Thank you so much for your response. May I also ask what length of time would I take the Biaxin? And is there any home treatment, Like garlic pills etc. that would help augment healing? ( since Biaxin is not considered the best treatment.) Although I'm stuck with that. And frankly, I was on the Clindamycin for weeks and that didn't get rid of the infection, so maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic will work for me. I sure hope so. thank you again for your advice.

Because I have an artificial joint I take 600mg of Clindamycin Prior to dental work. I han root canal done on a tooth under a permanent bridge a year ago by a General Dentist. One hour start to finish. It was infected, but I was never given any additional antibiotics. Since that time had an ongoing foul taste and odor when I used Water Flosser daily. The adjacent tooth became infected and also required a root canal. This time done by an Endadontist.

I'm allergic to penicillin and sulfa. Dentist prescribed Clindamycin 150 mg for 10 days for infection in my tooth. Got hives, rash, swollen lips and extreme itching and blotches from head to toe. I have been on clindamycin 150mg 2 every 8 hours for 4 days with a gum abscess. Its still hasnt come to a head yet, and very painful , I can feel a heart beat in it.Was wondering how long will it last. And is there any way to make it come to head. Had mini dental implants put in 3 years ago with 4 up top ,, and the gum abscess is right on top of it .

hi and welcome.....sorry to hear abt your kitties troubles..clindamycin drops are a very good choice for dental infections...however I am concerned you've not seen improvement in 2 weeks...they are not recommended for use for more than 14 days!!! I will give you a link to this info... I think your kitty really needs to see a Vet specialist...is there a teaching Vet hospital nearby? they would have a variety of specialist to look more thoroughly into whats going on.....

I figured I would keep that medicine and take only if it flared back up while I was waiting for dental insurance to kick in at some point. Well, still looking for a job and now it's starting back up. I'm so afraid to take it because of the fear of how long it will be before I find a job. Even if I find a job I will try to at least apply for Care Credit to help pay for the treatments even if I don't necessarily have dental insurance to cover it yet at that point.

Hi, Last year I went to India for holiday. While I was there, I went to a dentist for cleaning my teeth. They cleaned my teeth by using the necessary dental equipment perfectly. But when they were doing it some bleeding also happened in my mouth. Everything went fine till they finished the work. After I leave chair to pay the fees, they put another patient in the chair and I felt like they are using the same equipments and other utensils for the next person. I am pretty sure about it.

My 8 year old cat, Kupid was diagnosed with a dental abscess about a week ago and put on clindamycin 1 ml twice a day.
