I've broken out in a terrible rash from being out in the sun while taking the antibiotic Cipro. My pharmasist might have warned me, maybe I wasnt paying attention. It's been three weeks since I've been off Cipro but the rash is still with me. I work in the food service industry and I deal with the public. I dont want to freak anybody out, and long sleves are out of the question. I've been using Vaseline intensive care for a week but it only helps with the flakiness. Help please??
This time I noticed again after 30 minutes the sensation were strong and the itch burning. I have stopped taking cipro for 2 days now and the skin has stopped itching but is still blotchy and flaking (not quite peeling). I've never had anything like this before and I can surely attribute it to the drug. I don't think I've ever had a reaction to it before but I do recall taking it once before, for a urinary tract infection.
After just taking if for a couple of dosages I broke out in a SEVERE rash and huge whelps on my legs (look like I was beaten with a belt). I went back to the doctor the next day because the pain was so severe and she put me on a different med. This rash and whelps continued for a full week with severe pain.
After this I went to my Primary care doctor and told him what is happening, he checked my prostate (nothing hurt back there when he poked) and ordered a full panel of blood work to cover all STDs under the sun and anything else. They let me know they came back fine. At this point, no STDs.no nothing.
I have read horror stories about doxy and being out in the sun and I sometimes have to be out in the sun so I am reluctant to start the doxy. Right now I am on cipro and still feel that feeling now and then. I am like wes in which I will feel good for a few days and then suddenly feel that fullness, as well as some tingle on the penis.
Hi and sorry you got the run around. You can carry C. difficile and if you don't have symptoms and since you don't have the toxin B then you don't need treatment. So, if you don't have symptoms you don't need the antibiotic. If you want to finish the course of metronidazole for the parasite you can even though they didn't find one. Sometimes it takes several specimens to find one. Do you have diarrhea? If so, how often do you have diarrhea per day? Or are you over it?
After a day or so of Cipro, my testicle pain was gone and I stopped taking the antibiotics because of the adverse reactions I was having. About 3 days after stopping the medication the pain returned. It is now 6/12/09 and by recommendation of my doctor, I am taking the Cipro again. I told her I was concerned about the severe effects of Cipro, and asked if there were any other drugs that could be used.
I have taken it for the first time the past three days and the infection is still quite apparent especially during the night when I can feel the internal discomfort. Normally with the use of Cipro I would be on the mend by the end of 3 days. Is there any merit in taking both meds or should I or even can I just switch back to Cipro mid treatment.
Marien Hospital in Cologne who confirmed the diagnosis and prescribed 200mg of doxycycline per day for 10 days. At the end of the 2nd day, I developed a full body rash. Smallish, flattish red bumps almost connected. I was in the sun that day with 50 sunscreen, fully covered skin and hat. We will be in the port of Miltenberg, Germany at 2 pm for 4 hours. Tomorrow I will be in Wertheim. What should I do?
Again I thought i had something else never thought of the cipro. Its been 2 months all of my tests are negative and the only thing i have done different is the cipro. You think this will go away in month or so. My DR. now has given me allegra 180 mg 1 daily its seems to help some but hasnt gone away completly. any thoughts? Thank you.
is it safe to take 125 mg of cipro each day for 6 months I was prescribed this for a UTI that keeps coming back. Also the pharmacy that filled the prescription gave me 250mg tablets and told me they aren't made in 125mg. and for me to break in half . But the info that comes with the meds says not to break.crush, or chew.
Be careful with using Cipro and other antibiotics and use it only as directed by your Physician. I was misdiagnoised with a urinary tract infection that time showed it wasn't and was prescribed Cipro. This drug and others in its class have a nasty side effect - mine was labral tears of the right shoulder and right hip.

Im traveling in mexico and got pretty sick (my best guess is it was 'Travelers Diarrhea' or maybe food poisioning) I went to the pharmacy and got 500mg Cipro pills. I took one and got a horrible headache and vomitted alot. My symptoms seem to be gone however would it be a bad idea to stop taking the Cipro? I know people say you should always finish a course of antibiotics but in this case I dont know if I need them.
t say that Cipro affected my PVCs, but that might have been because I was distracted by the painful tendinitis it gave me. Cipro is one of the fluoroquinolone antibiotics, and while they have their uses, they are associated with tendon inflammation and rupture in a certain percentage of patients. I am one of those.
I have had a very very similar experience except without sucking (just a condom covered toy in my bum) and have had severe pain in my *** for about 4 months (started a few days after the toy) I then had every test under the sun including a colonoscopy and everything was clear. I finally worked up the courage to go for an std test and guess what? Chlamydia. I also have been having strange yellow feces and the pain is intense at points.
I had to take 20 days of Cipro for prostate infection. The e coli count was > 100,000. It took 4 or 5 day to take the temperature down and then it was a matter of getting through the 20 days. Right after I got off of Cipro (~2days) I was feeling constipated, A week after (yesterday) I realized my spleen was swollen (first time ever). Wife is a nurse and new where it was located.
Please be very careful with Cipro. Look up all the side effects of this on the computer ASAP. I was on cipro 250mg for one month then doctor raised it to 500mg. I no sooner took the larger dose than I started to jerk in sleep and had problems with numbness/tingling in both arms from elbow to finger tips. Shook like i had parkinsons.
I will NEVER take cipro again!
