Common Questions and Answers about Clarinex hives

clarinex

Avatar f tn my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain, but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
Avatar n tn Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines. Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness. Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
519035 tn?1348275773 Thanks;) I have some allergy medicine, more in the chest now then in the head;)
Avatar f tn Her OB and PCP told her that taking her clarinex was OK. She is miserable without it and right now has a wicked cold. I have been reading now that clarinex is OK to take and other sites saying it is not OK. She is 21 weeks right now. Why would they say it is OK if it isn't? Thanks for any info.
Avatar m tn In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings. I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals. Again, thank you for your input, Dr. Rajput.
Avatar n tn First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
610453 tn?1259104722 Paliatively I have been on a daily dose of Clarinex and Ranitidine (pepsid without the antacid component I think). This works.....keeps the hives at bay mostly. Recently we have found that my thyroglobulan levels are 10 times the normal level (most defitely accounting for my sudden lower lip hives and severe swelling ). I am waiting for a consult with a new Endocrinologist....hoping he will have some miracle cure to lower this level once and for all and hopefully rid me of the hives.
Avatar n tn I use use Clarinex which helps a little. Tried Claritin and it did not do anything. Most nasal sprays help, a non steroid nasal spray such as NasalCrom might help too and is gentle with virtually no side effects. I found that allergy shots was the only thing that stopped it for me. I don't use nasal sprays anymore. My rynitis was really bad and clogging my air ways. Now it seems to be almost gone. I get a bit sticky but never more than clearing my throat kind of annoyance.
Avatar m tn What really helped me was Clarinex prescription from my doctor. It doesn't work right away. They do have claritin OTC but it is less strong. It takes a while but then it works after a while and then I hardly had any allergies. Another thing you can try along with this is daily Nasal crom spray. It doesn't harm the nose like other nasal sprays.
1438638 tn?1304946457 wow, almost 10 years ago when I was getting hives all over my body. I came up positive for mold, dust, wheat, eggs grasses, and cats. The food allergies have to be mild because besides not being able to get flu shots (they are "grown" in eggs and everytime I've gotten one, I had a reaction), I can eat wheat and eggs. I take Allegra and Clarinex daily and they control the other ones...including CAT! We have three :) Anyway...
Avatar n tn t have the length of time of hives. He just had them for a week. Chronic Hives is usually Hives that last more then a six week period, and he only had them a week. Also auto immune disorders don't usually happen in males. They can, but not as often as females. My great grandmother had auto immune disease and lived to 94, so having it isn't a death sentence. My grandma also has it and she still walks 6 miles a day at age 80. My mother has it and shes almost 60, then there is me.
Avatar n tn Try stopping current contact lens if you have them, try an oral antihistamine like Zyrtec, Claritin, or Clarinex, try an allergy drop like Patenol, Pataday, or Elestat, find out if you have allergies by seeing an allergist, then control any allergens that you are exposed to, see an ophthalmologist to be evaluated for possible oculare allergies, and also to be checked out for dry eyes. Good Luck.
1136103 tn?1260667675 I take singulair, clarinex-d and lipo-flavonoid (for ringing in the ear) also the jelly or goo I am seeing happens almost everyday or every other day, every week is different.
Avatar f tn I developed hives when i had a miscarriage last december, i am now 9 weeks pregnant & i have had hives since just before i found out. Is it possible that im allergic to something with the pregnancy? Any suggestions or information? Ive heard of pupps & it seams to appear later usually.
5513671 tn?1369069675 m a 25 year old male who has had a neck and chest rash for 4 years now. My doctor looked at it for literally 5 seconds max and dismissed it as hives immediately but that is all the more reason for concern. I don't feel like he was being professional or showed any care/concern to properly diagnose or help. The rash started on my neck only about 4 years ago. About 2 years later it spread to my chest and has (so far) stopped spreading. The rash is red, patchy, and very slightly raised.

Avatar f tn I've gotten hives every night for the last three years. We've concluded its from heating up too much. No matter what I do to keep the temperature down, I end up getting horrible, itchy hives from being too hot. I've always taken benadryl to help get rid of them and I've been cleared by the doc to take it, but I feel bad every time, like its poisoning the baby. I've tried some natural methods to get rid of them, but was wondering if you ladies had any suggestions?
