combivent

Avatar n tn According to the Combivent website, the only difference between Combivent MDI and COMBIVENT RESPIMAT is the delivery system.
Avatar f tn I was using something called Combivent which made me cough every time I sprayed. My pulmonologist asked if I were using a "spacer" attached to the inhaler. Of course, neither she nor the pharmacy had offered one to me. Instead, I switched to QVAR which is much more effective and lasts longer than 4 or 6 hours. The down side is that QVAR is a steroid; however, I have yet to notice any negative side effects after about 3 years of use.
Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?
Avatar n tn Yes, it feels like I don't need the combivent regimen since I started the flovent. I use the combivent mainly before exercise with 02. . Unfortunately my insurance is minimal and I only get to see my pullmanary doctor who proscribes these meds, once every six months. Next I see him I will have a list of questions; partial derived from the excellent discussions on this board. Thanks to all for these discussions.
212161 tn?1599427282 I use advair twice a day and combivent when my asthma kicks in and i don't notice much racing when i use em
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
Avatar n tn ve recently had an asthma attack due to spring pollen and other related environmental condition that increase during this season. I take a Combivent inhaler as a rescue treatment for my asthma. The problem at this point is that is a provides short relief and has choked me to the point of passing out. Could you please tell me what is causing this reaction. What would be a better method and inhaler. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Advair and Spiriva is a common combination of meds for COPD patients. However, you should also have a rescue inhlaer containing some form of albuterol. Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws.
1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth. The bilateral spacer in on her first molars (not premolar). My question is should it be removed or is it normal for the space to close? And how are the spacers usually removed?
Avatar n tn My dentist easily put in a spacer tooth, that only adhered to the side of the teeth beside it. It cost very little. It was attached with glue on the sides i believe and with a thin coat of material on the back of the teeth (on the spacer and one tooth on either side). It is not noticeable, nor can you feel the material on the back of the teeth serving to join them. The only problem was that the natural teeth colored, whereas this floating spacer did not, it stayed very white.
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar n tn s sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar n tn You might try asking your doctor to prescribe Combivent/Duoneb. This is an already prepared mixture of Albuterol and Ipratropium. It is available as an inhaler, as well as a nebulizer solution. Although you can ask your doctor to be sure, Pulmicort should probably be taken separately.
Avatar m tn In November, had hip pain with a recurrent infection. Both implants were removed and an antibiotic spacer was put in. Started on iv Cefa in a Pikk line 3 times daily for 6 wks. It was a non resistant Staph, still sensitive to Cefa. Off antibiotics for 2 weeks, inflammatory markers were normal. Slides taken during the revision when they replaced the metal implants on Jan 12 '10 showed less than one WBC per high power field.
1468681 tn?1286511575 If you are using these products 1) Have your doctor check your technique as inpropper inhalation rate can cause the medicine to drop on the tongue and cause the irritation. You could also ask to try a spacer with the medication. That might require a change of prescription as the dry powder medications can't be used with a spacer. You will need one of the Hfa forms. 2) Rinse your mouth out very well after using them. I gargle and then brush my teeth.
Avatar m tn I know my child needed a spacer when he had a baby molar removed, is there a permanent spacer or something along those lines? I am not a vain person, I just don't want things to get worse. Can I have the tooth removed now and how much time do I have to make a decision?
Avatar n tn My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
