citalopram and glaucoma

I gained about 30 lbs on Citalopram. I work out and eat healthy. I just saw a new doctor and he believes the Citalopram is causing my weight gain. I have been on it for about 18 months. I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

I entered all of the drugs at once and found no interactions between the Psych meds and the Hep C meds except minor interactions between Citalopram and the Protease Inhibitors. Also a warning about seisure risk with Wellbutrin and Pegasys, but many of us are on those 2 meds and we are fine. They just want it monitored. Of course, because I entered al of them at once, reactions between the psych meds showed up, but you would not taking all of them anyway, just one and the Hep C meds.

I personally often stop the xalatan for a few months after surgery and use another glaucoma drop instead but many doctors don't do that. Basically, if your surgeon is experienced and excellent, the chances of success are very, very high.

There is a form of glaucoma (normal tension glaucoma) that sometimes fools doctors into thinking the glaucoma is under control or not present as the eye pressure seems OK but the vision might still deteriorate. If ever in doubt, you could always get a second opinion with another glaucoma specialist to make sure everything is being done correctly.

Combining Alprax and Citalopram can cause central nervous system and respiratory depressant effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. Please discuss with your doctor for alternate medications. The minimum taper should have been six weeks from my experience. You also should research Buspar. See if you think it actually works much of the time.
