I sometimes think doctors don't tell you the real percentage of weight gain with a drug.
I was on cipralex for years and it didn't matter how much I worked out, weight loss was minimal. On a high carb diet and no excercise, I gained 40 or so lbs.
Everytime I go off of cipralex I lose weight. I don't care what they say, cipralex causes weight gain.
I was on mirtzapanine for a short while and I felt happy for once but together with the cipralex the 30 lbs came back within a month!

I'm a 20 year old female, who has recently been put on cipralex for panic attacks and anxiety. About a week ago I came out in a strange red rash on my chest. I have also been experiencing blurring vision and lightheadedness several times a day. Usually when I wake up in the morning I have had quite bad headaches which usually pass within an hour of being awake. I'm worrying whether this could be the medication or something else. Should I go to a doctor or is it anxiety related?
Hi, I'm currently taking 10mg of cipralex for anxiety and panic attacks. I have been taking the cipralex for 3 months. Lately I have been experiencing head spinning before I go to sleep. When I am asleep I am woken up by dizziness when turning. Also just upon waking I seem to get these strange impulses through my body which make the dizziness really bad. The dizziness usually goes away once I am awake and walking about.

After reading these posts and I am starting to put two and two together and they are definitely looking like they are adding up to weight gain from Lexapro. I started on Lexapro in early July. I weighed in at about 178 at that time - 5'9 and worked out almost every day. While I was experiencing the start up side effects from Lexapro (about 4 weeks) I didnt work out but didnt gain any weight during that time. Anyway long story short - in the last month to 6 weeks I have put on about 12 lbs.
My symptoms were relate to me talking myself off Clonazapam (my Dr. suggestion) within a 2 week period, last dose end of June and first severe symptoms on July 5th with heart palpations, skaky inside, anxiety, insomnia, night sweats, weight loss, ravenous hunger, weakness, high blood pressure.
My main concern is that it seems the cipralex messed my metabolism up and I gained 40 lbs very fast, whereas before even if I was eating “bad” I only used to fluctuate 5-10 lbs my whole life. I have been off cipralex for several months and can’t lose the weight.
I have had 3 urine tests in the last month with 0.3 erythrocytes (should be negative), HI Bacteria (should be negative), and the tribe culture says “3 or more organisms present” and that it is probably contamination.
However after a few weeks realized i wasnt sleeping, eating (my weight went down to 6stone and Im 5ft5) plus i was havinf bad painic attacks and realized my depression had come back.
So i went to my doctor l was put on mirtazapine 30mg, theyr making me very sleepy, the 1st tablet i took i slept for 14hours and couldnt wake up and felt extremely tired for over a day.
I took half my dose lastnight after being advised to and im still feeling very dizzy, sleepy and just ill.
He told me to consult with the psychristic. I consulted with the psychristic. He advised me to take cipralex for one and half month. After taking the cipralex too i feels the same sympton. For that i once again consulted with the other neurophysician in bangalore. He advised me for doing the MRI Scan. The result of the MRI saying "Mild ectopia of cerebellar tonsils. The tips of the tonsil is 5mm below the formen magnum. No mass effect is seen on the Brain stem.

Was on cipralex for 2 months and gained 10-15lbs I was devastated, I went off the meds and lost 5 lbs but the depression and anxiety is just too much and its so unfortunate bc that drug helped me so much.
Just started wellbutrin today 300mg hope this helps loose the extra weight I gained and with the depression.
was sent to a neurologist and he did an EMG test and everything was fine. he gave me cipralex to ease me up. I took it for 10 days and I stopped because I didn't like the idea of taking it. he told me I can stop it whenever I want. so I stopped. a few days ago I lost something like 60%-70% of my sensation all over my body! it's really severe loss. I barely feel anything. on top of everything I have a weird headache in the back of my head.
I would give it some time. and don't keep checking your heart rate. Cipralex and this class of drugs are long acting and not something that would just drop your heart rate. But as your stress and anxiety decrease, your heart rate in the resting mode may go back to normal. A resting heart rate of 50 is in the normal range. You are on a low dose. Hope it helps your anxiety/panic. I have found that often anxiety takes a bit higher dose to really work well.
