Common Questions and Answers about Concerta high

concerta

Avatar n tn t get high off it anymore, but desperately need to clean the house - my friend gave me an 18mg concerta. I've had them before and they let me get all the house work done. My question, is it okay to take with such a large amount of xanax? (This is out of harm reduction) Drugs.com says no interaction, but I just want to make sure. People have told me the xanax will kill the stimulant high, some others have said the stimulant will put you in withdrawal...
Avatar f tn Concerta does not cause the enlarged heart, but definitely increases the heart rate and causes other chest pains, so cardiovascular monitoring is a MUST with all the ADHD-drug taking children. My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
Avatar f tn If he is getting mad at his sister under Cocerta and was not before Concerta, maybe the dosage is too high. Talk to his doctor about decreasing it or changing to another medicine such as Metadate CD.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult a few years ago, and started taking concerta to help me focus in college. I stopped taking it for a while, and about a month ago, went back on the concerta. I take 36mg of extended release in the mornings when I have class or homework to do, and it does help me focus. However, since going back on it, I've noticed that I sometimes can't grasp words. Like I know what I'm talking about/trying to say, but I can't place a word with it.
Avatar f tn Hi - 36mg of Concerta seems high for a 5 year old. Most docotors also do not start out with Concerta as the medicine for a 5 year old. If you are still giving her the medicine, please talk to your doctor about the fact that this medicine maybe is not working. Maybe it is too high of a dosage or the wrong medicine. If she is behaving at home, maybe you can consider a medicine that is not as lasting as Concerta. At this age, you probably should only medicate her for school.
Avatar n tn My son takes Concerta as well as his sister They are both on a dose of risperdal as well. Trevor is ADHD Combined type He's 5 y/o and takes 27 mgs of Concerta Jessey his sister is 7 and takes a lower dose she is just ADD. I was having the same issues as you with these two it seemed when 7 p.m. came every night like clock work my kids turned in to monsters like the warewolf does when the sun goes down in the movies .

Avatar f tn My son is 8. At age 2 he was diagnosed with Autism. He is very high functioning but of course with this he has OCD type behaviors, anxiety etc. At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD.
Avatar f tn I take Abilfy, Topomax, Wellbutrin and Concerta. I go to the gym 3x week and try to watch what I eat. I am always tired!!!! Any suggesstions?
Avatar n tn Heart rate of 160 beats is getting high enough to affect breathing and cause shortness of breath. Dangerous heart rate would be 200 as the heart does not pump efficiently. Atenolol would be a beta blocker that would bring down the heart beat and make a person feel better if the heart rate is causing symptoms and stomach problem symptoms. Young people tend to have fast heart rates and have heart symptoms that are not dangerous.
Avatar m tn Is there anyway to reduce this while taking adderall, and what could it be caused by? I was then switched to 18mg Concerta ER and I still get the same side-effects but they are about 85% less severe and last alot shorter 1-2 days max, but doesnt even work for me. Maybe amphetamines are too "strong" for me? I diagnosed with ADD and was prescribed Adderall 20mg XR when I was about 22 years old, and I didn't have a problem at all except slightly dry mouth.
5757880 tn?1395578022 After spending $186.00 for the generic form of concerta I'm about ready to cry... no, I have already cried. My insurance changed plans to a high deductible and now I must meet a $2500.00 in regards to my son's medication. I have already checked with medicad/medicare, the martketplace and there is nothing my insurance company nor employeer can do. Can anyone give me any information in how I can lower my cost or perhaps is there a cheaper alternative? Thank You!
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
5757880 tn?1395578022 I kind of wonder if his Concerta dose is high enough? The doc will typically start you out low and wait to see how things are going. Also wonder when you remarked about other disorders if you have ever checked out Sensory Processing disorder. Your remarks about the tactile things rang a bell for me. You might want to check it out here - http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.
Avatar f tn Hello, I lost 15 pounds over the last 3 months. I'm taking Concerta (36 mg- twice per day), Tecfidera (240 mg twice per day) and Brintellix (10 mg). I have no appetite and when I eat everything tastes awful. Concerta and Brintellux are more effective for me versus Modnafinil and Cymbalta. However, I can't afford to lose anymore weight. Additionally, I'm only sleeping about 3 hours per night due to trips to the restroom.
Avatar n tn Your son is taking quite a high dose of Concerta. There is no reason to expect that he will not continue to have suppressed appetite. It's not so much an issue of how long he has been on medication, but rather an issue of finding the best medication for him (i.e., the medication that proves to be clinically effective without untoward side effects). Stimulant medications (e.g., Concerta, Ritalin, Adderall, Metadate, etc.) all have the potential to suppress appetite.
Avatar f tn i'm 17 and i take concerta (ritalin) which the medication is released from the capsule in different amounts during the day. when i wake up at 6:45 to go to school sometimes i don't eat but i always take my pill, which makes me feel sick or not hungry or have a headache. should i take a lower dose if it makes me feel bad?
11352669 tn?1417486501 Typically, if you have a good, strong high protein breakfast, the effects positive effects of Concerta will last longer then without that kind of breakfast - which means you could try a lower dose. Any recent head injuries. Do you play football or soccer? If you have been using it for more then several months, then something else is probably going on. Its always worth mentioning this to your doc.
Avatar n tn My 9 yr. old little girl has been on 18Mg of Concerta, with some success. The Dr. prescribed 5 mg. of aderall along with the Concerta, that has also had proven results for us. The Dr. now says to increase the Aderall to 10mg. so we did that today. She is now on 18mg of Concerta and 10mg of Aderall. What can we expect from this increase and is this combination to high of a doseafge for a 70 puond 9 yr. old.
Avatar f tn Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didnĀ“t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.
Avatar f tn My son has tried Ritalin, Dexodrine and Concerta. All have made him tic, but the concerta tics seem to last longer. He has been off for two weeks and although the neck jutting out has stopped, the clearing of the throat has not. I have removed him off all medication and am convinced the pros of the medicine DOES NOT out weigh the cons. Be careful parents! Make sure you do your research before placing your children on medication.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but after seeing your post I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. What happened in your case? I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do.
Avatar f tn My major problems all this time are fatigue and weakness in my legs. My previous neurologist had suggested and prescribed Concerta for some temporary help for those symptoms. I am currently taking a 54mg tablet each morning and I cannot tell that it really helps since I do have "good" and "bad" periods. Any information will be greatly appreciated. ...
Avatar m tn My 6 year old DD was started on concerta about a month and a half ago. This is the first medication they suggested to us. She seems to be doing really well in school but the side effects at home are becoming hard for us to handle. SHe has become very nonaffectionate, emotional, withdrawn, and seems to be uninterested in life. She also will not eat at all. She is eating maybe one meal a day. I am wondering if we switch medications, will the side effects be the same/as bad?
Avatar m tn His pediatrcian has put him on 56 mg of Concerta with an addicional 19 mg while at school and 10 mg after school so we can get through homework. We recently started seeing a psychatrist and he said the school meds are way too high and should only take at most 56mg for school. He seemed ok on the higher dose. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I checked his eyes this morning before he took his Concerta pill and his eyes were still dialated, but not as badly as after he takes the Concerta. Should I take him to an eye doctor or should I discuss this with his psychiatist (who prescribes his Concerta) first?
Avatar f tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do because the Concerta is helping my ADD, but I also believe it at least played a part in my shingles outbreak.
