I'm a 26yo male and for the past year or so I've noticed that after urination these is a little bit of dripping. It wasn't too big a deal at the time but now the problem seems worse and I also have an urge to urinate sometimes 5-10 minutes after urination. The urge is worse when I'm sitting down, and usually if I get up and walk around I feel better. I went to the doctor about a week ago and had some blood work done. All of the results for STDs, and a UTI came back negative.
I'm a 22 y.o F and so far in my life I have never had any real serious issues with my health, I'm a very healthy young adult. I have had a monogamous relationship with one boyfriend for nearly a decade now and he has no problems. However, at the end of April I got what I thought was a UTI and went as I normally would to see my Gynecologist for a test and antibiotics. She ruled out any reproductive infections and my urinalysis came back negative but she gave me Cipro to treat it anyway.
Can Herpetic Urethritis exist without external sores and penile discharge? If burning is felt during urination, without discharge and external sores, can HSV cause this?
My doctor felt that the discomfort was due to the gardenerella and not from the oral sex and prescrived Flagyl, which did not help. Susequently, he prescribed Bactrim DS, and then Cipro. The symptoms persisted. During his follow up exam he felt that there was nothing clinically wrong and that the symptoms would resolve on their own over time. Since he didn't want to do any testing, I insisted on taking Suprax & Zithromax to be sure there were no STDs.
9 days after exposure went to University clinic and explained situation and my fears. I had not had very many symptoms on the Cipro but was extremely stressed/anxious. Told to calm down and test anyway (although on antibiotics) Gon./Chlamydia test negative.
3. 15 days after possible exposure: I had been having terrible pain/discomfort symptoms with no discharge that kept me up all night. Called clinic again and told them suspected some form of urethritis.
In that case, to my understanding the only remaining option is urethritis, and given that it is responding the cipro and therefore is probably bacterial (?) then how could the urine cultures be coming back negative....?
I must say that I am confused.
Not sure that I understand your last remark, I didn't have any exposure that I regret, and I am certainly not imagining the burning sensation and pain that I am experiencing, nor the significant improvement when I take cipro.
I was given urine tests, after the initial doses of Doxy and Cipro. Didn't hear anything more so I assumed they were negative.
In the meatal area there was a clear but not discharging secretions. I self treated with 1 gram of Cipro and 1 gram of Azithromycin, followed by 250mg per day of Azithromycin for 2 days. However, symptoms of pharyngitis & urethritis continued. I went to my doctor about a week after having taken the Azithromycin & Cipro.
s that the US in unaware of these infections, just that for some bizarre reason they never test for them, even when there are mountains of evidence which indicate them as causes of urethritis. Then they stick their head in the sand and give out trashcan diagnosis of "prostatitis" or a recurrent UTI.
The doctor who gave you cipro for gonorrhea was mistaken, this drug is not longer a good treatment for gonorrhea due to drug resistance.
Around 7 weeks post exposure, the symptoms seemd to come back - mainly a painful sensation in the tip of my penis and the anal itching - and I visited my local PP clinic. I was again tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia as well as given the oral test for HIV and a herpes blood test. At the time I was also given a 7 day regime of doxycycline. All the tests again came back negative. The pain in the tip of my penis comes and goes as does the anal itching. Do I need more testing?
went to get chlamydia/gonorhea tested and started doxy on Monday afternoob...both came back negative so doc told me to stop and go on CIpro 500 mg 2x p/d for 2 days (stopped doxy) which i started thursday morning. Today also took a one time Zpack of 1.5.G
still really hurts to urinate...penis still looks red and feel like crap / stressed, now feel getting cold sore....shouldn't i feel better by now?
I looked up ureaplasma and mycoplasma as common causes of urethritis and prostatitis, but the doctor told me that cipro would have killed those bacterias, especially 34 days of cipro. I tried looking it up on the internet but I cant find anything that says cipro is used to treat ureaplasma and mycoplasma.
What else can I do? I am tired of going to all these doctors and nobody being able to tell me what i have. Is there a test that i should take?

It's been a year and a half since my exposure, which involved a insertive oral, the girl had bloody mouth. I've had dysuria, urethritis for a year and a half. Had taken levaquin, cipro, doxycycline, azythromycin, and cef. None worked. Could I have gotten genito-urinary tuberculosis, or tuberculosis urethritis from a bloody blowjob?
I have been taking 500 mg cipro twice a day assuming it was urethritis or uti. While i am a bit better i am still not 100% normal after 3 days on cipro. Do i need to look at something like gono or chlamydia? I was sure it was not an std because even my oral was protected. No discharge yet. Pls help.
new diagnosis - prostatitis. Doc gave me cipro and doxy 8 days with no result. Bactrim for 10 days, no result. As I live in Africa, I went to Portugal to get a second opinion, and the doctor gave me levo for 20 days; no result. Afterwards tried another uru, and he told it was all about the food I was I taking, had a huge diet lost 7 kilos, no result.
Then in May it was back with a vengenance. He then thought UTI, and prescribed Cipro, with minimal results. I went back in and now Dr. says it's Urethritis. I took a 1 day 1000mg of zithro and have 4 more days of 100 2x day of doxy to take, but I still have slight burning. Is this normal and when will I be able to pee without feeling pain??? Do I need something stronger? Have I had this going on the whole time and maybe was not treating it correctly way back in February?
I went to a Urologist and he sent my urine off for culture and started be on Cipro. I did not have any relief and the culture did not grow anything out. He said the infection is more than likely in my urethra. He mentioned ureaplasma. I am currently taking 7 days of doxycycline 100mg twice a day. I finish tomorrow. My symptoms have improved a lot but I do not feel cured. I am worried. Could this be something else? I'm worried because I've had the symptoms so long.
well i got all this symptoms after a sexual encounter so i believe a std gave me the urethritis and i took so many antibiotics, oflo, azythro, cipro, and my last one was doxy. all for 7days.. so im wondering if 3 weeks of doxy would make a difference? because last time i took a week of doxy, i felt better but i think it course was too short and symptoms returned. im certainly seeing improvement now and im on my 7th day.. if this fails he told me il have to take 3 months of antibiotic.
I ended up getting treated for urethritis and for two weeks I took cipro but that failed against the urethritis so I took amox clav and it worked but I passed it on to my girlfriend after he cipro didn’t work before I went on amox clav. So we both got treated with doxycycline and I just finished mine 4 days ago. We have not had sex yet and I had a rash on begin to form under my penis head and on the shaft of my penis.
3 weeks ago I found a prostitute online. She was fingering/touching herself, and I was touching her as well. Then she played herself again, then gave me a handjob to completion. Also had a UTI(blood in the urine) in late June (11 weeks after) and my doctor prescribed CIPRO and it was cleared in a week. Other than these, I did not have any fever,sore throat, penile sore and penile discharge but always feel lightheaded, fatigue, and weakness in the arms and legs.
I have not done any testing so far.
My questions:
1)What is my chance of catching anything including STDs and HIV during this few seconds of oral sex? I have read that it is no risk.
Every test indicated there was blood in my urine and positive nitrates and we proceeded with normal UTI treatment (btw I visited a doctor 7 days after initial contact). I was on 10 days of cipro, did not really feel a difference. today is day 36 on cipro and I think I am going to stop taking the rest. Burning has gone down, but urethra feels off. Today marks 6 weeks after having sex with this person.
Yep exactly, feels like there is pee stuck in there or something solid.
im a male and the urologist prescribed me cipro... he did not perform any tests for trich b/c i had previously had chlamydia months ago but was treated of that and retested and cleared of the chlamydia... though my urethra pain persisted... i was just wondering if i need to go back to the doctor to get this flagyl or if the cipro that i just was prescribed will wipe it out...i don't have insurance and it costs me a lot each time i visit the doctor.
