concerta

Avatar f tn Why is my 'shrink' trying to treat my Adult ADD with Bubropion HCL SR (100mg tab 2X a day)? Is this the right med for me? Good grief...it didn't even cut out my smoking. Both of my adult children are on Adderall and are doing fine. My doc keeps telling me that Concerta & Adderall are 'too addictive' ... what the heck ... I am not looking to get high or anything ... I just want to be able to have a med to make my ADD manageable.
Avatar m tn Hey Chris, I just wanted to add that while some of the symptoms you described could be coming from the Concerta (it never hurts to google concerta and check out the symptoms), several are also ADHD symptoms - particularly the, ",mood swings, thoughts of suicide, couldnt fall asleep, depression, and anger." So I would make very sure that you are aware of what ADHD can do to you. It is your disease, and the best way to conquer it is with information about it.
Avatar n tn My 12 year old son is on Concerta 54 mg. He has been on Concerta in gradual doses since kindergarten. Now when the medication is wearing off, he becomes angry and agressive. I have never seen this side of him before. He used to become depressed so we restructured our evening activities to work around the depression. I am at a loss and am very concerned. Thank you in advance for any input on this question.
Avatar f tn Try going to motherisk.org my doctor gave me that website and you should be able to search for your medication and see the effects.
Avatar f tn Hello, I lost 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I'm taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom.
5757880 tn?1395578022 t been very helpful this year with information on how he is doing so I can only go by the vague messages received... the first 6 months, they say he was great! Though I have documents to prove otherwise - lately though, the teacher keeps saying he lacks focus, needs to pay attention and all that jazz. (I say it so flippantly because this teacher has been a pain to work with...
Avatar f tn My son has been taking concerta for four years and has went up slightly with his weight gain over the years. He is 12 years old and is on 54 mg, and today he answered the door and then fell to the floor, started banging his head against the floor, and then got up walked over to the sofa and started watching tv. He had no recollection that he had even done that, and was completely conscious. Could this be due to the medicine?
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
Avatar m tn He was first prescribed concerta. He did very well for about two weeks and then started to act very violent aggressive and angry. The doctor doubled the dose and the anger and aggression etc. became worse. That was when the doctor diagnosed Bipolar and took him off stimulant and put him on Resperidone / mood stabilizer. He has been on resperidone for 11/2 week showing only ADHD and ODD symptoms. He is driving us crazy but not showing any signs of anger or aggression.
Avatar m tn The Concerta will show up for one to three days (in a urine test) depending on how fast you metabolize. However from what I have read, it will show up in the initial screening as a general amphetamine. After a positive initial screening, the sample will be further tested using a different methodology that will specify the type of amphetamine. Of course, if you have taken your generic version of adderall after the concerta for a couple of days. That should be what shows up.
Avatar n tn My partner's son takes concerta for ADHD. His father (my partner) is obviously divorced from his mother and he lives with his mother. His behaviour can be really bad. Today it has come to a head when his mother took him swimming. He excremented on the male changing room floor and smeared the word "poo" on the wall. Obviously both parents are distraught.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed Concerta 27.5 mgCR which is like adderall for ADHD. My doctor also prescribed Phenteramine 37.5 mg for weight loss. I take both together in the morning. I do go to him every month and have a check up so he can check my blood pressure...it is always low anyways. But he does keep a close eye on me. Also, if I have something stressfull happen in my life, I drop the phenterimine for a couple of days to prevent an anxidy attack.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Concerta 18mg by a psychiatrist. I am currently studying for the bar exam and have been taking one pill everyday (since May 17th). The bar exam is on July 24th-26th, 2017. I have never taken Concerta everyday for this long before, and I know that daily use is not encouraged. However, I feel that taking it daily would allow me to prepare for the exam to the best of my ability.
Avatar f tn Hi folks, I took Concerta for 2 weeks and gave it up because of GI issues and a lot of facial twitching in addition to still having a lot of fatigue. I stopped taking it almost a week ago but I still have a remaining eye twitch that is driving me nuts. Now I'm thinking the current twitch is likely unrelated to Concerta and may be MS related. If so, it is a new symptom for me and like most MS symptoms, I need relief. Has anyone had any success getting rid of the twitches?
Avatar m tn Since that time he has been on different stimulant medications. For the last 2 yrs he has taken Concerta with the most success. In the last year we have really began to worry that there was something else going on. A therapist told us she thought he may have Aspergers Syndrome and told us we should get a psycholgical evaluation. His psychiatrist diagnosed him with Aspergers, but we still wanted an eval.
5757880 tn?1395578022 After spending $186.00 for the generic form of concerta I'm about ready to cry... no, I have already cried. My insurance changed plans to a high deductible and now I must meet a $2500.00 in regards to my son's medication. I have already checked with medicad/medicare, the martketplace and there is nothing my insurance company nor employeer can do. Can anyone give me any information in how I can lower my cost or perhaps is there a cheaper alternative? Thank You!
Avatar n tn those increase in your emotions is normal for paxil. is the same doctor prescribing both meds? are you taking the paxil for depression? the vyvance could definitely also cause an increase in your irritation, anger and rage. i would definitely talk with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
Avatar n tn Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.
1858622 tn?1319813203 My 13 year old daughter was taking Concerta last week and she was having stomach pains. We stopped it and she is taking a nutritional derivative for ADD kids called Focus. How long did your kids go to therapy while taking medication?
Avatar n tn my son has be on concerta for about 8 months. Yes he focus better but his grades are know different for 2 terms now. He also has been diagnosis, actually the first diagnosis was a learning disability. He also get awards showing compassion and caring etc. on and off meds. His teachers have loved him in their class from jk. He plays travel sports and gets award again on and off meds. O and yes he is very mean on and off meds with his sisters but calms down better on the meds.
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on Concerta for three years. I swear by it, I think it's great, but I have had him on 18mg. I tried him on 27mg but he was lethargic. Your son probably can't sleep because the dosage is extremly high. ADHD medications sre stimulants. If you drink energy drinks in the day time it helps get you thru the day, but if you drink them at bed time you'll toss and turn. Very similar type situation. Have you tried him on a low dose?
Avatar f tn The only one who should be prescribing your son medication for adhd is a psychiatrist. If a psychiatrist is prescribing your son medication, it sounds as if you need to get a second opinion. It also sounds as if your son is displaying signs schizophrenia. I am glad that you're getting your son into talk therapy. No child should be taking psychotropic medication without being seen regularly by a mental health therapist.
1768088 tn?1409087815 Started treating right before she turned 5. She has been on Concerta since she was 5. Started at 18 mg and ever so often had to increase. She's been on 54 mg a day for at least the past 3 years or so. Well lately we noticed It's not working as well as it once was. She also takes Focalin 10 mg in the afternoon when needed. The concerta is wearing off in 5-6 hrs and when she takes the focalin in the pm u can't even tell she's taken anything.
