was in a coma for a few days and was in the hospital for 2 weeks and don't even remember being there. My question is I have bad mood swings and always feel depressed now and like its as if they put someone elses brain in my head and everything seems different to me now as if im seeing it through someone elses eyes. I can't take this anymore should I go and tell the doctors I go see now this.
Avatar m tn But I have strange tension like headache. i think its retarded for an impact to travel from my butt to my brain and cause a concussion let alone the fact that i just really jumped onto my couch. Should I not go back to exercising tomorrow? Tomorrow morning what should i do to see if I'm ok or not? This is probably nothing but I am still skeptical.
1072295 tn?1255449536 I had a mild traumatic brain injury and has most of the symptoms you have plus more. Mine happened more than a year ago. I have been to many specialists in this area and did not get much help. Some said it is a post concussion syndrome, meniere's syndrome etc., and each one gave a different syndrome. all I can say is I have post concussion syndrome/tbi for sure and probably you have that too.
Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
4066053 tn?1353717145 However yes, the base of the skull is most sensitive and a hit in this area can cause more trauma than in other areas. Also a direct impact on the top of the head can be really injurious. Healing from concussion is a very unpredictable. A small injury may take time to heal where as a bigger injury may heal faster. Take care!
Avatar n tn Hi, probably these are concussion symptoms. “The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid, one of the functions of which is to protect it from light trauma, but more severe impacts or the forces associated with rapid acceleration and deceleration may not be absorbed by this cushion.
Avatar n tn Sounds like a concussion and she should be checked. Anytime a person has dizziness, severe headache, visual disturbances or vomiting after a head impact, they need to be seen. I hope it all turns out to be minor but even with that, she may feel crummy for a couple more days.
Avatar f tn Could a concussion, an empty stomach, anxiety and fear mixed with meds administered by the ER of 1mg Xanax, 60mg Toradol (intramuscular) and Vicodin cause me to completely blackout yet appear to be satisfactory for release? The reason I ask is because I was discharged on 9/4/07 at 2148 hours and am on surveilance cameras showing I arrived at a local gas station at 2154 hours. I have absolutely no recollection of going to the gas to station or driving home.
16948797 tn?1452582673 Prior to this day, I was sparring with a friend (though my fault for a late reaction) and was hit directly onto both the Temporal & the Parietal Lobe area. Though I didn't notice it right away, a sizable bump appeared ranging to a size of an inch in circumference and roughly a centimeter outward. Is it normal for the bump to become numb by an impact to the nerves of the head?
Avatar f tn I was holding my puppy in the backyard then he jumped off and landed on his back and may have hit his head, he whimpered a little bit on impact but after that he was running okay and was a little bit less active than before the fall.
Avatar m tn m, of course, panicky because of the possibility of a mild concussion and its possible side effects, along with th ehelp of alcohol and poor sleep the first days of the injury -while I should be taking care to rest and all. I feel just a weight sensation and mild pain that comes and goes around the vicinity of the impact, maybe a bit of pain on the opposite side sometimes, but I don't even need acetaminophen. The impact was on the upper-back let side of the head. Could I have a problem?
Avatar m tn be/R8GZ7OZKCx8 Went to the ER and the doc said she thought it could make my post concussion syndrome temporarily worse (and I definitely have been experiencing some bad symptoms) but I guess she did not seem too concerned and did not think I needed and further testing from scans or anything like that
Avatar m tn A few months ago, while playing basketball, I hit heads with one player of the opposite team when he reached in for a steal while I was driving to the hoop. The hit was placed above the right ear. The collision was not really strong and aside from the pain of the hit I didn't have any confusion or any other symptom and I went playing and finished the match. ( the rest of the people present didn't see at as very serious either).
Avatar n tn I had another Brain Mapping for a month ago by the same doctor and results show a significant impact of my more recent concussion vs. the previous one. I was told that none of the therapies that were used before, nor any other therapies, would improve my condition at this point.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
