I was recently diagnosed with a uti and have been on cipro since Saturday. On Sunday night I started having a throbbing lower back pain which made it difficult to sleep. Monday morning my back felt better, but then it started again Monday evening. Felt much better Tuesday morning and felt like the uti was clearing up too. Even felt good enough to go to my exercise class. After the class the throbbing began again and it was pretty concentrated in my lower right side.
i bought an over the counter urinary tract infection tester and it game back negative for leukocites and slightly positive (very slightly) for nitrites. i had some 500 mg cipro from a respiratory infection that i had last winter. i called my pharmacist and she said that cipro is used for urinary infections. she said the dose is often 2 pills twice daily for 3 days. i have just enough so i started taking them and my frequent urination stopped after the second pill.
The next time I urinated it had specs of blood in the toilet. My Dr. called in Cipro 500mg for 7 days (still no urine culture). The day I started the Cipro I never saw blood in my urine again but still had the sensation as though my bladder was not completley empty and my urethra had the same sensation as though I needed to urinate. I had one day of left of the Cipro and I started urinating every 5 mins for about 2 hours. I went to sleep and was fine.
A month ago, I was admitted to the hospital for Acute Pyelonephritis. For 6 days, they pumped approximately 40 bags of IV antibiotics, fluids, and minerals (potassium, magnesium, etc.) into me. When discharged, I continued another 2 weeks of Cipro and 2 rounds of Fluconazole for yeast infection. Since ending the last round of pills 5 days ago, my bowel movements have begun to return to normal after having antibiotic-induced diarrhea for a month.
On Friday I was having sharp intermittent aching pain in my right back where my kidney was located. My back in that area was tender to the touch. That evening I went to an urgent care facility and gave a urine sample. The doctor said the sample was too diluted and asked me to bring another sample in the next morning. Saturday morning (at home) I urinated into a cup that was given to me and then three hours later took the sample to the facility.
i have lupus, multiple ureters on one side and history of reoccurring pyelonephritis. i have been have uti symtoms for a few weeks took entire prescription of macrobid and started feeling slightly better but only for a couple days. i have a lot of flank and abdominal pain. i have been taking cranberry capsules and drinking water. i took 2 home uti test and both showed positive for leukocytes.
Hi, in July of last year I had my first ever UTI, it got so bad it was later confirmed in hospital that I had Pyelonephritis, I was very ill due to this infectiion. There was a collection of pus around my right kidney, i was given alot of anti biotics, had allergic reactions to scans etc... Since then I have had smaller infections but nothing as bad as last time.
S which should have been done the night I was in the ER, diagnosed me for a UTI even though all of the s/sx I had pointed to pyelonephritis, not a stinkin uncomplicated UTI, and are now giving me medicine used for pyelonephritis, which they have not diagnosed me with. The dkctor that prescribed the Keflex isn't my normal doctor and didn't talk to me AT ALL about the risks it could have on my baby. I am 6 and a half months.
Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Please help... For the past 24hrs I've had a fever w chills and for the last 12 it feels like both kidneys r being kicked. I think I let a uti go for too long and it traveled to my kidneys. What r uti's caused by also. I haven't had any burning, but urgency to go for a few days now.
That liquid like ball is edema and depending on how large it is and that it is on the throat, a drain my be necessary. As for the Cipro....there are some very serious risk factors. If your pet has any of the MANY risk factors, giving Cipro can be deadly to your dog. If your pet is under 2 years old (assuming by the weight he is a medium or large breed)....do NOT under any circumstance give Cipro.
Please please take your dog to the vet so he is properly treated in a safe and humane way.

Hey Community, thank you for sharing. I need your help in assessing if I have been misdiagnosed or under-diagnosed and if I should get checked for something else causing CKD(chronic kidney disease). Because of bilateral symmetrical involvement of kidneys, and prompt treatment of Acute Pyelonephritis that has not led to good recovery in kidney health, my general physician thinks there could be something else causing this, or some other advanced treatment that could be more effective.
Any body can ans what kind of side effects that has cipro to use for long time......
Saw my doctor because terrible irritation in penis tip, sore testicles and having to urinate all night. No burning when I pee or discharge but significant pain at tip. Doctor did first catch urine test; neg for leuk & nitrates, said it could be prostatis so he gave me 7 days of Cipro. Had a minor surgery a few days later so did not take it. The next week it got even worse, so went to urologist. Same symptoms but worse. Dr. asked if it could be std, I told him I doubt it...
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.
From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months.
I took 1 dose of 500mg Cipro Friday night at 5:30p.m. Immediately felt flushed and red in the face.
I continue to have flare ups 3 days later. How long does this take to go away.
No symptoms at all. The cipro and biaxin were not for stds, they were for a sinus infection. No pain, no discharge. I did get a yeast infection from the antibiotics, and wondered if that could have managed it's way to my urinary tract...but no burning, nothing like that. All of this seemed to be triggered from my masturbating without and ejaculation over the weekend...
After bloodwork to check kidney function, Vet started her on antibiotic to treat her for suspected Chronic Pyelonephritis, to continue for 6 weeks. She had a fever over 106 on day of exam. She is responding well to antibiotic, hind end weakness improved somewhat. However, she is eating far less, and continues to lose weight (< 7.5 lbs.). Uses litter box, but still urinating frequently and drinks fair amount of water.
