Avatar m tn March of 2016 I noticed a weird sensation in my right testicle, seemed the epididymis tail was sensitive to touch so I went to the doctors. She did STD and testicle ultrasounds testing and all results came back negative, my testicle discomfort was still present. I left it alone to see if it would recover on its own for the next month. I then developed groin, lower abdomen (pubic bone) and back pain while still having testicle aches. Also some discharge.

Avatar n tn How long ago were you treated? Have you told the urologist that you swell a little after ejaculation? Have you been sexually active? The 2 azithromycins sounds like he was treating you for chlamydia, as it isn't a common treatment for epididymitis. How did you take the cipro? Was it twice a day?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with epididymitis for over a month and I don't really know how to put it but I've been having a tingling feeling down in my scrotum. I also have some sort of dull pain on the right side of my lower back and front. Any reason for these?
Avatar m tn Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question. Can you say more about the epididymitis? Detailed symptoms? Urethral discharge? Results of STD testing before taking ciprofloxacin? How about urine testing for non-STD infections? Also tell me more about how quickly the symptoms started to improve after starting cipro. That antibiotic is not recommended for any STD, or for epididymitis from gonorrhea or chlamydia.
Avatar m tn and around 5 days later I had received my results back saying that it is negative for chlamydia which I was excited for but I still had symptoms, the same symptoms I have had for the past month and a half.
Avatar n tn I went to a specialist today after my urine test came clean! He made a physical test and found the source of the pain (honestly idk how but he did find the most painful spot!). He ruled out kidney stones with an ultrasound. He did this exercice where I turn around and cough, then told me it's an epididymitis. He gave me Ciprofloxacin, two 500mg pills every day for 14 days. Pain should go away after 48 hours, but I have to keep up the treatment and go back for a check up after 7 days.
Avatar m tn Dr Smitha Mathews, Two weeks ago I got my second test results back for the gonorrhea and chlamydia, both came out negative again. My testicles were still hurting so I saw a urologist. He did an ultrasound scan on my testicles and said he saw some epididymitis in my right testicle. He took a look at my urine and prescribed ciprofloxacin for 10 days.
Avatar m tn last month i went to see a urologist n im diagnosed having either epididymitis and slight varicocele.. i was given ciprofloxacin tablets and diclofenac tablets for inflammation and antibiotic. according to the ultrasound i have a fluid around my left testicle. i just want to know:- 1) is there any effect of the fluid around the left testicle? im going to have another ultrasound in 3months time as advised from the urologist. 2) sometime i have a hard time getting erection..
Avatar f tn Then i took ciprofloxacin, and the same thing happend. I have given up on antibiotics and to manage this I always drink lots of water, but a few weeks later I started getting testicular pain during urination. Could this be epididymitis?
Avatar m tn First I experienced slow onset of pain in my right testicle that was ultrasound tested and turned out to be orchitis. I took Ciprofloxacin 500 mg 2x day for about a week and that went away. 2 days later the left side started hurting, and I could feel a lump above the testicle. I saw another Dr. and he did a urine test which turned up no UTI and said I had epidymitis and gave me Levofloxacin to go along with Doxycicline that an American Dr. said might help over the phone.
Avatar f tn I have some recurring urological problems (prostatitis/epididymitis) and in the past have been prescribed Cipro. I have an appointment with the urologist coming up and am sure I will need another course of Cipro. I hate taking that stuff. Everytime I take it, I feel extremely tired. It is almost to the point that I can't work. Usually better after a week on the meds. Anybody else have that reaction? I guess it is a necessary evil because the urolological problems always get better.
Avatar m tn I went to see a urologist, who diagnosed me with prostatitis and epididymitis and put me on 500mg Ciprofloxacin for 6 weeks. Follow-up has confirmed that my prostate is now normal again as is the epididymitis. During taking this medicine, the redness on my penis has got worse and is now the corona(?) is very red, and the head looks wrinkled, as if it has been emersed in water for hours. 6 weeks after the incident I had tests for HepB & C, HIV and Syphilis, which were all negative.
Avatar n tn Hi, I used to get hospitalized for epididymitis and got an IV antibiotics when Cipro would usually not get the infections under control. I think that one of them started with Retro. The rest I don't remember. Usually after about a week things started to get better. Later on I used to get orchitis and required hospital stays as well. I used to get it about every 3 or 4 months. After a vasectomy I no longer get it.
Avatar m tn Oral sex has not been known to transmit infections that would lead to epididymitis, except for gonorrhea -- and you are obviously aware of that possibility and have given your own good arguments against it. All that said, I cannot say for sure whether or not you have epididymitis. The altered appearance of your semen is consistent with an infection, but probably not an STD.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the STD forum. I'll try to help. The first issue is whether or not you have epididymitis. You don't really provide enough information for me to judge, but I am skeptical. Testicular pain alone isn't enough for the diagnosis, and pain involving both testicles is virtually never epididymitis -- which generally does not cause groin pain, by the way.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with epididymitis and would like some help and input as to the possibility of STD. Until last weekend, I was monogamous with the same woman for three years and neither of us have/had ever been symptomatic of any STD. Prior to last weekend, I had not had sex for about two months. A couple of months ago, I had some very minor itching at the base of my urethra. No pain or burning or discharge - just a bit of an itch.
Avatar m tn Antibiotics that are specific for the urogenital tract include ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin, and sparfloxacin. Dosages and doses vary basedon the antibiotic you want to start. For example, ciprofloxacin is administered twice daily in 500 mg tablets for 7 days.
Avatar m tn I am in a (supposedly) monogamous relationship since around 2000 and my Dr. is treating me with ciprofloxacin for epididymitis. He told me it can be caused through sexual transmission although he kind of played it down. I went home and started reading about the condition on many sites. In some places it seems to indicate that it is up to 95% caused by an STD..... apparently chlamydia and gonorrhea being most common. There are some other causes..... something about e.
Avatar m tn I work 25 hrs a week while in school FT. Is it possible to have pain for this long after epididymitis, the doctors seem to think I'm making it up and I'm still in pain with no relief. I did let it go on a while before seeking treatment thinking it would eventually go away. I am also trying to avoid taking antibiotics due to another issue. A urine microscopy revealed slightly elevated protein in urine and yeast, which the PCP said was insignificant.
Avatar m tn He told me I had an enlarged prostate then called me a couple of days later stating I had a prostate infection. He prescribed ciprofloxacin hcl 500mg for several weeks and referred me to a urologist. After a few days taking CIPRO the swelling in my testicles started to reduce. Sex became pleasurable again. The urologist treated the enlarged prostate but wasn't interested in treating the swollen testicles . Two years later if I have frequent sex my testicles swell.
