1872071 tn?1320287532 I was in a motor vehicle accident ten years ago and have damage to my brachial plexus. I have had the pains similar to the ones associated with brachial plexus damage (shoulder pain, neck pain, arm pain, chest pain) for a long time now I have been getting heart palps, fast heart beat and pain in the center left portion of my chest. Its very scary. I have talked to my dr who sums it up to anxiety but it happens no matter what is going on.
Avatar n tn After the surgery, I developed brachial plexus palsy. The palsy resolved whitin six months, but I still have a lot of muscle loss in my left arm and deltoids. I also have noticed that my left shoulder is slightly lower than my right one. Since I did not have this problem before the surgery, I was wondering what causes this, and whether it can improve.
Avatar m tn this is proximal to the brachial plexus, and would not correspond to a lesion in the plexus, more likely in the neck. MRI of the C-spine and possibly an EMG would be useful to pinpoint the source of your pain.
Avatar f tn The brachial plexus can lead to oppression of the reasons could be cervical spondylosis or a tumor, so that this situation is to go to hospital to be a system of checks to see clearly after the cause is more appropriate course of treatment.
Avatar f tn Brachial plexus injury is an injury to the network of nerves that sends signals from your spine to your shoulder, arm and hand. A brachial plexus injury occurs when these nerves are stretched or, in the most serious cases, torn. For some insight: "One little-discussed complication is injury to the brachial plexus nerves, which should be considered when the patient complains of acute onset of shoulder pain, weakness and/or paralysis following the surgical procedure.
Avatar n tn It is rare to have a lymph node enlarged as a result of brachial plexus injury. The cause of the plexus injury, however, can lead to a lymph node enlargement. If the injury is due to a penetrating trauma, the accompanying infection may lead to an enlarged lymph node. Are you sure the swelling is a lymph node ? There are reports of nerve tumors being mistaken for lymph nodes. How is the lymph node to touch ? Is it hard/soft and mobile/fixed ?
Avatar m tn also, have you ever heard of a brachial plexus injury I read something about this and it sounds like this may be what I have its basically the same thing you are describing
Avatar f tn I did have a birth injury to my left arm, erbs palsy (brachial plexus injury). (I am 58). I am at my ends with this because of the feeling. Can you guide me to what I can do..
Avatar f tn Hello, It may be related to nerve impingement (pinched nerve), which can originate in the neck (cervical spine). This condition called “Brachial Neuritis”, or “Brachial Neuralgia”, is due to the involvement of the group of nerves exiting from the spinal vertebrae, called the “Brachial Plexus”. Secondly,it can be due to spasticity of the trapezius and underlying smaller muscles. The spasticity of the muscles can be brought on by overuse or trauma to the muscle.
429949 tn?1224691579 Reports of serious adverse events, without regard to causality, received by the vaccine manufacturer included anaphylaxis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, brachial plexus neuropathy, transverse myelitis, multiple sclerosis, encephalopathy, and erythema multiforme (SmithKline Beecham Biologicals, unpublished data, 1995). The majority of these events occurred among adults, and approximately one third occurred among persons receiving other vaccines concurrently.
Avatar f tn The presence of a cervical rib can cause a form of thoracic outlet syndrome due to compression of the lower trunk of the brachial plexus or subclavian artery. These structures are entrapped between the cervical rib and scalenus muscle. Compression of the brachial plexus may be identified by weakness of the muscles around the muscles in the hand, near the base of the thumb.
Avatar m tn My father was in a car accident last April which almost he and my step mother. His most severe injury was total avulsion of his Brachial Plexus nerves and an avulsion in his lumbar region. He has near total paralysis in his arm, meaning he can move his thumb a little but no function. Due to the lumbar avulsion he has Horner's syndrome as well. His injuries are non operable at this stage but is a possibility in the future to restore SOME function.
Avatar m tn For your information, these fingers are innervated by the median nerve, which originates in nerve roots C5-T1, and branches through the brachial plexus near the armpit, (if I remember my anatomy.) I imagine your symptoms are consistent with specific rotator cuff treatments. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I went in for a brachial plexus MRI two days ago to evaluate a tumor. I was given the gadolinium contrast through IV and was in the MRI for about an hour. I am a 58 y/o female, post menopause. I don't know if it's a coincidence or a side effect of the contrast/MRI but since yesterday I've been having a burning sensation vertically in my neck and been having sudden onsets of sweat on and off. Could it be some sort of internal burn or reaction to the contrast?
Avatar m tn Try calling the hospitals (preferably a teaching hospital) in your area and explain that you are calling for a referral to see a specialist to treat your condition. Or, you can do a Google search, which is probably the route to go, as you may be able to read reviews from actual patients who have been treated by the various physicians to help assist you in narrowing down your choice.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for query, You have not mentioned your age, if you are elderly there is chances of having inflammation of the bone in the nerve route causing pain in the fingers. There is possibility of some pressure on brachial plexus while sleeping pressure giving rise to nerve route pain. Hope this answers your query.
Avatar n tn 1) Started a month ago - acute brachial plexus pain in left shoulder. Very painful. After 2-3 days the pain died off a bit was still present for about 3 weeks. This pain was only when the shoulder was moved backward or when I applied pressure to a certain spot in the shoulder. This was accompanied by a tingling in the left thumb. 2) After this pain dissapeared the tingling remained only lightly for a week or so. I then got a tingle in my left big toe. Not as bad.
Avatar n tn There could also be nerve damage since the Brachial Plexus comes off the spine at this area. The brachial plexus is a network of nerves in the shoulder area that controls the muscles of the chest, upper arm and shoulder.

Avatar f tn Thoracic Outlet Syndrome symptoms are generally caused by compression of the soft tissues at the side of the neck.Nerve bundle called the brachial plexus passes through this area and their compression or entrapment in a certain posture of the body causes pain. This condition called “Brachial Neuritis”, or “Brachial Neuralgia” is a part and parcel of thoracic outlet syndrome.
