My right epididymis gets bigger like pea-shaped 60 seconds after ejaculating then goes away after some time. Is this normal? I went to a urologist and he diagnosed me with epididymitis. Then he gave me 2 azithromycins and 28 ciprofloxacin. I felt nothing at the beginning of the prescription, then in the middle, I felt some pain and discomfort, then the pain went away near the end.

since nov 2010 i have been in and out of hospital 3 times for the same symptoms very painful swollen testecalls each time given ciprofloxacin 500mg tablets,diclofenac sodium 50mg, for six weeks also told to go to st marys hosp to be checked for std have done so and am please to say all clear. been back to my dr for follow on check only to be given more diclofenac to take for another six weeks WHY?.
Developed a couple of instances of burning urine which foolishly ignored and later diagnosed with epididymitis by my GP after aching left testicle. Was presc Cipro for 11 days - 500mg twice daily. During cipro treatment i had an STD test done - swab, bloods and urine sample, all negative. I also waited approx 3 weeks after finishing cipro to be retested and again negative results.
After about 3 days, my symptoms changed from originally having a completely itchy urethra to no more itching but a random irritation in my urethra(the exact place is the portion of the navicular fossa furthest from the urethral opening) within 5 minutes after urination and if I squeeze it, it hurts. Also I developed a heavy burn in my left testicle which I was told by my doctor is epididymitis.
I went to a Urologist who said he believes it could possibly be epididymitis because my right testical was slightly swollen...but he was unsure. He perscribed me a month long dosage of Levaquin... My question to him was(which he really didn't answer).... If both tests came back negative for Clahmydia(along with other common STI's) is it ok for me to be sexually active unprotected(reasons I don't want to get in to) with my partner??
I was also going to suggest epididymitis when I read your post. However, it would not have resulted from your encounter. Epididymitis is typically an infection that happens over time and as a result of not taking care of a previous infeciton in the urinary tract, that moves up to epididymis.
How did your doctor diagnose you? Did he diagnose based on symptoms alone? Maybe it's not even epididymitis if he didn't do a comprehensive exam.
I went to a specialist today after my urine test came clean! He made a physical test and found the source of the pain (honestly idk how but he did find the most painful spot!). He ruled out kidney stones with an ultrasound. He did this exercice where I turn around and cough, then told me it's an epididymitis. He gave me Ciprofloxacin, two 500mg pills every day for 14 days. Pain should go away after 48 hours, but I have to keep up the treatment and go back for a check up after 7 days.

As you have balanitis concurrent with your symptoms of sore testcles, it is possible that the infection has spread to cause epididymitis. This is an inflammation of the epididymis and can be a result of infection or inflammation.
Unaccustomed sexual activity can cause soreness in the lower abdominal and pelvic muscles, but is rare in the testes and scrotum.
last month i went to see a urologist n im diagnosed having either epididymitis and slight varicocele.. i was given ciprofloxacin tablets and diclofenac tablets for inflammation and antibiotic. according to the ultrasound i have a fluid around my left testicle. i just want to know:-
1) is there any effect of the fluid around the left testicle? im going to have another ultrasound in 3months time as advised from the urologist.
2) sometime i have a hard time getting erection..
Then i took ciprofloxacin, and the same thing happend. I have given up on antibiotics and to manage this I always drink lots of water, but a few weeks later I started getting testicular pain during urination. Could this be epididymitis?
It is not possible your testicular pain or epididymitis -- if indeed you have epididymitis -- to have come from the sexual exposure you describe. In addition, asymptomatic gonorrhea probably does not lead to epididymitis, and in any case 4+ months definitely is against any connection with the oral sex event.
Second, epididymitis generally does not cause the rather mild sort of testicular discomfort you describe.
I have some recurring urological problems (prostatitis/epididymitis) and in the past have been prescribed Cipro. I have an appointment with the urologist coming up and am sure I will need another course of Cipro. I hate taking that stuff. Everytime I take it, I feel extremely tired. It is almost to the point that I can't work. Usually better after a week on the meds. Anybody else have that reaction? I guess it is a necessary evil because the urolological problems always get better.
I have been to the doctor and they have referred me to a urologist but this is a month away. I have been on ciprofloxacin but this hasnt helped.
I am worried that any infection i have had before and what ever this is may make me infertile. Do you have any idea what this could be as the pain is getting me down and i'm fed up.
I went to see a urologist, who diagnosed me with prostatitis and epididymitis and put me on 500mg Ciprofloxacin for 6 weeks. Follow-up has confirmed that my prostate is now normal again as is the epididymitis. During taking this medicine, the redness on my penis has got worse and is now the corona(?) is very red, and the head looks wrinkled, as if it has been emersed in water for hours. 6 weeks after the incident I had tests for HepB & C, HIV and Syphilis, which were all negative.

I described the symptoms to my Doctor, and she prescribed doxy. I also requested a culture swab for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The first issue is whether or not you have epididymitis. You don't really provide enough information for me to judge, but I am skeptical. Testicular pain alone isn't enough for the diagnosis, and pain involving both testicles is virtually never epididymitis -- which generally does not cause groin pain, by the way.
I have been diagnosed with epididymitis and would like some help and input as to the possibility of STD.
Until last weekend, I was monogamous with the same woman for three years and neither of us have/had ever been symptomatic of any STD. Prior to last weekend, I had not had sex for about two months.
A couple of months ago, I had some very minor itching at the base of my urethra. No pain or burning or discharge - just a bit of an itch.
I am in a (supposedly) monogamous relationship since around 2000 and my Dr. is treating me with ciprofloxacin for epididymitis. He told me it can be caused through sexual transmission although he kind of played it down.
I went home and started reading about the condition on many sites. In some places it seems to indicate that it is up to 95% caused by an STD..... apparently chlamydia and gonorrhea being most common. There are some other causes..... something about e.
Has anyone else here had epididymitis? After I finished the course of a strong antibiotic, I still have pain. Went to the urologist and he said it was basically tough and it may last a few months until it goes away. I think he was pretty rude.

He told me I had an enlarged prostate then called me a couple of days later stating I had a prostate infection. He prescribed ciprofloxacin hcl 500mg for several weeks and referred me to a urologist. After a few days taking CIPRO the swelling in my testicles started to reduce. Sex became pleasurable again. The urologist treated the enlarged prostate but wasn't interested in treating the swollen testicles .
Two years later if I have frequent sex my testicles swell.
i went to dr he performed urineanalysis it reveals no infection but 10-12 RBC/HPF he also performed urine culture result will come on saturday he gave me ciprofloxacin and told me to start taking it if burning came yesterday whole day no burning but since night it came back.i am very anxious person
should i start taking cipro as i am having hematuria ?
Two days later still had soft erection and started to feel pain in my left testicle, i still ignored it thought it would go away, it didnt so jan5th i went to the doctor he said i had epididymo orchitis and gave me ten days of ciprofloxacin 500 and diclo and scrotal support, i took cipro for 15days thought i should do a 2 week course instead of 10 days. Plus i had an ceftriaxone 1g iv and 500 azithromycin just in case which the doctor didnt prescribe.
