Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar f tn Ambien or any sleeping pill has memory loss as side effect. Magnesium will help you sleep and you will not need any other sleeping pill. nor any anti depressant pills. You should not depend on those pills forever. People who use alcohol according to the book are also Magnesium deficient. ,, So, Magnesium is your answer. Search Youtube for Magnesium videos..It will amaze you what you will find.

Started again in 1990 and was also put on Citalopram at that time. Have been on both ever since and have been up and down like a yoyo, In 199I 8 I was diagnosed HIV positive, fired again. Put on meds, got lypodysrophy but thatit's a bit better now. Recently left husband, got fired (again), moved country so was pretty shattered and scattered, and angry.

Avatar f tn Hi I switched from Fluoxetine to Citalopram about 6 months ago as the Fluoxetine was making me gain weight. Since I've been on Citalopram I've put on even more, and am now about 2 stone (14kg) heavier than I was before I started. I don't want to come off ADs as they're helping me so much, but at the same time I don't know if I can cope with any more weight gain. Has anyone experienced weight gain with certain antidepressants then been able to lose with a different one?

Avatar f tn Hey I'm 20 and have been on citalopram for a year and a half, I have decided to come off it because of the fatigue it caused which is not good for student life generally, also the loss of interest in sex is not great either. I think I do need to be on antidepressants at the moment. But citalopram wasn't for me. I realise all antidepressants have side effects but I was wondering if any missed out the 2 I mentioned above.
Avatar n tn Hey Roxy, You should see a mental health professional because my mother has bipolar, was never diagnosed and doesn't have treatment and is still disturbed and blames everyone else for her behavior... and I have severe bipolar 1. I used to get really paranoid off of meds and stay in my apartment and hide. I felt really depressed and didn't notice my mania because I felt so good... I thought that it was my normal state. I wanted to deny the mania as anything but good, I lived for it....

Avatar m tn I have been on first 10 mg of Citalopram for 3 months and then 20 mg for 1 month. It was prescribed because I had a serious Cancer surgery, but they got it all. However, during my recovery, 4 family members passed away. i.e. the Rx. But now I do not want to be addicted to this pill, yet my dr. tells me to continue because of the stress I have been thru. I am more afraid of getting off them than continuing taking same.

Avatar n tn Johns Hopkins researchers who have been at the forefront of this field reviewed the evidence on short-term and long-term mental changes after bypass surgery. They found that short-term confusion, memory loss, and poorer problem solving and information processing are common after bypass surgery, but are usually temporary and reversible. Most people return to their pre-bypass level of function between 3 and 12 weeks after surgery.
Avatar f tn But this forgetfulness is too much stressful for me and affecting my work and peace of mind. Even my parents are complaining and blaming me all the time for this. Could this be depression? I have a very demanding and insecure job in NGO sector, which involves on an average 15 days travel per month in different countries. I have a difficult life, with broken marriage and parents with extreme fragile health. I try my best to take care of them and I live with them.
