They cannot get any other PEP prophylaxis treatments besides the Combivir and was really worried about the side effects of this medication, as I am already feeling nauseated. I know this is a very potent drug and nothing to play around with, but very worried about contracting something. The girls here are tested before they arrive and are cleared through our physicians here on the island. I know the chances are lower but do not want to take the chance.

I slept with a hiv positive girl on friday, without a condom, i had slept wth her before with a condom but this time i did not use one we were drunk, we tested today, i was negative and she was positive, (the test was confirmed) I Have been put on PEP combivir and Stocrin on the 70th hour after the sexual encounter, it hapened on friday night at 10pm ive been put on PEP on monday evening at 7pm the doctor says the effect is 20% at 70hrs but 90% at 8 hrs, unfortunately this is has been my luc
But he said he could give me PEP Combivir BID for 28 days. I filled the prescription and began 6 days ago, 22 hours after the sex incident.
I have since had the following side effects / sensations:
1. Pretty bad knee pain. Chronically.
2. Almost zero appetite for 3-4 days. It has come back a little the last two days.
3. Waking up with nausea pre-morning Combivir dose. Nausea bad enough to actually wake me, but not bad enough to make me vomit. Need to lay down though.
4. Fatigue.

I had many exposures, unprotected vaginal sex, to someone who had hiv, i did not know at the time. I had a test 12-13 weeks after exposure and was negative, but I took combivir for 3 weeks 4 weeks after the exposure. Do you think the timing I took the medication had an affect on my antibody test, since I took it at a time that I could have been seroconverting.
Next day,6 th october, I went to hospital, met a Aids specialist, told me yes I had a risk and I received combivir + viramune 4 days then he told me to only take combivir for the last remaining 24 days of treatment.
This day I was checked and no HIV/siphilis/hepatits detected on the 6th of october.
Everything else good, ALAT, SGPT etc.. Treatment started 16 hours later after risk. I do take a lot of vitamin B, ginseng and selenium especially before winter.
He said that waiting three days wouldnt reduce the efficeiency of the PEP and i think he was afraid that since I am having a reaction i shoudl wait to introduce a new drug. I have taken the drugs in Combivir before for PEP (I have rather sever OCD and doctors give me these drugs since they figure I cant deal with out them). I had no problem witht he drugs in Combivir. Do you think it is advisable to wait three days and begin or start new regimen ASAP?
The following morning which was Saturday I went to the clinic and I was given emergency PEP(Combivir + Keletra) which i took at the 13th hour that would last me till Monday since the clinic pharmacy does not open during weekends. On Monday I went to collect the full medication BT surprisingly I was only given Combivir and when I enquired they said it's okay I don't have to worry that much.
00pmafter getting up, they did an elisaHiv 1 and 2 test and i was negative, because of exposure the doc prescribed combivir PEP, which i took 16 hrs after the exposure, by the way in the same after noon i had two beers 3 hrs before takin PEP cause of the stress. Im currently on the PEP (Combivir) 10am and 10pm now,.I went back to see the doctor at another hospital 3 days later,Took the girl for a test and she is hiv positive, and I think she knew it.
Welcome to this Forum. These are questions we have answered many time on the site. There is no risk for HIV at all from and the activities you describe. condom protected sex is no risk for HIV. The same is true for the sort of rubbing you describe (whether or not a condom was used- you still had your condom on) or from masturbation. It is typical for partners to get each others' genital secretions on one another yet no one has EVER gotten HIV from this, no ever.
I took only one pill of Combivir like nPEP, and after i realized that i was not in a risky situation i stop consuming Combivir. Couple of days i still have some side effects from that one pill. so my question is:
What kind of problem i can have after this one pill Combivir?

İ made a mistake , 50 days ago. After the sexual intercourse , i used pep medicine ( combivir) ( 45 hours later). İ dont know girl hiv+ or not.
my tests are 15. day hiv duo ultra negative , 25. day hiv duo negative , 33. day combo negative , 41. day combo negative , 48. day combo negative.
İ afraid , because , i have some semptoms and pep. Some sources said 6 months later correctly for the test using pep. Some sources 3 months and some doctors said me close this subject .
I began Post Exposure Profylaxis therapy six days ago approximately seven hours after a possible exposure. I recieved a prescription for one weeks worth of combivir from the emergency room doctor with instructions to follow up with my regular physician. That prescription has almost been used up. I have four pills left but am yet to take my second dose for today.
