Cipro for std

Common Questions and Answers about Cipro for std

cipro

Avatar m tn Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
Avatar f tn Perhaps this is not the right venue, as I'm certain I don't have an STD because there was no encounter. However, I am showing signs of urethritis. I won't get into specifics, but likely due to introducing old masturbation toys. Cipro is not recommended, I believe due to it's ineffectiveness against other STD's. If the NGU is not from and STD, would the drug be effective?
Avatar f tn A few days later I started to have a tingling sensation, like I had to pee, so I went to an urgent care and they gave me Cipro for prostatitis. I had an STD screen three days into my Cipro cycle and it came back negative. I completed the 10 day cycle of Cipro, had a 7 day cycle of Doxocycline due to symptoms persisting, and then had another test done 4 days after the completion of Doxocycline. All tests were negative. I am currently back on Cipro after seeing a urologist.
Avatar n tn Ok about a week ago I had a sinus infection. For two days i took some Keflex twice a day that I had left over. It wasnt helping , I found a bottle of cipro I had left over and I took one. Thats it. A few days ago my boyfriend starts having symptoms of chlamydia or gonnerea ureathra hurting, discharge etc. I have no symptoms. We have only slept together once in the last couple weeks. Anyways, I went and got tested and I have bacterial vaginosis. I have not been with anybody but him.
Avatar m tn I am having a swab test done on Monday for gonerrehea, clamydia, and trich, also a blood test for syphilis, and HIV I mentioned to the doctor that on Monday 23 rd july when they take blood test that it will only be 11 weeks since my protected sex with prostitute,I had to virtually beg for him to test me for STD,s I copied information of internet regarding STD´s and he threw the paper down on the table.
Avatar f tn My right part of urethra feels tender per GYN. The swab for STD/STI were negative. However, my urine came back positive for E.Coli. So I was prescribed Cipro, but I had an allergic reaction to it. So now I am on Keflex 4x a day for 7 days. Today is 2nd day, I still feel the pain. I am thinking that my bacteria is now resistant to antibiotics after taking so many. Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be a kidney stone lodge in the right part of my urethra?
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your response. The doctor gave me the Cipro for the history of the prostititus. I didn't mention this. Would you suggest I waste time with testing?
Avatar m tn Was diagnosed with acute prostatitis. Took cipro for 3 weeks. Just before cipro ended I ejaculated and it burned. Symptoms have subsided with heavy hydration, but the occassional irritation is still there and so is my swollen prostate? I'm also affraid to ejaculate as that may kick start the symptoms I'm failry convinced this is not an STD, but would like your input.
Avatar m tn this isn't a std related issue. follow up with your doctor for further evaluation of your symptoms.
Avatar n tn What are the chances I picked up an STD and if the symptoms are gone do i stil need to worry? Thank you in advance for your answer. No matter what happens I have learned my lesson about having any kind of sex with strangers...
Avatar n tn Only 12 days off of the antibiotics, and I decided to get tested for a STD as the symptoms of painful urination and an itch in my penis worsened and became much more bothersome. Now I'm wondering, could this strep throat really have been gonorrhea or another STD. If that was the case, would the antibiotics in my system hide the fact that I have gonorrhea or chlamydia when I got my tests a couple of days ago? I should add, I had been seeing this girl for about a month.
Avatar m tn Now 5-6 days into medication cipro seems to be helping a bit. I tried masturbation today to test the waters and now I feel worse. I really don't feel it as much the moment I wake up in the morning and it seems to be more noticeable as day progresses. My Questions: 1. Since this was a high risk encounter, should I be retested for above STDs? 2. Does this sound like Prostatitis? Or what could it be? 2a. I heard prostatitis is hard to cure is that true?
Avatar n tn I understand that ceftriaxone is protocol for oral gonorrhea but is it possible that 2g azithromycin or 400mg suprax could also work? Also, would that with cipro or doxy work for treating urethral gonorrhea? Why is there a difference? Also, I have heard that left untreated, oral gonorrhea may go away on its own. Is that true. Thank you for your responses.
Avatar m tn However, because of the UTI symptoms I was experiencing I had been taking Cipro for a few days before the test. My test was on a Wednesday; from the Sunday to the Tuesday before the test I had taken five tables of Cipro 500mg, with none on Tuesday evening or at all on Wednesday. It had been 24 hours since I had last taken the antibiotic when I gave my urine sample. Given the amount of Cipro I took, the timing, and the nature of the test, can I rely on my negative result?
Avatar m tn Again, prescribed cipro 500mg 2x for 7 days. 10 days after cipro ended, I did have a set of std tests done. (We did have sex during the cipro cycle multiple times). All came back negative. Would the cipro have caused a negative? Or would the dead cells of potential chalmydia still have shown up (urine test). Should I get retested? What else could this be?
Avatar m tn ) Parts of your experience however did, apparently involve some trauma. As such this may be a partial explanation for your rectal symptoms. As for your cloudy urine, if I understand your exposures correctly, you are not at risk for genito-urinary STDs and need not worry. If these symptoms persist you may wish to discuss them with your doctor, looking for other causes.
Avatar m tn I finally worked up the courage to go for an std test and guess what? Chlamydia. I also have been having strange yellow feces and the pain is intense at points.
Avatar f tn Since i had antibiotics in my system, the urine test came back negative for a uti. So the doctor gave me cipro to take for 7 days and told me she was going to send my urine off for culture. Well i have been on the cipro now for 3 days and it still hurts everytime i urinate. I'm really confused because i don't understand what else this could be. I have thought about STD's, but i am married and am monogamous on my part.
Avatar n tn If you are looking to self medicate, don't. It can cause more worry and harm then good. If you think you have a STD then get tested and let a Dr give you the correct medication.
Avatar m tn After a urine test showed traces of blood/bacteria in my urine, I was given 10 days of Cipro for a bladder infection. After 5 days on Cipro, my arms and legs broke out with non-itchy red dots (doc gave me steroids to get rid of the spots and told me to finish all of the Cipro). By this time (5 days on Cipro), the painful symptoms seemed to be gone.
