He did an ultrasound scan on my testicles and said he saw some epididymitis in my right testicle. He took a look at my urine and prescribed ciprofloxacin for 10 days. I didn't ask about the culture sensitivity testing or about your recommended 15-20 day minimum treatment duration, and now I regret it since I just took my last pill and my testicles are still hurting, though the ciprofloxacin did seem to help somewhat.

She treated me with 1 cefixime pill and one other pill that I cannot remember while also taking doxycycline 100mg for 10 days twice daily (June 2016 at this point). Once all 10 days of the antibiotics were done I felt better and had no testicle irritation or discomfort for the next 8 months.
My right epididymis gets bigger like pea-shaped 60 seconds after ejaculating then goes away after some time. Is this normal? I went to a urologist and he diagnosed me with epididymitis. Then he gave me 2 azithromycins and 28 ciprofloxacin. I felt nothing at the beginning of the prescription, then in the middle, I felt some pain and discomfort, then the pain went away near the end.
As you are being treated for epididymitis you have to take some rest and antibiotics properly for a week and then you can always exercise and there are many other options of antibiotics and you can change to any other antibiotic as work outs are your passion.
Discuss with your physician to change from Ciprofloxacillin.
Do not lift weight and use proper foot wear, do not aggravate your back problem.

I have been diagnosed with epididymitis for over a month and I don't really know how to put it but I've been having a tingling feeling down in my scrotum. I also have some sort of dull pain on the right side of my lower back and front. Any reason for these?
The buring urination occured a handful of times, once in the day but mainly morning and night for a few days and no discharge whatsoever. The epididymitis symptoms were a very warm left testicle, sore tube behind it and very uncomfortable to sit and generally achy left testicle kind of like toothache. Initially the GP put me on a course of augmentin which i think is a less strong antibiotic.
hi vance, thanks for the reply today is the 5th time i have been to my dr and all he wonts to do is keep given me more tablets, i have been to the uriologist all clear, i thought epididymitis was cause by std ?
I decided to take another test at the clinic because I felt the ciprofloxacin or one of the other medications could have possibly effected the test(I can say that I know this is unlikely because the test searches for DNA and not the organism and if ciprofloxacin still killed it partially(ciprofloxacin isn't effective in killing it the internet says) the DNA would still have been there). The test results came back saying equivocal for chlamydia.
Thanks for the input, Grace. Epididymitis is often caused by strains of chlamydia and gonorrhea, or by coliform bacteria in homosexual men. I posted here because I was curious if anyone knew about fluoroquinolone resistance in C. Trachomatis (levofloxacin vs. ciprofloxacin, bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects), or anything along those lines.
I was also going to suggest epididymitis when I read your post. However, it would not have resulted from your encounter. Epididymitis is typically an infection that happens over time and as a result of not taking care of a previous infeciton in the urinary tract, that moves up to epididymis.
How did your doctor diagnose you? Did he diagnose based on symptoms alone? Maybe it's not even epididymitis if he didn't do a comprehensive exam.
I went to a specialist today after my urine test came clean! He made a physical test and found the source of the pain (honestly idk how but he did find the most painful spot!). He ruled out kidney stones with an ultrasound. He did this exercice where I turn around and cough, then told me it's an epididymitis. He gave me Ciprofloxacin, two 500mg pills every day for 14 days. Pain should go away after 48 hours, but I have to keep up the treatment and go back for a check up after 7 days.
last month i went to see a urologist n im diagnosed having either epididymitis and slight varicocele.. i was given ciprofloxacin tablets and diclofenac tablets for inflammation and antibiotic. according to the ultrasound i have a fluid around my left testicle. i just want to know:-
1) is there any effect of the fluid around the left testicle? im going to have another ultrasound in 3months time as advised from the urologist.
2) sometime i have a hard time getting erection..

I am a 42 year old married white male. I have no history of STDs or other medical problems. Generally, very healthy.
Four and a half months ago I gave oral sex to another woman (not my wife). This included vaginal and anal stimulation. There was no intercourse and she did not perform oral sex on me.
Up until two weeks ago I exhibited no symptoms of anything. Then I began to feel a slight pain in my left testicle. It was not persistent, rather it was uncomfortable on occasion.
I went to see a urologist, who diagnosed me with prostatitis and epididymitis and put me on 500mg Ciprofloxacin for 6 weeks. Follow-up has confirmed that my prostate is now normal again as is the epididymitis. During taking this medicine, the redness on my penis has got worse and is now the corona(?) is very red, and the head looks wrinkled, as if it has been emersed in water for hours. 6 weeks after the incident I had tests for HepB & C, HIV and Syphilis, which were all negative.
Oral sex has not been known to transmit infections that would lead to epididymitis, except for gonorrhea -- and you are obviously aware of that possibility and have given your own good arguments against it.
All that said, I cannot say for sure whether or not you have epididymitis. The altered appearance of your semen is consistent with an infection, but probably not an STD.
Further, sexually acquired epididymitis is not known to be caused by anything other than gonorrhea and chlamydia, so your negative urine test results go a long way in ruling it out. And epididymitis is not known to ever result from oral sex, and the protected vaginal pretty much excludes any possibility of a urethral infection that could trigger it.
I have been diagnosed with epididymitis and would like some help and input as to the possibility of STD.

However I have been married for 21 years now and came down with epididymitis prior to marrying my wife. Prior to that I was not sexually active. After having gotten married I seemed OK for at least 6 years and than in 1994 I started coming down with UTI, kidney infections, epididymitis or orchitis about every 3 to 4 months. I have been suffering from chronic Epididymitis and Balanitis for the last 6 months after unprotected intercourse. He told me I had an enlarged prostate then called me a couple of days later stating I had a prostate infection. He prescribed ciprofloxacin hcl 500mg for several weeks and referred me to a urologist. After a few days taking CIPRO the swelling in my testicles started to reduce. Sex became pleasurable again. The urologist treated the enlarged prostate but wasn't interested in treating the swollen testicles .
Two years later if I have frequent sex my testicles swell.
i went to dr he performed urineanalysis it reveals no infection but 10-12 RBC/HPF he also performed urine culture result will come on saturday he gave me ciprofloxacin and told me to start taking it if burning came yesterday whole day no burning but since night it came back.i am very anxious person
should i start taking cipro as i am having hematuria ?
