Clarithromycin chlamydia

Common Questions and Answers about Clarithromycin chlamydia

biaxin

Avatar m tn Also HPV and HIV, and a reduced but not zero chance of syphilis and gonorrhea. Chlamydia is the only STD clarithromycin would definitely prevent.
Avatar m tn d just finished a week course of clarithromycin for a chest infection. The doctor said that this drug could have cleared up a chlamydia infection if I'd had one.
Avatar n tn The only other question I have in about the Clarithromycin. In some post it suggest that it can cure/prevent chlamydia, gonn., NGU and syphillis then in others it suggest that it cannot. If I started taking the meds a day after the exposure am I safe from all bacterial stds or can it suppress the symptoms? Thank You!
Avatar m tn Welcome to the Forum As I read your post, your only unprotected exposure was performing oral sex on one of your partners. This would not cause either the urinary tract or anal symptoms that you have noted. When condoms are applied prior to sex and do not break, condom protected sex is safe sex and not associated with meaningful risk for infection. (Incidentally, if the condoms used appeared intact following sex, they were- when condoms fail they break wide open.
Avatar m tn org/posts/STDs/Conflicting-info/show/943625 that clarithromycin and amoxicillin will cure chlamydia, but there is so much conflicting info on the internet I don't know what to believe :( I just can't wait to get tested, I'm going crazy about it :( Can you explain why I would have a normal urine dip if the bacteria are living in my uretha? wouldn't there be white blood cells in my urine to indicate infection? This stuff all really confuses me.
Avatar n tn We had sex twice that night, the only time since the encounter. The next week my doctor switched me to clarithromycin for my throat. 27 days after the encounter while still taking clarithromycin for my throat infection, I began to have symptoms for chlamydia/gonorrhea. I have not had any discharge or pain/burning while urinating but I have had pain/tickle in my urethra after urination along with pain while driving??
Avatar m tn But here is my question. I ended up with a respiratory infection and the Doc gave me Clarithromycin, I have to take 2X 500mg a day for ten days. I started the medication the day of the sexual encounter. Will Clarithromycin help clear up any of the STD's that I might have caught during the act? There is not too much info on Clarithromycin and STD's out there. I know one thing it is sure working on my respiratory infection big time. Thanks for your responses!
Avatar m tn In the months following the sex, I didn’t notice any symptoms. I got tested 6 months afterwards for gonorrhea, Chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, Herpes and came up negative for everything. Fast forward to present, last month (2 years later) I noticed some symptoms of urethritis: slight burning/discomfort after urination (not during), either a discharge or just drips of urine after urinating, and minor testicular pain/discomfort.
Avatar f tn Hi, if your concerned about chlamydia get tested 7 days post exposure and Clarithromycin is an antibiotic so it may have a positive effect on chlamydia but you would need to talk to you doctor about this as depends on dosage.
Avatar n tn The test for gonorrhea and chlamydia was meaningless because you had received clarithromycin plus the penicillin or amoxicillin. If you had been infected, the antibiotics would have cured it. Your wife's sore throat doesn't change my opinion or advice. You never were infected with anything.
Avatar m tn m a 21 year old male, I had sex a few times with a girl who I just found out has chlamydia, however, I began heavy antibiotic treatment for the cure of Helicobacter pylori (amoxicillin 2g a day, clarithromycin, etc), and I only had sex with her once while taking this treatment, and had 4 days left. Would this treatment have cured my chlamydia if I caught it??? What are the chances I still have it?? ps. I have no symptoms, and this was around 2 weeks ago...
Avatar n tn It came back positive for Chlamydia. I have been treated for this now 4 times, have not had sex in a year with my fiance and my test continues to come back positive. I have been treated with the doxycycline everytime because the other medication I am unable to take due to allergies. Are there any other treatments other than the doxycycline and azithromyacine?
Avatar n tn I have read lots of your post concerning biaxin and azithromycin and whether they cure syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU. I have found that biaxin is chemically different than azithromycin but biologically same at killing bacteria as azithromycin. On some post you say that azithromycin or clarithromycin(biaxin) would cure all the bacterial stds then in others you state that there could be some problems. by H. Hunter Handsfield, M.D.
Avatar m tn Clarithromycin is highly active against syphilis. It would have killed the organism and nipped any infection in the bud. On this basis alone, it is imossible your skin lesions are a chancre or any other manifestation of syphilis. And chancres don't appear sooner than 10-14 days after exposure, usally 2-3 weeks. Finally, your description doesn't suggest syphilis at all. In other words, there is no rationale for even 2% remaining concern about syphilis.
Avatar f tn like gonococci urine, RPR/VDRL, hcv(anti), hbs(Age), hiv 1+2 (elisa/eclia), chlamydia antibody Igm and IgG. All the results came negative. Did a normal throat swab as well. The results came back normal bacterial flora of mouth. Should I do a specific throat swab test for chlamydia gonorrhea herpes and syphillis? Are there any names for such tests? I am waiting for the appointment with a ENT specialist.
Avatar m tn The Gram stain helps to make a rapid diagnosis but it is not specific for chlamydia. Some patients with chlamydia have negative gram stains and only about 40% of persons with gram stains suggestive of chalmydial infection turn out to have chlamydial infection (the others have a variety of other things). As I said, your partner was not treated in the manner recommended by the CDC, the World helth Organization and by nearly every professional organization.
Avatar f tn So, had brief encounter with sex worker. I am a male and she a female, just for clarity and accuracy of response though I'm confident that this is irrelevant. In any case, I received oral sex lasting only a couple minutes then shortly after completed with handjob. Anyway, that night I had extreme regrets as this not something I regularly do, only once before. So in my anxious state, I thought it best to be proactive and see if I could prevent any full infection from developing.
Avatar n tn Does that bring about the same kinds of symptoms of chlamydia? I've had chlamydia once before. This occurrence happened about two months after I got rid of it the first time.
Avatar f tn As fas as I know, nexium (esomeprazole) only interferes with biaxin (clarithromycin). It heightens the amount of esomeprazole by inhibiting the degradation of esomeprazole. Macrobid is nitrofurantoin, not clarithromycin. You may also look here: http://www.ehealthme.com/drug_interactions_side_effects/Nexium-2792078.
Avatar f tn I took 1500mg of Clarithromycin ER, and 1875mg of Amoxicillin that night. The following morning took another 1gm of the Niacin ER & 1375mg of Amoxicillin.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am male 34 y/o who had several encounters with 29 y/o female, all unprotected. Her status unknown. The last encounter was 8 months ago. My two questions, for arguments sake lets say I was exposed to gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, and perhaps other common bacterial STD's. I've had no symptoms other then what I suspect are mental from me thinking about it (urge to urinate, itching, things like that) and visiting sites like this one. 1.
Avatar n tn I have been to multiple doctors and clinics and have been tested repeatedly for all of the major infections (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, HEP A/B/C) as well as numerous tests for potential non-STD related causes (Thyroid, Liver, Kidney, parasites, Lyme disease, Mono, Lupus, and inflammation). Everything so far has come back negative. During this time I have tried taking numerous, heavy doses of various antibiotics, such as Azithromycin / Clarithromycin, Cipro and Amoxicillin.
Avatar m tn Sounds like it could be NGU. Have you ever been treated with antibiotics? Have you been tested for Chlamydia as well? It's more common than Gonorrhea.
