s a greater risk of the HIV being resistant to drug treatments if you took the PEP irregularly (due to the high variability in blood concentration, which is what creates resistance - if the half-life of combivir is 12 hours, then missing 50 hours rseults in the blood concentration dropping 93%!).

Hello I ran into an incident last night and ended up having unprotected sexual intercourse with a stipper. I started the first dose of Combivir last night and was wondering if the side effects get too bad and I cannot take it for the full 28 days, what I should do. They cannot get any other PEP prophylaxis treatments besides the Combivir and was really worried about the side effects of this medication, as I am already feeling nauseated.
Hello people have told me no risks with my random oral with a stranger who appeared ill well three m ds has been on me to continue combivir my life has stopped horrible abonimal issues so fatigue to do anything and can't get enough water constant dry mouth sore throat and muscle pains headaches so my question is I am 14 days in and if I quit now will these side effects go away and how long till they do I just want to die I feel so bad.
I took only one pill of Combivir like nPEP, and after i realized that i was not in a risky situation i stop consuming Combivir. Couple of days i still have some side effects from that one pill. so my question is:

Initial counts were 423 viral load (not thousands - just 423) but T cell was 398. Immediately went undetectable. Put on Fortavase, Combivir, Norvir. Soon switched to just Fortavase 8 bid, combivir 1 bid. over time decreased to just 1 fortavase bid and 1 combivir bid. Been up in 700 - 900 T cell the whole time. No one can explain to me why numbers were odd to begin with. Also now that fortavase is off market my doc wants to switch me to Invirase, Combivir and Norvir.
I began Post Exposure Profylaxis therapy six days ago approximately seven hours after a possible exposure. I recieved a prescription for one weeks worth of combivir from the emergency room doctor with instructions to follow up with my regular physician. That prescription has almost been used up. I have four pills left but am yet to take my second dose for today.
But he said he could give me PEP Combivir BID for 28 days. I filled the prescription and began 6 days ago, 22 hours after the sex incident.
I have since had the following side effects / sensations:
1. Pretty bad knee pain. Chronically.
2. Almost zero appetite for 3-4 days. It has come back a little the last two days.
3. Waking up with nausea pre-morning Combivir dose. Nausea bad enough to actually wake me, but not bad enough to make me vomit. Need to lay down though.
4. Fatigue.

What are the chances of infection (%)? I went on to Combivir within 2 hours of the next month - but this is working on my mind. I have a wife and 3 kids and am anxious about this.
Is Combivir affective in helping?
3 days later my doctor switched me from Sustiva/Combivir to Kaletra/Combivir. A few days after that I began to develop a mild sore throat and a quarter size rash on my penis. On July 24th I got a Stat-Pak HIV test at a clinic which came back negative. By July 30th, 2008 (maybe a few days earlier) I developed a small quarter size rash on my right foot but this rash was nothing at all like the rash on my penis a few weeks earlier.
I had many exposures, unprotected vaginal sex, to someone who had hiv, i did not know at the time. I had a test 12-13 weeks after exposure and was negative, but I took combivir for 3 weeks 4 weeks after the exposure. Do you think the timing I took the medication had an affect on my antibody test, since I took it at a time that I could have been seroconverting.
BTW, I saw the doctor last night and he thought there was enough of a risk to put me on combivir for 28 days. Should I continue it? Could it put me at greater risk for hiv?
Is combivir an appropriate HIV nPEP regimen for one time unprotected encounter with CSW of unknown status in Kenya? I'm a 24 yr male from UK. Insertive vaginal and oral. Asked about Kaletra and doc said it's low risk doesn't recommend, but I am still very worried. Started within 12 hours, but still within 72 if kaletra should be added. I feel terrible of course but appreciate any advice.
Post the intercourse I removed the condom and washed my penis with soap and water immediately. I was so terrified post that episode that I took COMBIVIR twice a day for 19 days.I had a severe episode of flu yesterday (Runny nose,burning urination,burning of the eyes,sore throat, fever of 101'Celcius, fatigue, muscle ache,yellow vision and dry cough)(its monsoon season and my roommate had the same flu since 3 days) but no rash, no swollen glands and no diarrhoea.
t contract HIV during the potential time that I could have and I take combivir anyway, would I be able to get HIV from the combivir itself? As in, could the combivir give me HIV? It sounds like a stupid question I know but it keeps bothering me.
2) I've been taking combivir for just under 1 week now and I have absolutely no side effects.
