1282280 tn?1285086420 i was diagnosed with sleep insomnia, ptsd, panic disorder, and major depresive disorder a little over a yr. ago. at first, the dr's just had me on a low dose of zoloft to see if it would help. tho it did help with the depression and a little with the anxiety, i still couldn't sleep. after raising the dose of my zoloft a few more times, and trying seroquil, the dr's finally put me on ambien when i couldn't sleep.
Avatar n tn Once again just as focalin did this made me very sick last night causing the palor and tremor just as focalin had. I experienced twitches and insomnia last night got 2 hours of sleep but and 5 the night before but am awake but i feel terrible. I really need some educated advice on some proper medication choices to talk with my doctor about. I can't focus to any extent without the ADD medication but the side effects i am getttting arn't worth it.

Avatar f tn I was prescribed Citalopram HBR 20 mg and lorazepam 0.5mg for two weeks.. I have never taken any drugs before, and yesterday for the first time I took these medicines. Today when I woke up, I was restless, dizzy and felt like vomiting.. I was so irritable and did not know what to do. I guess I was having anxiety.. The doctor had told me that the meds might show some side effects for a couple of days.. I was ok once I stood under shower, and let myself cool down.
Avatar f tn Had eyes and ears checked, many blood tests and all are clear...have tried anxiety medication also and none were effective. Anyone else also suffering from the same condition?
Avatar n tn I have to interject, I was on Trazadone for 3 yrs, and it's done nothing for Depression. It's actually used most frequently for sleep disorders now like insomnia and mid sleep awakening. I've been on a dose that could stun a horse - and I was still and do still get depressed with that drug in my system. It's great for insomnia btw, because it's not a benzo and not as addicting, so withdrawals aren't as hard.
Avatar f tn what effect can you get when stop taking binovum and citalopram as i have been experiencing some side effect and was wondering if its because of the tablets
Avatar f tn I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

I am dizzy all the time my legs keep me awake at night and my emotions are off the scale right now! i cant afford the medication any more and have none and now i dont know what to do??? Can anyone help me????
Avatar f tn I have been taking the medicine for 25 days now and if anything, my insomnia got worse and anxiety has only slightly decreased. I have a meeting with my doc on Friday and would it be OK for me to ask to be switched to another medicine? I doubt this medicine will start working for me anytimw soon. I used to take Cipram for the same problems but doctor switched to this due to less side effects.

490426 tn?1286262753 Hello, I'm a 28 year old male living in Costa Rica, and have been prescribed Clonazepam alongside Citalopram for quite a while. I'm very concerned about the Clonazepam - if I try to stop taking it abruptly I can't sleep at all and heart beat seems to increase, and my anxiety and worries (be them irrational or rational) become overwhelming and my cognitive capacity decreases terribly. The same happens if I ever stop taking Citalopram.
Avatar m tn I started having panic attacks/anxiety around a month ago after going 20 years without (I'm 47). My doctor (primary) put me on Citalopram (Celexa), and after 3 days I had to stop after suffering every side effect including horrible insomnia. It's been over 2 weeks since stopping the drug, and I still have insomnia. In fact, I feel like I've lost the ability to sleep. My body is tired, but I just can't transition to sleep.
1190847 tn?1287363025 t hallucinate anymore and these symptoms last but three hours at most. I take 20 mg Citalopram (for panic attacks) and 150 mg Bupropion (for depression). Neither properly treats my symptoms. I feel better when I exercise, though. I haven't told my doctor, who prescribed these medications, that I experienced a two-year long psychotic episode. Should I tell him about this, and tell him what the input of my friends was? Should I quit my drugs?
Avatar n tn Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. In the meantime, I would strongly caution you not to drive or operate heavy machinery while on these medications as you might injure yourself or others. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you will suffer withdrawals mine took a few weeks to kick in I came off effexor. But I know my group that Citalopram is not easy to come off you would be better going back on it and weaning off slowly follow cita's withdrawal programme my support group they are on the web.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Let me get this straight. You have a psychiatrist who took you off an antidepressant in just one week? And isn't dealing with the withdrawal problem? The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time. And if your anxiety is related to the heart problem, the beta blocker should theoretically at least have solved that problem.
Avatar m tn In appropriate neurochemical, functional, and behavioural non-clinical experiments, escitalopram shows greater efficacy and faster onset of action than comparable doses of citalopram. The lower efficacy of citalopram in these studies is apparently due to the inhibition of the effect of the S-enantiomer by the R-enantiomer, possibly via an allosteric interaction with the serotonin transporter.
