We are not medical doctors so if you want to know about the side effects then you should call them (chantix) directly at 1-877-CHANTIX. Also, there is something that comes with the prescription that tells you about the risks. You had better read up on it.
Sorry to hear that you are having seizures. I took chantix with very little side effects.

Always research any new medication before trying it. My husband was prescribed chantix to quit smoking. After he started taking it he began having panic attacks. He had never had one before the medication but began having them during. Unfortunately that is now something he has to live with for the of his life.

I had the most wonderful wet dreams when I was taking Chantix. I think I banged almost every one of my high school cheerleaders in those dreams. I quit smoking a month ago but I think I'm going to ask my doctor for another prescription for Chantix because I really miss those wet dreams. I was a super stud in those dreams. The kind of stud you can only dream about. I miss all of that good *****.
t see anything abnormal, but that all my symptoms pointed to endometriosis. She gave me a prescription for a strong anti inflammatory and we made a follow up appt for 6 weeks later. About the same time I also started taking Chantix to quit smoking. The nausea was so bad that I almost quit taking the meds..but then I started taking a Parsley suppliment along with the Chantix to combat the nausea.
My next period which was roughly 3 weeks later was NORMAL! No excess bleeding...

ve been smoke free for over a year without it. I know a lot of peole get side effects from chantix but not much for me. I took it steadily for about 9 month and stopped about 5-6 weeks ago. I started having cravings again and broke down and paid for a re fill. That first pill worked fast and really helped with any cravings. I will take it as needed for however long and try to always have some on hand.
I, too, smoked for over 40 years. Between that and severe acid reflux, I had built up excess tissue on my vocal cords, to the point that I could hardly talk. I'd gotten to the point that it was so painful to even make sound that I tried not to talk as much as possible. I was sent to an ENT, who said he could remove that tissue (it wasn't cancer, but he was sure it would be soon), but he wouldn't touch me until I had quit smoking for 2 months.
m not quite sure what your friend and her husband used, but if it was chantix/champix, then the success rate is 44%. I used Chantix to quit and it really worked great. Saying that, there are so many people who have experienced side effects, some severe, so make sure you do your homework on it.
Most people that you tell truly want to see you succeed. The one who told you would not be able to succeed is probably bringing her own experience into your conversation.
I used Chantix for my quit but had no ill side effects. Hindsight, I probably wouldn't use it again because of all the negativity so what I would suggest is if you have already gone 2 days without a smoke, you might want to consider stopping the Chantix.
You are still going to have a physical withdrawal regardless of how long you use the pill though I don't know to what degree, all I can say is that I had a rough go of it.

Certainly it's better if you cut down on the cigarettes. Ask your OB or RE to prescribe Chantix for you. I hear it's ok to take during pregnancy and it really helps with trying to quit smoking.
Know you're not a lone if you can't quit, many women aren't able to completely quick during pregnancy and the baby turns out okay. I'm not endorsing it of course, just letting you know that you're not the only that's pregnant and could just cut back.
t realize the Chantix withdrawal is a drug injury and should use a protocol of prescribing Chantix the way it was instructed, slow taper off to allow brain chemistry to return to normal levels without shock syndrome. The shock syndrome has lasted for 9 months in my case. Chantix is a double edge sword. Be careless and it will cut you. I never experienced anxiety in my life prior to stopping Chantix. I've been involved in Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
