But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter.
Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act?
There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time.

I have bronchitis with a severe cough I am taking 50mg cortisone a day I am not able to cut down yet as the cough is too severe. It's been around 4 weeks since it started as a sore throat and moved down to my chest am taking antibiotics Clarithromycin 250mg & Doxycycline Monohydrate (50mg), Rikodeine or Codeine cough suppressant, Symbicort inhaler. I'm not sleeping well a couple of hours here and there and I'm exhausted, am severely constipated.
m on biaxin, but not sure how much it ordinarly costs since my insurance pays most of it.
He has prescribed clarithromycin 500mg twice a day. He told me they are only harmful in the first trimester but NHS says that they should only be used as a last resort if there is no other medicine and the pros outweigh the cons. Normally I would suggest you ask a pharmacist but on Christmas you will be hard pressed to find one. You may call your local ER and ask that question. When I worked in ER it was common to receive those types of questions.

Welcome to the Forum As I read your post, your only unprotected exposure was performing oral sex on one of your partners. This would not cause either the urinary tract or anal symptoms that you have noted. When condoms are applied prior to sex and do not break, condom protected sex is safe sex and not associated with meaningful risk for infection. (Incidentally, if the condoms used appeared intact following sex, they were- when condoms fail they break wide open.
It should've been 2 500mg famvir tablets to take 2x/day for 1 day. Is that what you were given or just 1 500mg pill?
