1326572 tn?1275500911 My liver and blood count look great but my doc said my kidney function is slightly off. The creatinine is high at 1.09 and the GFR is low at 54. I was occasionally taking ibuprofen but have stopped completely now. I'm also on mtx, folic acid, norco for pain and also xanax. The doc said she wasn't too worried but she wants to watch it. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing.
Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. And we all know how that one goes--there is a shortage of transplantable kidneys and they go to the people who have been on the list the longest. So get to a kidney doctor now!
Avatar f tn t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Avatar f tn When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics. Too much diaretic can effect kidney function and too little will effect heart function. We did see a kidney specialist concerning this, and the primary care physician is in communication with him. Dad also has vascular dementia. I know how hard dealing with memory loss can be for both patient and family. I will keep you all in my prayers.
Avatar m tn and creatinine is very poor test for kidneys function, for example body builders can have high creatinine but everything is fine...it is too dependent on muscles and many with kidneys damage never get it abnormal much better all the other tests by the way hbv damages kidneys too, it can infect kidneys but not replicate there.
Avatar f tn I have had back pain around kidney area for a few months and went to docs. She examined me and said my right kidney was inflammed. I was starting to get some pain right side under ribcage too. Mild dull ache type pain. Also still around side and back. Went back 2 weeks later and she examined again and said kidney had gone down but could still feel it. Sent me for an Ultrasound scan. I went on Wednesday this week.Thursday the surgery called me to make appointmen for a blood test (LFT).
Avatar f tn I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
Avatar n tn Two normal kidneys account for 100% of kidney function. A single kidney provides about 50% of kidney function. One can lead a normal life with one kidney as long as the single kidney remains healthy. When kidney function drops to less than 50% of normal, the risk of health problems increases. Serious health problems are more frequent when kidney function drops to below 20%. Dialysis or transplant is necessary if kidney function falls to 15% or below.
Avatar n tn His cardiac surgeon was concerned going into surgery about his right kidney because of his kidney function. He has had kidney stones in past and has had problems since with it. I'm hoping this is just due to surgery since it was an 8 hour procedure. Any info about this would be helpful.
Avatar f tn I know from my own kidney disease (CKD) and my siblings and mother kidney problems that we have PKD. It’s genetic from one parent which means it starts later in in life (30+yrs or older). If both parents carry the gene then problems start in early childhood. My daughters started at age 2 and she is 43 with high BP and other kidney problems. Drugs can cause problems but you usually recover with minimal damage.
Avatar m tn I have spoken to my family in the UK and searched the internet and can nothing about taking milk based products and antibiotics together. Is this a German idea? Please can you offer some information.
Avatar f tn The blood urea nitrogen or BUN test is primarily used, along with the creatinine test, to evaluate kidney function. Those with advanced cirrhosis may have an impact on kidney function as their liver function progressively fails. This is why the creatinine level is one the the blood tests that make up the MELD score that determines the need for liver transplantation. Typically when a patient experiences Hepatorenal Syndrome as a result of cirrhosis a HIGH creatinine level is seen.
Avatar m tn Kidney function tests are common procedures used to evaluate kidney (renal) function. Refer to the following documents for details of how each test is performed: BUN Creatinine - blood Creatinine clearance Creatinine - urine http://www.umm.edu/ency/article/003435.
Avatar f tn I and my husband received IV continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise.
Avatar f tn I asked because some people take antibiotics long term for acne or other medical conditions and usually those types of antibiotics are not safe during pregnancy at all, let alone for extended periods of time. Most antibiotics are safe though and if your Dr is prescribing it for an infection than its best to take it as the benefits outweigh the risks.
5317403 tn?1366340201 My father has had diabetes for a very long time (decades). He's now 66 years old, and has 7% Kidney function. He goes to all his doctor's appointments, takes a whole mess of meds, and occasionally works out (when forced..). Despite all this, I know he'll eventually need a kidney transplant, and being his only child I may be a match for that. However, my sisters (we have different fathers) insist that he will just go through the kidney too quickly, and that there's no point.
Avatar f tn She has quickly moved to Stage 3 kidney disease. We originally attributed her failing kidney function to her food. We have been feeding her gluten free food because of her allergies, but they have a high protein and sometimes higher sodium and phosphorus content. After reading countless labels, we think we have found the best combination, but her kidney function continues to decrease.
Avatar f tn Alternatively, you can take clindamycin for the bv and drink a boat load of cranberry juice for the UTI and water of course. It will take longer to clear up the UTI but it should work. It did for me in a pinch. It just took a couple of extra days. Of course if you are diabetic you can't.
Avatar f tn she thinks she is going to die with only 70 percent kidney function and kidney cyst. the last time the specialist said her cysts were tiny and not to worry. she is scared and is 82 years old. i don't know what to do to calm her down. the dr gave her xanaz 0.25 i hope she dosen't get addicted to this.
Avatar f tn I donated a kidney to my brother 8 years ago. My creatine level is now 1.3 and my doc says it's okay because I have one kidney. Is this correct? Should I be concerned?
Avatar n tn Hi..did doc suspect C-Diff? If so, let him know right away you've stopped the Flagyl. Stool tests will confirm, and clindamycin is the top "offending antibiotic" for causing C-Diff, which is treated with Flagyl or Vancomycin. The numbness could be a side effect from the Flagyl - nasty med but it is what you need to be taking if in fact C Diff is the culprit. Best of luck to you.
