Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar f tn Combivent is another option used by many COPD patients. It contains albuterol and ipatropium. Combivent may be off the market in the US though as the EPA has banned the use of CFC's propelants in inhalers. I don't think they were able to reformulate this medication to fit these new laws. However, since Combivent is unique, it may have gotten an exemption or extension. If you are an asthma patient, the use of anticholenergics like ipatropium and Spiriva for therapy is increasing.
Avatar n tn recently diagnosed with COPD/emphysema. hospitalized three times: finally determined that i'm allergic to sulfate based albuterol, combivent, all of the usual "suspects." i'm now on advair (one week= 115 ) and doing okay - except the only rescue inhaler i can tolerate is primotene mist. just took an oximeter test - came out 86-87. i think it's too soon to go on oxygen, until we see if advair works. but i worry about the advair too.
Avatar f tn there are nebulized meds like combivent and COPD meds that may help and have less side effects there seem to be some new neublized COPD meds that I saw at the doctor's office

Avatar f tn Hi, I have just received a diagnosis of COPD with a lung function test of 60%. I am a smoker but I am only 34 years old. I am trying to quit. I have other chronic conditions such as back and neck pain, basal cell carcinoma, and mental illness. My question stems from when I had sepsis 2 years ago, I almost died from the infection. Is it possible for sepsis to cause lung damage? I also have just recently had bronchitus again and that took about five weeks to get over.
20811006 tn?1518459943 Its a mild case of COPD and was prescribed Combivent as needed, I recently started having a burning in my left side lung, my pulmonologist felt it was acid reflux, I had no other acid reflux symptoms besides the burning throughout the day. I became ill feeling and felt I had the flu and went into the ER where the prescribed Azithromycin and Prednisone I was reluctant to take them as I do not take medicine unless its absolutely necessary, Not even a Tylenol.
Avatar n tn My questions are, How serious is this side effect, Should I continue using the Spiriva, Continue the Spiriva but stop the Symbicort, or Drop both and just take Combivent which I currently use as my emergency inhaler? Are there other alternative that I and my doc should consider.
Avatar f tn I do understand as well, about your fears and deep concern about the moderate emphysema. In Oct. 07 I was diagnosed with COPD...Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. I was in the moderate stage of this lung disease. Moderate emphysema is COPD. Did your doctor just tell you that you had the emphysema? Or did the doctor run tests to prove the diagnosis of COPD? Whether this doctor just told you that you had the emphysema or if the doctor ran tests, makes all the difference in the world.
Avatar n tn I have severe COPD. Is there a ereconstructive lung surgery that will greatly improve my breathing? I really need help so maybe I can actually go to the grocery store and/or pick up my grandchild, etc.
Avatar n tn I have COPD ---had Lung Volume reduction in 1996 . LAtely the desease seems to be coming back but I keep asking Doc about Phlegm stuck in my throat ( thought maybe a trip to ear nose throat man may help? ) making it hard to breathe . I'm interested in knowing if this Medral Dose Pak would help ?? Is it Steroid? Right now I'm taking 20 mg of prednisone to help with breathing .
Avatar n tn zone so she prescribed combivent 4 times a day and ventalin Inhaler for sudden attacks as she suspects COPD. I will be doing lab tests and other test next week. Although I am a smoker I had been attributing recent episodes of breathlessness with allergies. Because if my cat had been in my room and I go to bed I will awake coughing with my nostrils closed up so I would get up take Nyquil and go back to sleep.
347645 tn?1283220742 I have COPD and am on an inhaler. Lately it is harder to breath I sit up do breathing techniques, take my inhaler stay in room with cold shower running. Nothing helps...does this mean my COPD is getting worse. Also the beds of my fingernails are blue.
1580703 tn?1651904887 ve tried symbicort, dulera, prednisone, combivent, diamox but my O2 is dangerously low when I have a bad sleep apnea night. I have resistance when I exhale. Is there a medication that can help like cromolyn or a COPD med? I tried spiriva but it didn't seem to do anything.
Avatar f tn COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke. Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with COPD. I use Combivent twice a day. I have a odor in my nose. It smells like bread/yeast.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with copd and low oxygenation level when walking and sleeping . I function well and do all the things I usually have done. Avatar f tn Dear All, My son is three years old, sometimes he has a constant cough and I use for him 1ml combivent and 1ml pulmicort in the nublizer, these days combivent is out of stock, can i use pulmicort alone and what is the recommended dosage. Please advise.
Avatar n tn I have been using Combivent for about a month together with Asmanex to treat my cough-variant asthma and have had pretty good results. However, the first inhalation of Combivent always triggers a major coughing spell (sometimes it's so severe I almost vomit or my ribs hurt). Are there other bronchodilators that might be easier to inhale and still be effective? Or would using a nebulizer help? I've heard there can be adverse side effects with a nebulizer.
Avatar f tn I was using something called Combivent which made me cough every time I sprayed. My pulmonologist asked if I were using a "spacer" attached to the inhaler. Of course, neither she nor the pharmacy had offered one to me. Instead, I switched to QVAR which is much more effective and lasts longer than 4 or 6 hours. The down side is that QVAR is a steroid; however, I have yet to notice any negative side effects after about 3 years of use.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if an inhaler ( I use combivent) can aggravte PACS and PVCS? I had breakfast this morning and then used my inhalers and my heart started doing some weird pvcs and pacs anyone else ever have this happen?

1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn Not sure if that is correct, but I had 1 puff (not the full dose of 3 puffs) of Combivent about 4 1/2 or 5 hours before the test. Would that make the numbers completely unreliable? Seems like it wouldn't have that much affect, but I'm hoping someone knows. Do I need to retake? Your advice would be very much appreciated.
Avatar n tn do you find nebulizers help?
