Avatar m tn The Doc wants me to take citalopram for stress. What is the most common side effect?
Avatar f tn I have been on the wellbutrin for about 7 weeks now and off the citalopram for a little over 1 week. Im having a completely different experience than I did before. No dry mouth or weight loss instead headaches, ringing in my ears, clenched jaw, continued weight gain and irritability. Is this a different reaction to the wellbutrin or due to the combination of the two drugs? The headaches are more recent so I figured they may be withdrawal from the citalopram.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone I started having severe anxiety attacks two month ago, though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life. I have been on Citalopram for four days now and the side effects seems to be increasing. I am on a small dose, one quarter of a 20 mg tablet. I am suppose to go up to one half of a 20 mg tab today but am afraid to. I am jittery, have headaches, am groggy but panic when I try to sleep, have heat flashes through my upper body, my eyes feels strange...the list goes on.
Avatar n tn Why was your mother prescribed this medication? It is prescribed for many reasons, high blood pressure, anxiety, cluster headaches, and tremors. It does have a break-in period, and low energy, and sleepiness are part of the break-in period, which can take up to 6 weeks. I have never heard of it being prescribed for depression, but rather anxiety. I think she needs to return to her doctor to re-evaluate this medication.
1451182 tn?1285107397 I have been newly dignose with HIV and have a T cell count of 701 and a viral load of 8 thousand and something I have also been dignose with depression a year ago. I just started back taking Citalopram 40 mg and I'm taking a vitamin B-Complex. I have been have moments of weakness, diharria, headaches, and chest pain for the last week or so. I just want to know if I'm doing something wrong?
1302779 tn?1287405029 m not sure why you mentioned your migraines. Citalopram has no affinity for migraines and headaches is the first side effect listed. I am not a doctor nor a pharmacist, but going by the medical literature, 60mg/day is not unheard of with citalopram in the treatment of depression. This question needs to be addressed by your doctor since you obviously have some concerns about it.
Avatar f tn Good. Take Care.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your answer. I am also taking Citalopram so is there any problem with taking anti-fungals at the same time as this? I do also get recurrent psoriasis, but that is usually at times when I am more stressed. Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn t been on anything for two weeks, I feel the anxiety creeping back and have headaches and nausea. He gave me a Prescription for Wellbutrin, will this help with the weight loss? Will I be able to the weight or does it permanently change your metabolism? Now that I am over weight it is not helping with my self image. I do feel I need some medication to help with my anxiety is this a good choice? Are the side effects minimal?
Avatar m tn I have been taking Effexor 37.5 xr for about 2 1/2 weeks and keep a constant headache. I was prescribed this for night sweats. Will I have a problem if I stop taking it?
Avatar f tn I ended up on citalopram (anti-depressant) at the same time I had the coil fitted (July 2010) for mental health reasons, I now no longer need to take citalopram everyday and my GP has said that it is safe for me to take citalopram just around a period time due to the way I feel each month. I've felt that this has helped compared to taking contraceptive pills, etc.
446049 tn?1649005835 I tried it a while back before I had constant pain. It was prescribed for anxiety, occasional pain in my shoulder, and headaches. I found that it didn't help me much and gave me more headaches but it may have been the combination of the cymbalta and the paxil I was taking at that time.
Avatar f tn I am seeing the nurse practicianer (SP?) today for a med check. They told me not to take the citalopram last night and see how it goes. I work with the worst panic attack this morning. I am feeling a little lost and hopeless as to what to do now.
Avatar f tn Am off to docs this week and I know she,ll probably tell me off for stopping and starting hrt again, and suddenly starting back on citalopram , think probably a lot my problems/symptoms are stress related, bad stomach, headaches, sleeplessness. Am sick of feeling so unwell, maybe its normal and to be expected all these problems as we get older? Anyway if anyone here knows if its safe to take "nightnurse" capsules with the meds Im currently on I would be very gratefull.
Avatar f tn Hi I’ve been started on citalopram for mild anxiety as I’ve been unwell with dizziness and headaches for 5 weeks with no reasoning behind it. The doctor thought I was worrying too much therefore causing anxieties.
Avatar f tn I have days where I think my world is going to crash around me. But it does pass and things go back to as normal as tx will allow. Comes and goes in waves. If you think you can benefit from an AD then see your doctor. In my case no, but many do. It isn't that I'm opposed to them, they just don't work for me. Unfortunately, AD's are not a cure all for everyone, depends on the individual.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with anxiety disorder so was prescribed 10mg of citalopram, took it every morning and it did seem to make a difference but maybe was just a placebo affect. Was on it for 3 weeks the doctors upped it too 20mg. Bern on 20mg for 3 days and dont feel well at all. Got headaches, feel sick, tired. Was wondering could 10mg have been enough to help with anxiety? Also how long will these side effects last?
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
1441157 tn?1284075251 I have bipolar 2 disorder. I have done fine on Lamictal at 200mg for years. after a while we had to add Klonpin for anxiety and up it. I am now on 3 mg. I went through a long depression and decided to take Cymbalta, After about 2 months I had no sexual fuction (female), headaches, constipation, excessive sweating. I weaned off. Felt great for a few weeks now I am depressed again. I get triggers. What can I take for depression with low side effects? Like no weight gain and sexual disfuction.
Avatar m tn my 39 year old wife has had HCV for 20 years, she refuses treatment and she continues to drink about 1 bolttle of wine per night. she also has about 2 ibuprofen per night and recently started to have 2 or 3 Citalopram per day. the reason I am asking this here is due to the fact she refuses to talk about it at all. I do not know what stage or whatever she is at. why would she take an antidepressant? why would she drink and why would she take ibuprofen? would she feel pain in her liver?
Avatar m tn That's a tough question for us common folk. Someone could run his list of meds through a pharmacie program to get a list of interactions. You could also look into SNRIs too, not just ssris. I have gad and couldn't get on SSRIs, they made it worse. Everyone is different with these. Then we tried an Snri and it worked awesome. The one I was on, as a side effect, blocks a critical liver enzyme, so it interacts with just about every medication out there, doubling its half life.
Avatar f tn I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar m tn Both citalopram, (Celexa) and escitalopram, (Lexapro) are SSRI's and both have, as unlabeled uses the control of panic. They both also have CNS side effects of anxiety in the beginning stages of treatment. You say you've been on the citalopram for approximately 5 weeks? It can take up to 35 days for citalopram to reach "steady state" in your blood, which means you won't begin to feel any real relief from your depresson for possibly a bit over a month.
Avatar f tn I think thats why my doctor try the zoloft again because i am thinking i am itching and i am not really having reaction to the medicine but he said you do have sentitvie to medicine that why he had a backup medcine for me. my question is anybody taking Zoloft 25mm or Citalopram 20mm before and any side effects from these medicine? also any tips on controling my anxiety and depression ?
Avatar m tn Impossible to predict. Twitches/tremors are things that are associated with SSRI's they are things I've had in past, but they are no problem now. Citalopram failed me after 3 yrs, went on to Effexor XR & that works for me.
