Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.
MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression.
I was prescribed lorazepam yesterday for my anxiety. I hate taking medicines which only seems to make my anxiety worse. I am already on 10 mg of citalopram a day for my depression and take it every night. So when I had an attack earlier today took half of the lorazepam (.25) instead of the full dose being the weirdo that I am. That was four and a half hours ago. Knowing my doctor knows I am on both of these medications I forced myself to take my citalopram now before bed.
It is not at all likely your problem is due to citalopram. With Citalopram (Celexa), experts estimate that it can take up to 10-14 days for the drug to fully leave the body. So there has been none of that medicine for longer than 4.5 years. On the other hand, the indications for this medicine are in a population with high anxiety, hypocondria, and axiety greater than the general population. I would susggest you ask the neurologist to refer you to a neuro-ophthalmologist for evaluation.
I was prescribed Citalopram HBR 20 mg and lorazepam 0.5mg for two weeks.. I have never taken any drugs before, and yesterday for the first time I took these medicines. Today when I woke up, I was restless, dizzy and felt like vomiting.. I was so irritable and did not know what to do. I guess I was having anxiety.. The doctor had told me that the meds might show some side effects for a couple of days.. I was ok once I stood under shower, and let myself cool down.

I had to stop taking Mirtazapine last night as the side-effects I was getting from it are apparently rare and will not go away. I have already taken Citalopram, Sertraline and Mirtazapine for my anxiety but didn't get on with them. I have a phone appointment with my GP this evening and would feel better knowing I had an idea what medication might work best for me. I don't want to take Prozac or anything that will make sick/vomit, dizzy or mimic other anxiety symptoms.
I was taking a a a higher prescribed dose of lorazepam than yourself recently but found it was not helping me so it was replaced with another anxiety medication. Mine was stopped and not tampered off, I had no withdrawal symptoms but as I was getting no benefit from it.
If you are getting benefit then it would be worth your while seeing your doctor again and discussing this again.
i am currently taking 20mg citalopram, i suffer with server back problems and im usually prescribed naproxen 250mg which help with the pain. Am i able to take my naproxen with my citalopram? as i am currently lots of pain and unsure what can take.
I take meds lots of them I take lorazepam for the anxiety propranolol for my heart pulsation citalopram and mirtazapine pro chlorpromazine for the dizzyness I no its a lot but they av really helped but by speaking to someone helps to I can't stop the thoughts but by talking to someone helps a little but give it a try write to them hope this helped x
I have been extremely worried about having penile/urological cancer over the past 8 months or so (after a friend contracted lymphoma), and have become so worried that I began having anxiety/panic problems and am now taking 40 mg. Citalopram(Celexa) and a small dose of Lorazepam(Ativan). Years ago a dermatologist gave me hydracortisone but I was worried it would be too harsh, I am currently treating with Vasoline Pet. Jelly after each shower, and using PH balanced non-allergenic body wash.
What exposure risk did you have? Anal or vaginal and was it protected sex?
so after 2 years of citalopram (40mg/day for one year and 20mg/day for another), and feeling ok with my life i disappeared to stop taking it, i asked my psychiatrist and she said ok. soo september 2012 i stopped.so till december 2012, i was felling ok and then it stared i was feeling i bit depressed in the beginning, did not want to do thing, i was feeling tired most of the time.and as the time gone by i stared feeling worse and worse.

Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price.

s concern may come from the fact that the use of an SSRI (citalopram is one) with aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) or other drugs that affect bleeding may increase the likelihood of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. A pain medication such as vicodin which is usually prescribed by dentists, contains acetaminophen which is not a NSAID and does not effect ones bleeding rate. Your dentist may need a course in pharmaceuticals.
Hi there...I take Wellbutrin XL (300 mg extended release bupropion) and no I didn't gain weight on it. I have been on differing doses for over 2 years. Also, no loss of sex drive if that is important to you which is a common side effect of most of the other medications used for anxiety.
My older sister recently moved in with me after losing her husband to cancer. I knew she was taking meds for depression & anxiety. I now know it is 2 mg 3x a day. I want her off, I am working with a doctor but could use some help from others who have been through it. What can I do to help?
I was just prescribed Lorazepam it's the .5mg dosage. I recived the drugs yesterday. I am going on a trip this weekend I i got them to help with the flights
The doctor wanted me to try two last night just to see how my body reacts. Well two wasn't doing to much, so I took two more... and more... uo to ten. It really just made me drowsy, a little slow and wabaly.
Do you think there are worse conseqences to come? I know it was a very stupid thing to do!
