385161 tn?1270081218 No ****. You are so obsessed with smoking and nicotine aids. You didn't even read my post. I DON"T SMOKE WITH THEM ON EVER. We get the point you are totally against that and I am not stupid. thanks for repeating again. Geeze...you've gotta find something new to write if your gonna comment, read the question please...thanks.
Avatar f tn I don't know what the side effects of chantrix are. The patch would definately be better than smoking. I quit when I found out I was pregnant, so I know what you are going through. But, remember that nicotine in any form isn't good for the baby so don't rely on chantrix or the patch any longer than neccesary. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn I'm not too sure but I do know my friend killed himself because of that drug.
Avatar f tn She felt that the nicotine withdrawls, combined with the side effects of the Chantix is what caused the severe anxiety.
Avatar f tn Last june i was hospitalized with pneumonia, being a smoker they put a patch on me, i am to understand that they are not for 24 hr use and should be moved from one place to another, when i was realeased i bought patches and had a very bad reaction my Dr.
380558 tn?1309042387 Yes, good luck to you Alli and congrats on taking that first step with the nicotine patch! You can do this because if I can, you can! I am also a long time smoker of 34yrs and had never quit before last July. You are relatively young at 32 so please don't let another 15yrs go by and be FORCED to quit because of nicotine related physical problems. Try to keep in mind all the poisens you're inhaling......look on "whyquit.
Avatar m tn I realized that for me I am more addicted to the oral fixation than the nicotine. I need to be able to put something in my mouth and blow out smoke as I quit. The patch and gum just dont work for me. Thanks ahead of time for your advice.
Avatar f tn I did the nicotine patch and I was on the patch for 2 months. Havent had a smoke since. Takes will power tho. Wasnt so much the nicotine but just the habbit of lighting up that I missed. Its either ct or nothing when it comes to the cancer sticks. Its easier than quiting the drugs but I think I miss the smokes more than the meds. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have ordered one of those electronic cigarette thingees with no nicotine. The patch plan is 8-10 weeks I think. I am hoping by cutting slowly, I will avoid the panic and anger this time. If not, I plan to become an alcoholic instead! KathyJo, Dakota! I am back and needing your support again! :D Happy Easter Everyone!
1052851 tn?1307741160 I would imagine, with insomnia, how you would want a smoke to accompany your long night. What would be more worrisome is if you awoke to smoke. The patch is probably the best quit aid. To bad you are allergic to the glue. As for the gum, well I'm not a fan...my personal opinion. I know many who have quit using it, but now they are hooked on the gum! No matter what way you look at it, as long as you chew it, you are putting nocotine in your body.
Avatar f tn Hello again everyone - I have just come across a product called Nicobrevin (www.nicobrevin.com) which is nicotine free and contains ingredients that relieves the irritability that is related to nicotine withdrawal and also alleviates the cravings for cigarettes. I have read the testimonials and it sounds like a good product. Does anyone have any comments on this product? Thanks!
Avatar f tn I also had a horrible experience with the Chantix. I became very angry and wanted to be violent but thankfully never actually got violent. I had horrible nightmares too so I was always scared to go to sleep. I decided to quit taking it as I figured smoking was better than prison for murder! I have smoked for over 25 years and have quit a couple of times over the years but always went back. For Christmas, my kids got me the electronic cigarette and it is actually working.
Avatar f tn Good luck on your quit date, you'll do just fine :) It sounds like ur friends that told you about this 4 week program were on some sort of aid. When you quit using like chantix or zyban you smoke for the first 2 weeks. When you smoke the nicotine binds to receptors in your body that carry the nicotine to your brain that's where the cravings come in. In these medications they block those receptors from carrying the nicotine to the brain.
444932 tn?1273980797 Read the post by Joanna564 dated 3/11 titled "Is itching a symptom of nicotine withdrawl." It's hard to say what is or isn't normal but I'm quite sure that it does have to do with with your cutting back or the Chantix even though it isn't listed as a side effect. I had itching also but mainly my nose and scalp. I had finished taking Chantix by then so I didn't think to blame it on that. You said that you were having headaches a few days ago. Have those subsided?
874521 tn?1424116797 I used Chantix but I am wondering why you are going with the gum? I have no personal experience with it, but I do know many who have used it, are still using it, even many years after their quit. It appears that it's a trade-off in addictions. There was also a thread on here about the gum. Here is the link to it: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Smoking-Addiction/Effects-of-Long-Term-Nicorette-Use/show/730769?post_id=post_4517392 Make sure you research the alternatives.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor. Your SVT complicates your quitting. A nicotine patch could cause things to be worse, and smoking is obviously not a healthy choice. Your doctor will be able to help you through the worst parts of this challenge. Good luck!!!
Avatar f tn Thank you both so much I feel if i dont quit they will kill me as my bp wont seem to regulate yet and my heartrate isent right either and my doc had me on to much meds i know because today i cut back on them and im not having the heart arrithmias and my bp is in the normal range it was dropping to low and it dosent help my docs on vacation while im stuck trying to get the right amount of meds to keep my bp right,Iv been near tears all day because last night the heart irrithmias were so bad even
Avatar n tn I'm told 3 days. Are you being tested for nicotine?
469210 tn?1219188128 I was terrified as well. I have generalized anxiety disorder on top of it and my doc says that the smoking was releasing endorphines in my brain and keeping the disorder at bay and even told me the anxiety was going to get worse when I quit. One day my husband started using the patch.
380558 tn?1309042387 D:D.. glad to see SOMEONE on! lol.. I've been working my rear off! UGH! I went back to work today for a company I worked for, for 2 years, then I walked out on them in October because of drama and chaos, but the people responsible for THAT were fired, so they called me yesterday and asked me to come back.. They offered me nearly DOUBLE the pay and bonuses plus commission, so I accepted.. However, it's sooo stressful.. although VERY boring at times and VERY quiet..
Avatar n tn Chantix blocks nicotine receptors in the brain; therefore, the gum will be a waste, because it will have absolutely no effect on you. So money down the drain is all it would be. Maybe regular gum to keep your mouth "busy"? I'm doing just the gum because I have PTSD (so they say) and my doctor was concerned about flashbacks and other issues that arise from Chantix use. Hope this helps, and best of luck! Been smoking for 45 years, quit the 15th, and I'm doing well!
3079363 tn?1363273715 Hi... If you have health ins check with them some policy's cover the nicotine patch, the nicotine inhaler, chantex, and or the "fake" cigarettes I found the nicotine patch worked for me... Don't get me wrong after 33 years it was tough to stop but it can be done!
Avatar f tn I want to stop smoking. Since I am struggling with my moods due to lack of meds, I am very concerned about how the nicotine withdrawals if I were to quit cold turkey. Any suggestions? From my research I have found that Chantix is definitely not an option for me.
380558 tn?1309042387 They said that after 72 hours on the Chantix (because Chantix blocks the nicotine from entering the receptors and the nicotine will be out of the system within 72 hours as well) I shouldn't be feeling any major cravings after.. So, it should be alot easier by tomorrow.. :D.. just go to the website, you'll get a whole read up on it.. :D.. it's WORTH taking! Everyone else.. thanks so much for your encouragement and support! I'm so glad I logged on today! Love you all!
