Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
Avatar f tn I have not been taking it because it is so expensive. I took it the last couple of days because I was having a hard time with fatigue. I took it and man I felt great! Now I got thrush again! Every time I use that stuff I get thrush even tho I rinse my mouth with saltwater! I also noticed it makes me cough! Anyone else have these problems?
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
Avatar n tn You should discus the use of combivent with your doctor. It may not be needed on a scheduled basis anymore depending on the severity of your disease. Feel better.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with Exercise Induced Asthma. It presents as shortness of breath shortly after starting vigorous exercise (< 1 min), after climbing ~3 flights of stairs, etc. My related medications eventually included Combivent Inhaler, Singular, Asmanex and Foradil. ~6 months ago I stopped the medications (except for occasional Combivent) becuase I felt the others provided no help. What baseline exercise process can I use to determine whether any of these medications help?
212161 tn?1599427282 Hello... I have asthma and take Flovent 2xday and used to take Combivent as needed. My Dr switched me from Combivent to Atrovent. With Atrovent, I find that it doesn't cause my heart to race as much as it did when using the Combivent.
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar f tn Yes! Spiriva is a long acting 24 hour broncho-dialator. So this means it will dialate your airway, make it bigger so air can pass thru it easier. Adviar: is a cortico-steriod. This means it is a anti-inflammatory type med that will take the inflammed part and calm it down. These are two very different medications. one holds it open and the other calms down the inflammed parts.
Avatar f tn It is likely, that your son will continue to have wheezing episodes with infections and possibly with exposure to certain allergens. If your son is allergic, you should know that cats are a major factor for allergic/asthmatic children. Hope this response helps.
1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth.
Avatar n tn ve had this floating spacer for about 8 years, with no problems and no cost (insurance paid). I was appalled at how something like this easy answer was not offered to me in the first place, but i guess it's all about money. I think the only reason he offered it at all is because of all the insurance claims he gets from our whole family.
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
Avatar m tn These include Albuterol, Flovent, Combivent, Spiriva, lasix, Diamox , Clariten and Nasonex. I follow a strict diet, no fatty , greasy, fried ,alcoholic or dairy. I elevate my head in bed and lay on my left side. I had test done which include upper and lower GI series, endoscope and a fluroscope. I do everything my Doctor tells me but I am still suffering . My Doctor also suggested that I lose weight.
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar n tn By giving one med before the other the optimal medicinal performance is obtained with a minimum of medication. There is a difference of opinion regarding this issue. My brain is foggy, but that is how it was explained to me a long time ago by a very knowledgable R.N. Ocassionally there are side effects, and mixing the drugs does not hold well for figuring out the problem.
Avatar m tn My infectious disease specialist wants to go with at least 8 weeks of antibiotics, iv, along with the antibiotic spacer. Then wait about a month without antibiotics before re-implanting with the metal to see if any signs of infections show up before the final metal implant. One other question, has any research been done to find out exactly how long the antibiotic spacers contiune to release antibiotics locally?
Avatar f tn Thank you both so much for your response. I don't think I can use a spacer with the spiriva inhaler but I will try buying new toothbrushes. I always forget about that!!
1344892 tn?1276541735 However, Salbutamol, also known as Albuterol which is a Class of drugs known as Anticholinergics is known to cause tachycardia and can also cause an increase in blood pressure. Some are able to tolerate this medication with no unwanted side effects...while others suffer from common side effects. I was using Combivent a combination of Albuterol/Atrovent which exacerbated my Afib. My Dr said that the Albuterol was responsible for the exacerbation and suggested that I try using Atrovent instead.
