Claritin and Clarinex (they work very differently) might help. Claritin makes me light headed for 30 minutes, raises blood pressure a little but wears off after a few hours. Clarinex works better for me, lasts 14 hours on me. Both are pretty weak for antihistamines.
Other than this there is a couple more that use the same med as Claritin, so same effect pretty much. The other antihistamines usually cause drowsyness.
Don't know of too many nasal sprays with out steroids.
my mom has been experiencing this weird outbreak of hives all over her body, and when she has an outbreak it seems to cause severe joint pain,but not in the same joints it kinda travels around.she has been to an allergist but they put her on predisone and clarinex and zantec but as soon as the pred. is done the rash seems to rehash and the clarinex and othe meds seem not to help at all.
Her OB and PCP told her that taking her clarinex was OK. She is miserable without it and right now has a wicked cold. I have been reading now that clarinex is OK to take and other sites saying it is not OK. She is 21 weeks right now. Why would they say it is OK if it isn't? Thanks for any info.
In the meantime, i have switched allergy medication from Clarinex to Xyzal, which may also be helping a little. I now take the allergy medication before bed whereas before, I had been taking Clarinex in the mornings.
I notice that the problem of too much mucus seems less prevalent in the mornings upon waking up. It worsens in the afternoon and evening, especially after meals.

First is the cough from a problem in side or something you are breathing in? A good test I use is a HEPA filted mask. (the kind you can get in the hardware store with canisters). Wearing that for 5 minutes should clear up the mucus quite a bit if it is something you are breathing in. Easy test and takes only 5 minutes. Try a deep breath with the mask on after 5 minutes and see if you still feel like coughing.
I use use Clarinex which helps a little. Tried Claritin and it did not do anything. Most nasal sprays help, a non steroid nasal spray such as NasalCrom might help too and is gentle with virtually no side effects. I found that allergy shots was the only thing that stopped it for me. I don't use nasal sprays anymore. My rynitis was really bad and clogging my air ways. Now it seems to be almost gone. I get a bit sticky but never more than clearing my throat kind of annoyance.
What really helped me was Clarinex prescription from my doctor. It doesn't work right away. They do have claritin OTC but it is less strong. It takes a while but then it works after a while and then I hardly had any allergies. Another thing you can try along with this is daily Nasal crom spray. It doesn't harm the nose like other nasal sprays.

Hi folks, found a couple of neat articles on what tests are used in Canada so this should put it to rest a little bit. Both of tehse articles are from this year and last and state the thrid generation average window period is 4-6 weeks. They still reccomend coming back at 6 months at my clinic bt Canada is a very beruacratic cya country and will never change this.

t love werid al. I find it so funny that some people from the u.s, just a few, lol, think of Canada totally different than what it is. They think we all hunt, wear snowshoes and eat moose meat, lmfao. Now if you go 1500 miles north where the population is 500 than yes it's a little different. I had one person ask if i had heard of britany spears and she was serious, wtf. I watch CNN everyday, and the U.S culture is part of us here also.

Try stopping current contact lens if you have them, try an oral antihistamine like Zyrtec, Claritin, or Clarinex, try an allergy drop like Patenol, Pataday, or Elestat, find out if you have allergies by seeing an allergist, then control any allergens that you are exposed to, see an ophthalmologist to be evaluated for possible oculare allergies, and also to be checked out for dry eyes.
