Avatar f tn And, I cannot recall how bioidentically friendly this packaged hormone is. Remember, if you are on either Vivelle estradiol or Climara, you are on a bioidentical. It does not have to come in a cream form to be bioidentical. And frankly, the patches work so well ... the cream is fine, but if you are working with someone who likes to mix estradiol with estriol, that should be a big discussion. Estradiol is now the preferred estrogen. Much of the hoopla around Estriol years ago has died down.
Avatar m tn Common side effects of Climara Pro include: patch application site reactions (skin redness, irritation, or skin rash), abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, breast tenderness or swelling, headache, weight changes,
Avatar f tn I am on a patch too - I am not sure of your brand, but mine is bio-identical and just that it bypasses the liver means less side effects. The side effects are typically caused by too much or too little of the hormone. Have you consulted an endocrinologist to see how your hormones are as you may need a thyroid increase or other medication and you then may not need depression and anxiety medications.
Avatar f tn I'm 48, had hysterectomy 10 yrs ago but still have my ovaries. Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too.
709441 tn?1233340088 I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet is an amazing (and huge) book. Don't let it overwhelm you. You have to do the reseach on this stuff or it will get the better of you.
Avatar f tn so i personally recomend it I use the Vivelle patch its a small dime size patch I put on lower belly two times per week...I have no negative side effects at all. You may request gettting hormones checked you wont have any from ovaries..the pararthyroid adrenal and thyroid all produce levels that can be checked..
Avatar f tn I think up to 12 weeks. Keep in mind that they have to disclose possible side effects. All these fertility drugs have crazy side effects......why is it that this is the only one noticed.??
Avatar f tn The side effects of Incurin (estradiol) are similar to the effects of any other reproductive hormone therapy and include: hair loss, swollen vulva, swollen mammary glands, and vomiting. The most serious effect from high doses is that estrogen (the active ingredient in Incurin) may have a tumour-promoting effect in target organs with estrogen receptors, such as the mammary gland. The most dangerous effect of PPA (phenylpropanolamine) is hypertension.
Avatar f tn They had given me after surgery some samples of different strengths of Premarin, which seemed if anything to make matters WORSE. So my local family doc called in estradiol 0.025mg/day 7-day patches. Did not help at all, so then they called in a "bio-identical" estradiol 0.05mg/day patch to be changed every 3 days. This almost immediately brought relief, though still had some hot flashes (I can get through those, but NOT feeling like I'm losing my mind!).
Avatar f tn org/drugs-supplements/estradiol-transdermal-route/side-effects/drg-20075306 However, most women really tolerate it pretty well. The half life of this is pretty short meaning it washes out of your system pretty quickly too.
Avatar f tn t affect your whole system. The whole system estrogen (Vivelle and Climara particularly since Estradiol is the best) that many of us take will help a little but you often need a boost. Two weeks of constant use and then about three times a week should be helpful. Hormones, Hormones, Hormones. Who knew? OH, and Madge, I hear you on the Urologist's exam. I left the office the third time I had to see one (a few years after my surgery) and said, "That's it for me for awhile.
Avatar f tn Hi Gayleen, I am going to suggest you consider it is time for a change in the dosage of your patch. I am hoping you are on a Bioidentical patch... all of the info I am about to share is info regarding this type of estrogen patch. I don't know much about the synthetic patches and from what I have read, you will not get the same type of relief since there are "issues" with the synthetics... dose often not high enough...
Avatar n tn anyway, with this decline, you will lose the all important effects of Estradiol in this area, thus causing atrophy which in turn causes the uereter to, shall we say, get out of alignment! I have had times since the surgery, especially times when I have messed around with my hormones when I have been in trouble again in this area. I saw an OB/GYN Urologist in the area and after a dreadful first appointment I did not go back.
1235159 tn?1323009319 0 I'm 40, turning 41 April 24th...... Yikes. I started femara for the first time today which is cd3 for me. I am taking 7.5 mg for five days. I'm interested in how much you are on and what cd you are taking it on? Fingers crossed for both of us!!
Avatar f tn I am 46 years old I am having so much trouble with hrt estrogen estradiol . My side effects are as follows severe tinnitus, phelgm in my lungs and coughing, high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol, positive ANA test boderline lupus numbers, high hscrp test, pains behind my eyes, breathing pain issues, low grade fever, forehead pain, stuffy nose like allergies...all of this has been since I started hrt which was right after my surgery.
1439094 tn?1320322110 I know several other people that have PCOS and they too did not respond to clomid and a couple of them recently got preg on Femera. The success stories for women with PCOS are greater on Femera than Clomid plus the side effects on Clomid are killer and I really didn't have any side effects on Femera! Good luck to you!!
Avatar m tn There is very limited data on that and the only study that supports it has some issues scientifically. These medications can cause sexual side effects for some, not all. Most doctors will tell you that it is an outlier that has this issue and it's not the norm. treating mental health is important.
1651832 tn?1301690605 The only reason I would switch to that form of Estradiol is because my new health insurance is charging so much for the Vivelle and will only cover the generic form of the Climara patch (also a bioidentical estradiol and not a bad choice, but I have heard that women are not liking the generic version. Maybe it will get better sooooon... I hope!) I also take testosterone along with that hormone.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Yes your thyroid and menopause have a massive effect on each other. I am going through exactly the same thing. I was told that HRT can have a settling effect on the thyroid during this transition, unfortunately I personally cannot take it due to it's side effects. So, your thyroid medication needs can change whilst on HRT.
Avatar n tn but there are other pills out there that have more estradiol in them that may be more helpful... check that out, too)... but I am wondering if a little progesterone cream balanced with estradiol is what you need. Do a check on that, too, if that would be something you are interested in. For women without ovaries, such as myself, there are some theories that suggest balancing is not the goal as was once thought...
486867 tn?1307139011 Ask about Nolvadex it is stronger and might not have the same side effects. What was his testosterone level? Were you guys able to get pregnant ever? My level was 379 and I am worried. I saw an endocrinologist and am awaiting a more complete retest of my hormones. I actually got my wife pregnant last year but she miscarried. I don't mean to be nosy, but I might be in a similar situation soon.
