Common Questions and Answers about Clarinex for hives

clarinex

Avatar f tn Another possibility is reactive arthritis, which could have occurred in reaction to something—in this case rash. In this case you need to rule out the cause for the hives or urticaria. Urticaria is usually triggered by allergens, such as drugs, foods, insect bites, inhaled substances, in response to sunlight, cold, heat, stress, exercise, or a viral infection. Other common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, or cosmetics.
Avatar n tn Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines. Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness. Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
Avatar n tn I have been sick many times this spring due to training and my two young kids bringing home everything from school. I have had a cough for 3 months or so now that will not go away. It is triggered when I try to breathe deeply. I feel like I have something in my chest that needs to come up. I cough constantly during hard training efforts. I cough less when not training but it is still there.
Avatar n tn That should be done. Given that this has been going on for 6 months, it is probably time for you to have a CT scan of the lungs and/or a bronchoscopic exam. If your pulmonologist is unwilling to proceed with further testing, then yes you should seek a second opinion. Good luck.
610453 tn?1259104722 s and have been having a horrible bout of hives for several months. I had hives for a year about 9 years ago, so have probably had this problem for some time. I am not getting much relief from my antihistamines either. I read your blog, and tried the Pepsid. My hives went away for 2 days, then came back with a vengeance. Do you take the chewable pepsid, or the pill form? What mg is your pepsid?
Avatar f tn Hi, Hives usually appear suddenly and go away on their own in a matter of days, hours, or even minutes. Chronic hives, however, can last for six weeks or more. Certain people have recurring outbreaks of hives for months or even years, and it's sometimes difficult to pinpoint the exact cause.
Avatar f tn I have had hives for about 6 months. Prior to getting hives I had gotten sick. The hives started off small, one a week. In February they went away and about 2 weeks ago got really bad. Before they got bad, I developed a cough, I have sinus headaches and I have alot of drainage from my nose. I had blood work done and my immunoglobin A is high and my C Reactive Protein is high. It's not an allergy, as I get them all the time or, as before, once a week.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been getting hives on my body for about a month now. It has shown up on my armpits, forearms, elbows, wrists, back, thighs, stomach, and now recently my head has been itching and my ears have been getting hot and red. I have been to a skin doctor and he said it was hives but it could be a million things. I went to my allergist and he said it also can be a lot of things. I am 21 years old and this it the first time this has been happening to me.
595729 tn?1219264277 I've had hives for over 5 years, now they turn to blisters on my handand feey. It hurts to wear shoes, not to mention embarrising! I can't sleep because I scratch myself bloody in my sleep. This was all brought on by a medication I was allergic to, that I took two seperate times over 5 years ago. I've been to many Doctors, no one seems to know how to clear them up. I've taken flax seed oils, zink, calisum, everything I can think of. Can anyone PLEASE help me???
Avatar f tn For pretty much the past 6 or 7 years, I constantly break out in hives whenever I touch anything. It could be that I sit on a chair and get hives on my thighs or open the fridge and get hives on my hands. I've gone to a dermatolagist several times, but even after a scratch test and everything, we've found no reasons for my random breakouts. I'm currently on Allegra and have been for years. I've tried claritin, zyrtec, etc. I need to know what ttis is and how to stop it!
Avatar m tn Another important reason for delayed occurrence of hives can be due to allergic reaction to formed lactic acid after extreme workout. Cholinergic urticaria can be very difficult to treat. Most treatment plans for cholinergic urticaria involve being aware of one's triggers. Drug treatment is typically in the form of antihistamines,H2-receptor antagonists such as cimetidine.
Avatar n tn Take her off the ALLERGIA as that can cause bad hives. I got horrible leg pains and hives down both my legs that by the time I knew what caused it I had to use antibiotics to heal it. Try children's ZYRTEC and one Tagament a day. Watch for an hr to see if she gets a allergic reaction to what ever she uses or eats if earache, coughing, itching start remove what ever she is using or eating for one week.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind that the recent episode, fairly unresponsive to your usual meds, may have been an aberration and that your hives may again become responsive to the medication that has worked so well for you. If the Claritin continues not to help, you may have to switch to another non-sedating antihistamine, such as Zyrtec, on a trial basis.
Avatar f tn One day I started eating them in an ice cream sundae, and of the blue my wrists started to grow hives. I have never had this issue with any other berry in my life. For awhile it wasn't that bad. Now I can't touch anyone who is drinking or eating anything with blueberries in it or I will break out in hives on my wrists. I am wondering what brought this on so fast? Why just my wrists and nothing else? That also makes very little sense.
Avatar m tn So please get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist. Sometimes the treatment of hives may have to be taken for 6 weeks also. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn when his fever is gone from the motrin or tylenol and he takes benidril the hives go away. hes been on a strong antibiotic for his pneumonia but hes still getting fevers over 103 and its been 12 days straight now. any suggestions on what it could be?? his Dr thinks something might be wrong with his immune system and thinks the seizure, hives, fever and pneumonia are all related. what immune dissorders could cause this?
Avatar m tn m starting to worry it might be a symptom for something serious. I have been looking online for answers and have seen posts suggesting cancer all the way to hiv. Any suggestions? Am i over reacting?
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from red itchy welps for 5 days now. They started on my right arm and I thought they were mosquito bites. They progressively have gotten worse and spread all over my body. Any ideas on what this could be?
Avatar n tn Hi I have had severe Hives for 2 mos. This is the worse outbreak I've ever had, and my last case of Hives was 9 yrs ago. I was in the ER 2x this past month, put on IV steroids, antihistamines & Ranitidine. I had extensive blood work done for a multitude of alleries- all negative, Lupus, Lympoma, Lymes disease, CAT scan, all negative. I've done 2 rounds of Presnisone (which helped greatly), but 2 days after the last Prednisone pill- boom the hives came back bad.
Avatar m tn My wife has been experiencing an outbreak of chronic hives for almost 2 years. It started after she broke some bones in her foot and in using crutches she got a pressure hive outbreak. We have tried controlling with H-1 antihistamines. They exacerbate her condition rather than control it. We recently tried hydroxychloroquine with adverse side affects. We have tried L-thyroxin treatment as well but the hives did not go into remission.
