I have been diagnosed with Prostitiis with the culture coming back showing Enterococcus. My doctor told me it was very serious and said the best treatment for this germ is Amoxicillin. I am taking 2000mg Amoxicillin a day for 30 days. Eight months ago I was diagnosed with the same disease with the exception it was an E-Coli germ My doctor seemed very upset that this type of disease returned after only 8 months. What do you think is the cause of this reoccurence.
Yep, some can. Amoxicillin can cause a positive for cocaine, Quinolones (like Cipro) can cause a positive for amitriptyline and opiates, A couple other less common antibiotic classes can cause positives too. Did this happen to you?
He put me on Cipro for 1 week. After the Cipro was finished, the burning in the urethra had stop but a slight pain in my prostate was still there at nights for a while. About a week ago (3weeks after i finished the cipro) i realize that the pain in my prostate felt as if it was gone but now i feel the burning in my urethra and penis returning again as it did before. I am convince that I must have contracted some sort of virus or bacterial infection or STD from my sexual encounter.
Longstory short, I demanded that they performed a sperm culture and voila, positive for e coli resistant to cipro (probably thats why levo didnt work), bactrim and amoxicillin. However it was sensible to amoxicillin clavulanic, fosfomycine, nitrofurantoin and imipenem. So the doctor choice was amox clav 4 weeks and 1 dose of fosfomycice 3 g every week.
My question is: if my ecoli is resistant to amox but sensible amox clav is it the best choice?
t seem to have problems with doxycycline, amoxicillin or clindamycin. Clindamycin destroys my stomach though. I avoid cipro and zithromax.
Tried various antibiotics like cipro ,azthromycin, roxithromycin, clarithromycin, amoxicillin, and lot more. . . But no effect. . .even tried homeopathic medicine but no effect. . . .have anyone faced this situation??
My 7y girl has had uti for three years and has several types of antibiotics last one was amoxicillin/clavulanic acid,57mg. She now has Pseudomonas and doctor wants to give her cipro. think I should handle this differantly?
The main 2 antibiotics dentists like in the US are Amoxicillin and Clindamycin. However, if Cipro has worked for you in the past, there is no reason your dentist can't prescribe that for you instead (other than drug interactions if you are taking other meds). Talk to your dentist about it. Clindamycin is a great antibiotic, but its usually better for more severe infections and it does tend to cause a lot of GI problems. Azithromycin is also good if Clindamycin makes you that sick.
I have epididymitis just got it ans it makes me very depressed i have amoxicillin but i just got cipro so should i stop amoxcillin and start the cipro i dnt want to mess my body up any help plz
I was taking amoxicillin for tooth problem. On the second day I started having full bladder with difficulty to urinate and clear discharge symptoms. The Dr. told me since I was on antibiotic I could'nt take a urine test. He asked me to finish the 7 day amoxicillin and after gave me 1g zithro and cipro for 14 days. On the 14 day I still have a few symptoms. My question is if it was chlamydia - gonorrhea would this have cured it? Please advise..
Hi J..may I ask what they gave you augmentin for ? If it was for the winter upper resporitory crap that was going around then maybe it wasn't strong enough. Augmentin is a pretty broad spectrum anti. Maybe ask for Zpack (zithromycin).
The trouble with antibiotics are doctors over prescribe this crap and becomes ineffective as the bugs become resistant.

She has already increased her cranberry juice and water intake to help slow the spread of the infection, but I was wondering what antibiotic (of either amoxicillin 250mg or ciproxin 500mg) might a doctor hypothetically prescribe if she were to go see one? So on the 19th, My wife was in a world of pain and really swollenafter 5 days of antibiotics. She’d taken amoxicillin and clindamycin and neither helped. She went to the surgeon and he did an I&D and extracted the tooth. He switched her to augmentin. By Monday the pain was worse, she couldn’t swallow, the cheek was bigger and she’d developed cellulitis so we went to the ED. They admitted her and on Tuesday they did another I&D and extracted 2 more teeth. They put a drain in as well.

About sealing the crown. The filling was temporary on Friday and on Monday. I'm not sure why he didn't finalize it Monday. He opened it back up and cleaned it out again and tried to get it to drain but it wouldn't. When you say leave it open, you don't mean the actual canal do you?

I MAY BE OLD, ENGLISH AND LONG RETIRED AS A DENTAL SURGEON (B.D.S. FROM ONE OF THE TOP UK MEDICAL UNIVERSITIES) BUT I CAN SEE NO LOGICAL REASON WHY A SIMPLE SINGLE LARGE DOSE OF PROPHYLACTIC ANTIBIOTIC (USUALLY AMOXICILLIN FAMILY) IF THE PATIENT CANNOT GIVE A FULL PREVIOUS MEDICAL HISTORY.
Ask your pharmacist if Amoxicillin interacts with any other meds you are taking. I personally have not had a problem with the antibiotic itself.
The most important thing is to ask your dentist for a painkiller without epinephrine. It can cause a rapid heartbeat and bring on an Afib episode. I am taking Norpace for Afib and it cannot be taken with Ethromycin, (or according to my pharmacist, any of the "mycins,") or Biaxin according to one of the messages on this board.
