Avatar n tn t been on anything for two weeks, I feel the anxiety creeping back and have headaches and nausea. He gave me a Prescription for Wellbutrin, will this help with the weight loss? Will I be able to the weight or does it permanently change your metabolism? Now that I am over weight it is not helping with my self image. I do feel I need some medication to help with my anxiety is this a good choice? Are the side effects minimal?

Avatar m tn Hi, Ive have just been prescribed Citalopram today. And im just wondering if anyone else has used these previously?
Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn what effect can you get when stop taking binovum and citalopram as i have been experiencing some side effect and was wondering if its because of the tablets
Avatar f tn i have had depression for 5 years and am treated with citalopram 40mg at times i get such bad anxiety and nausea and dizziness icant really connect it to any depressive episodes though i do feel sick when my nerves are bad also does anyone know how to wean yourself off medication very slowly
1131131 tn?1275108488 Common side effect when starting are nausea and dizziness. High blood pressure, sweating, tremors, shaking are definitely a bad reactions and might also occur with a SNRI. You can try but i think this bad reaction can be avoided with Lyrica or Neurotin but who knows, you could have a bad reaction too but they mechanisms of action are totally different from the SNRIs and SSRIs. Please consider that I'm not a doctor nor a pharmacist and those issues must be discussed with you doctor.
732401 tn?1231613448 I'm 24, since Dec. 14th I've been having lightheadedness and nausea and I've went in to the hospital twice for palpitations and anxiety. I finally saw my primary doctor who told me that its was because my high blood pressure medication 40mg LISINORIL and 25mg HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE was giving me low blood pressure.(I went off my medication late Oct. cause I started working out alot with a trainer and didn't get back on till Dec. 21st.) So I have to cut my meds in half.
769503 tn?1238496321 I'm currently on it. What dosage does the doctor have him at? I've been on and off medications like this since my teens (I'm currently 32) and with every new drug they always tell me the potential side effects. It always threw me into the mode of "why am I taking these??" and started to worry about side effects. I don't know why it took me so long to understand this but the key word is "potential" side effects.
Avatar f tn I'm completely freaking out. I have General Anxiety Disorder and I don't think my medication is working. I've been on Citalopram (20mg) since March but my panic attacks are becoming more frequent, I'm sweating, trembling, my heart is beating super fast, I have really bad nausea, and I'm either sleeping too much or not at all. I'm terrified I'm going to fail my exams because I've been missing so many classes due to these symptoms. Help!
Avatar f tn I am on xanax and citalopram (which I just started) and therapy (which I just started). Three days ago I started feeling worse, medically. I wake up early each morning in a panic with some lose bowel issues and dry heaves or vomiting. The last three days it has been worse!! Yesterday was awful and I was so dizzy, especially during the vomiting. I will feel like I am going to pass out. The ER treated me for dehydration, gave me an EKG and ran some test. All normal, of course.
Avatar n tn Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn i take 800 mg of lithuim, 60mg of citalopram for my dipolar II disorder and 125mg of levothyroxine for my underactive thyrod i seem to have problems with my sex drive i never want it could it be the meds
1139187 tn?1355706647 I have really bad shakes, nausea, and tinnitus (ear ringing) from medication I take for my thyroid. My Dr. gave me some depression medication and told me it may supress the symptoms. It ended up making them worse. He gave me citalopram. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Avatar f tn I tried Celexa for a few months and noticed no difference in my mood/anxiety and did not experience any side effects. But, everyone is different. Almost EVERY medication lists all those side effects, because well everyone reacts differently. In my opinion start out with a smaller dose to see if it bothers you and if it doesnt after a few days you could increase it to the prescribed dose.
1625195 tn?1332178662 ) and this hunger pain and headaches are making this goal really difficult. And the nausea is making day to day tasks harder than the depression was making things. And this is the last round of questions, promise! Its about the Citalopram/Celexa. There is a suit going against Celexa. Since I'm taking the substitute, do I have anything to worry about when it comes to the dangers of taking Celexa? Help would be greatly appreciated!
Avatar m tn Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.
1305597 tn?1275336446 Another medication in its family is venlafaxine (Effexor) and it CAN cause weight gain, and large increases in blood pressure.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.
Avatar m tn In appropriate neurochemical, functional, and behavioural non-clinical experiments, escitalopram shows greater efficacy and faster onset of action than comparable doses of citalopram. The lower efficacy of citalopram in these studies is apparently due to the inhibition of the effect of the S-enantiomer by the R-enantiomer, possibly via an allosteric interaction with the serotonin transporter.
