combivir

Avatar m tn You also said it was protected. PEP is not something you just take on a wim, It has major side effects sometimes.
Avatar n tn Hello I ran into an incident last night and ended up having unprotected sexual intercourse with a stipper. I started the first dose of Combivir last night and was wondering if the side effects get too bad and I cannot take it for the full 28 days, what I should do. They cannot get any other PEP prophylaxis treatments besides the Combivir and was really worried about the side effects of this medication, as I am already feeling nauseated.
Avatar m tn Thank you kenzorio. The doctor said there are not enough data available to properly answer the question and recommanded to keep as well. I'm just concerned about side effects of combivir. Another question tho, once side effects are experienced do they get worst or they stabilize? About lactic acidosis does it keeps build up in the system the more you take combivir or does it stabilize?
Avatar m tn I took only one pill of Combivir like nPEP, and after i realized that i was not in a risky situation i stop consuming Combivir. Couple of days i still have some side effects from that one pill. so my question is: What kind of problem i can have after this one pill Combivir?
Avatar n tn My primary care physician indicated to me that he did not have much knowledge re Combivir side effects. He said in reading about Combivir that it can affect lactic acid levels in the muscles and that this may contribute to muscle soreness. I am waiting to also pose this question to the specialist he referred me to. After about 4 days the soreness went away. Now, I admit I am lucky and don't have much experience with the flu and "flu like symptoms".
Avatar n tn Dr, I couldnt find an exact case like this, not sure if due to my wording. I tried receptive protected anal sex with a transexual escort but stop immediately from the pain in the anus, but afterwards i had receptive unprotected penile-anal rubbing for a couple of minutes and for a couple of seconds there was pressure applied but stop again from pain and stopped. After the exposure, i used a paper toilet in my anus and there were some light blood.
Avatar m tn t get enough water constant dry mouth sore throat and muscle pains headaches so my question is I am 14 days in and if I quit now will these side effects go away and how long till they do I just want to die I feel so bad. If I quit today what will happen in terms of if I did have an exposure.
Avatar m tn I have been doing some research on my side effects, I had blur vision in 4 days. I hope it does help someone like me. http://www.nature.com/eye/journal/v16/n1/full/6700038a.html that's site. And as for the dark greasy stool here it is the site http://hab.hrsa.gov/deliverhivaidscare/clinicalguide11/cg-501_diarrhea.htmlI hope it does help in any case since I had tried to find something but couldn't. I hope you all the best who is reading this because you need it.
Avatar m tn Also, I am worried that with my anxiety I will not be able to differentiate my usual anxiety symptoms and the potentially dangerous side effects of Combivir. Will I be able to tell the difference? Finally, what are my risk factors for this type of exposure? Thanks!
Avatar m tn The most common side effects of pep are-diarrhea,vomitting and headaches.
Avatar m tn m almost done with Day 2 of Truvada and AZT and am just tired, no other side effects yet. I begin Combivir + Viread on Monday, and am a bit worried the side effects will become harder to deal with considering I'm taking AZT now once twice a day and Monday I switch to 3 times twice a day. I have a panic and anxiety disorder. I have a therapist and set up a meeting with her. In addition I get regularly tested for STI's, I don't have Hep C, I have my vaccines, blah blah.
Avatar f tn My advice would be to get a new doctor who has expertise in HIV. You had no risk and you didn't need PEP. Please read about the side effects of PEP. You're taking a drug to prevent a disease that you didn't have a risk of contracting.
Avatar m tn So i have a lot of questions regarding the oportunity of PeP in both cases. I am a bit worried about the short term side effects and long term side effects. Should i continue PeP with both drugs? Will they damage my liver etc . Looot of questions :) Thank you in advance and excuse my poor english. P.S. I think this time i learned my lesson. Use better condoms and a loooot more lubricant.

Avatar m tn I do not know all of the side effects of PEP. As I mentioned before, you should discuss these with your doctor. Please do not focus on your symptoms. No one can diagnose you or even make a guess based on your symptoms. Only a test can diagnose HIV.
Avatar n tn You have no risk of HIV transmission, but you do have a risk of drug side effects and toxicities from Combivir. Finally, I agree with the infectious diseases team ("nothing to worry about"). I also agree with their recommendation that you should not take PEP. You are not taking a "precaution;" you are taking a risk! We really do know what we are talking about, and whoever prescribed the PEP for you should not have done so. Dr.
Avatar n tn At first, I thought it was likely I was experiencing side effects of the PEPs(kaletra/combivir) but ive been off the PEPs for 3 weeks now. My Question is, what is the likelyhood of me not being infected with the virus? In all honestly the chances of all this happening by some coincedence right after a extremly questionable sexual encounter is too far fetch for me to believe and I have essentially diagnosed myself with the virus even though my 90 day test is October 16th.
Avatar m tn I would like to know the long term toxic side effects of Lamivudine 150mg and zidovudine 300mg tablet which is taken as a PEP for 28 days.
Avatar f tn For you the risk of side effects from PEP is far greater than the risk of HIV. If you were my patient I would tell you that you do not even have a medical reason for testing, much less for PEP. I hope my comments are helpful to you, there is no reason for worry.
Avatar m tn Did you bother to read the side effects.
Avatar m tn   Also there was some inconsistency in terms of which medicines I was taking. Day 1-4 combivir with kaletra, day 5-6 only combivir and day 7-10 combivir with tenofovir. So far I've been taking pep for 10 days so far and the side effects are really bad especially nausea. It's been really rough time and I feel like I can't handle the medicine anymore..feel really sick from it.
Avatar m tn Depends on the doctor exactly what regimen is prescribed. They have a tendency to have some significant side effects, however, if you want the nPEP to work, you have to stick it out.
Avatar m tn Your question is a good one as there are many medication interactions which can make drugs work less well or increase the risk of side effects. Fortunately, these are not common for most of the drugs used for PEP. there are no interactions I am aware of between Prozac and the medications you mention. Parenthetically, one way to minimize the likelihood that uncommon medication interactions is to make sure that you are using the same pharmacy to get your prescriptions filled.
