Avatar f tn Two days ago, I completed a 7-day course of antibiotic treatment (clarithromycin for Bartholin's abscess). Now I am experienciing stomach pains and nausea. Could this be an after effect of the antiobitcs? I don't get sick often, and haven't thrown up in years. All of this is quite disconcerting, but, is it normal?

567392 tn?1216751526 My mom was diagnosed with lymphoma of her stomach. The lining of her stomach is surrounded by malignant tumors. Her doctors are trying different rounds of meds. One is called Prev Pak. She has to take this for 2 weeks and then she is going back to the doctor to see if there is a change int he tumors. If not, then she will have to do chemo. My question is... how is this medicine suppose to work. I have researched Prev Pak and have'nt found much info.

Avatar n tn As lagoya mentioned, you may or may not experience side effects. If so, they range from annoying side effects to serious side effects. If it's helpful, when I took flecainide, I had weird dreams, shakiness, tremors and gastointestinal problems. It wasn't horrible, but it was bothersome enough that the doctor switched me to rhythmol. Great suggestion from lagoya on checing out the medication under "Health Topics" above.
Avatar f tn Erythromycin is usually not tolerated well, side effects are mostly on GI system. I do not know who is using this medication now, everyone is using Clarithromycin or Azithromycin now. There is no long term side effectes, just need some time for guts to recover. Take lots of plain yogurt.
Avatar f tn I was just thinking about the pain during labor and im super nervous on what i should do.me and pain dont get along! Are the side effects from a epidural really bad and do it last a lifetime ?
Avatar f tn I was on the same med regiment and yes one of the side effects is the awful bitter taste...It is metalic tasting and it really was bad. I am sure you are over it and the H-P went away...I was on this med series the first of the year and I was so sick with that taste I had to reduce my work hours to cope. Hope you are better and that miserable pain and symtoms are all gone! Best wishes!
Avatar f tn not really considered ablation, only had 3 episodes of afib, i have an asd and right side of heart enlarged, waiting to hear from cardiologist if they are going to close hole in heart which should reduce swelling of right side of heart. more worried about enlargement of heart than afib, because if hole is left untreated the i might get heart failure or heart block, dont know why they put my on such a high dose of sotalol with only 3 episodes of afib within a year.
Avatar n tn Unable to take calcium channel blockers and beta blockers due to very low blood pressure. Also, nitro has some adverse side-effects, as well. In 2009 an endoscopy showed that I had developed GERD, and also another cardiologist diagnosed coronary artery spasm, which he said was the probable cause of my initial heart attack, and to avoid stressful triggers.
Avatar f tn ve heard Prevpac (which is a combination of 2 antibiotics amoxicillin and clarithromycin + an antiacid medicine) has some nasty side effects...Has anyone been on it? If so, what was your experience like? She is apprehensive about taking antibiotics, but her doctor wants her to heal the ulcer (which is sizable).
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed Acebutolol for PVC's and I am literally exhausted since beginning this medication but I didn't see that as one of the side effects. Also, my vision is blurred. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn Has anyone else experienced Monitor Side Effects? The following day after wearing the Monitor I experienced dizzy spells and light headedness. This was not suggestiveness as I never expected this reaction nor had anyone mentioned such a thing. And this surprise had nothing at all to do with why I was monitoring my heart. It persisted for two weeks while I was monitoring in the given manner. I took the Monitor off after that time and the dizzyness gradually went away.
Avatar m tn He had a third seizure there and the vet diagnosed epilepsy. He is on phenobarbitol and had no side effects until last night when he vomited and started head twitching. He is drooling a lot and a bit wobbly. Is this typical? Will it stop ?
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
Avatar f tn Instead of coming off the the meds abruptly, think about coming off of the meds a step at a time over a period of weeks-to-months. There can be a problem with 'rebound' reflux and it can make a person miserable. So please factor that into your plan. Issues being reported with the use of PPIs and heart/electrical conduction disturbances, and this side-effect is now being noted on the 'side-effect' section of the patient handouts on these medications.
907968 tn?1292622204 I just got a refill of my Carvedilol (3.125mg) I take two pills in the morning and two in the evening and it has been this way since August '09. I read the side effects just out of curiosity and I had nothing better to do and what I found was, "Check with your Dr. as soon as possible If you experience cold or numb legs or feet or unusual leg pain". And it goes on to say "Contact your Dr. immediately if you experience....(lists what seems like 10,000 things)...
Avatar n tn I've been on armour about a week and half for my hypo and have just recently started to feel some side effects. I've started getting some pains in my chest, it feels like it's right up under my heart, mostly during the night or in the morning. They don't really last long but I definitely notice it when its there. I am also very aware of my heart beat, even though it's not racing and at a normal rate, around the time these happen.
Avatar m tn Metoprolol is like the Tic-Tac of beta blockers. Lots of people take it with little aide effects. I take 75 milligrams per day, but have been on as high as 200 milligrams per day.The dose you have put yourself on is extremely small. Metoprolol's half life is approximately 5 hours. If you do the math, you will see there is very little left of the drug in your blood when you take your next dose.
