320944 tn?1245966599 Thanks for caring, I have not had any tram since the day i posted which was 09/13/2010. I got some clonidine .02mg that i take twice a day. The clonidine is actually used for high blood pressure which i do have now from stopping the tram, but there is also some kind of chemical in the clonodine that helps you clear off your opiate receptors, therefore reducing and eliminating your craving for opiate like drugs. Best thing is a months supply only costs $11.00 without insurance.
1926359 tn?1331588139 Am on day two of detox though I am still on a tiny amount of opiate-I was too scared to cold turkey as the last time I did I had seizures. This time however I have clonidine-and I am finding it is making it bearable enough to sleep for short periods of time. I also am taking the L-Tyrosine and vitamins from The Thomas Recipe. I would like to drop the rest of the opiates and just get this over with-if the clonidine continues to work this way. will it? Or is this going to get worst?
Avatar n tn problem is i was taking around six mgs of klonopin everyday for three months and i wanna stop....someone told me clonidine will work for the benzo withdraw? it doesnt seem to be.....anyone got any ideas???
Avatar n tn nuerontin is a non-addictive medication used for seizures but also to block pain signals to the brain It will not help u get clean unless u want to do the work...

Avatar n tn clonidine is used for many different things: high blood pressure, excessive sweating, adhd, tourettes, restless leg syndome, migranes, bad menstration, flushing related to menopause, methadoneand opiatedetox, withdrawal from alcoholand benzodiazepines/valium.clonidine by epidural injection has been used to treat cancer pain.
Avatar n tn clonidine (it's actually a blood pressure medication) is typically used a lot for opiate wd's....it works because during wd's, your blood pressure tends to rise and you get uncomfortable symptoms, and the clonidine helps your blood pressure return to normal....only thing to watch out for is if your blood pressure is NOT that high, because then the clonidine can make you very dizzy, lightheaded and woozy....
Avatar f tn HE ALSO TAKES CLONIDINE, LEXAPRO, SULFSALIZNE FOR COLITIS AND HE GETS ALLERGYSHOTS AND TAKE LORATIDINE FOR ALLERGIES. Avatar m tn They will also give me clonidine for panic attacks, phenobarbital for anti seizures, IV fluids and zofran for nausea and I will be hooked up at all times to a heart monitor. Oh yeah and I also have multiple sclerosis. Have any of you got off your meds this way.? I'm supposed to be in the hospital about a week and then ill be on AutoZone if it works for pain. Otherwise ill have to try a morphine pain pump.
439522 tn?1214951189 I also looked it up on the FDA website and they had statistics where they have 180 cases reported of withdrawals and drug seeking behavior for it, and like 150,000k for oxy and 75k for hydro. Boy are those numbers all low, you can bet! lol Thanks for the warning, though...I'm definitely taking it all into consideration.
Avatar n tn I have been taking xanax for a year and a half. I recently tried to stop on my own, and found out how bad the withdrawals were. I went to a doctor yesterday and he gave me klonopin. Isn't klonopin the same thing? How is this going to help me? He gave me another appointment for next week and said we would discuss what we would do next. What else could we do? Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn Based on personal experience of opiate Oxy withdrawal, the medicine Clonidine got rid of all my physical withdrawals except for the motivational, boredom symptoms that also come with WDs. I had to ask my doctor for it. So I'm only saying this as for your information...
Avatar f tn How long do you normally take clonidine for withdrawal symptoms from Oxycontin and Percocet?
Avatar m tn i tried taking tramadol for my addiction to heroin and oxycontin and was able to stay clean for two months, but yes tramadol is addictive and can cause seizures in ppl who try and go CT with it, especially at the high dose you were at. I alsow as on suboxone treatment for my addcition for over 8 months, i am now on methadone and for me its worked a lot better, but for youre case I would try and just taper off completely and if you want a doctor to help you they def. can, i would even suggest it.
902736 tn?1242615086 I hear Tram is horrible too, I was addicted to lortab for abt 5 yrs. I am glad you are being monitored! Ask for clonidine, if you can take that for help with w/d.
Avatar f tn Kids at school are beginning to notice and are asking her about it. I have been given a prescription for Clonidine. Has anyone tried Clonidine? Was the Clonidine successful? What side effects were seen?
401554 tn?1270213756 For the last 5 yrs I've been taken the clonidine patch for high BP, no side effects, but the PVC's are still there off and on.
Avatar f tn I am taking clonidine for my Subutex withdrawal. It has definetly helped with the anxious creepy crawly feeling. It also helped with hot flashes. I wasn't given any info on not to mix it with pain meds, but you may want to call you doctor to find out. Or even a pharmacist might be able to tell. good luck!
Avatar m tn Thanks for the quick reply and no i have not had any narcs or anything. The only thing i take are high doses of vites abd veggies also drinkin tons of water and urinating every ten minutes. But i am pleasantly surprised that i do not so far have restless leg syndrome or any of the symptoms im reading on here about. Kind of scares me just waiting for the other ball to drop and start having all these other symptoms. So you think this bieng day three that i should be ok.
Avatar m tn 1mg at 10am, 4 pm since i started and trazodone 100mg at night for sleep... anyone have experience with these? ive heard clonidine if you just stop taking it it can spike your blood pressure... and trazodone is addictive? i dunno.... anyway any comments would help.. i was gonna start today by reducing the trazodone in half and tomorrow cut back to just one clonidine a day for 3 more days... sound alright?
Avatar f tn I called pain mngt dr today and they jumped my *** for quitting and told me go to er, then er dr gave me nausea med, clonidine, and more norcos. I took the nausea med and clonidine but 6 hrs later still bad. I gave in and took a Norco, feel 90% better. So what do I do? I cant do rehab, I have 4 kids and would lose my job. My pain mngt dr said they will put me on different meds to detox but those sound bad too, and what about my pain? The pain is what started this hell.
Avatar f tn you would be at risk for seizures....good luck and keep posting here for support....more people will come along and give you more advice that have quit trams...there's actually a group on here with people that have stopped trams....
Avatar m tn I went to see my doc and he wants me to continue taking the conidine and ativan but to reduce the clonidine to .1 for two days, then 05 for a day then stop it. He advised just to take the avtivan at night until I can fall alseep on my own. He also gave me some roxicet and told me to take 3 today, 2 tomorrow and one the next day. He claims this will help me with cravings until I get into rehab where I can get something tradition for the craving...I start rehab on Monday and it lasts 5 weeks.....
Avatar n tn She also suffers from ADHD, which I have to say which is the worse of 2 evils! She is taking 300mg of Zonegran for the seizures and Vyvanse and intuniv for the ADHD. I was also told to give her B6 for her very very very bad mood swings which also comes with these 2 diseases. It does help! I was also told by a friend about a vitamin called 5-HTP. Does anyone know anything about this? This is a very hard thing to deal with, I wish like most parents I can take it from her.
Avatar f tn Clonidine was initially used as an antihypertensive but it has come to be used to treat a variety of behavioral disorders including tics, symptoms of ADHD, aggression, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, or sleep problems. Medication of this sort can be helpful and has shown to be most effective in conjunction with systematic behavioral programming.
Avatar f tn SO happy to hear that you want off these pills. First thing - you gotta come clean with your doctor and tell him/her you are addicted. If you decide to taper then he/she can give you advise about how to do so (plan out how to reduce your amounts). If you can jump off now, then maybe he/she can prescribe Clonidine for you - a BP med that helps tremendously with w/d symptoms (I didn't use it, did not know about it, but have learned about it here).
